Travel on durable surfaces. Please stay on established trails at all times. With well over 4 million visitors a year it does not take much off trail activity for our sensitive vegetation to quickly die off. You must have a climbing permit and technical climbing gear to rock climb. All chalk and chalk substitutes are banned from the park. Familiarize yourself with seasonal climbing route closures before you get to the park.

Practical Amenities At Garden Of The Gods Rv Resort

There are three bath houses, two with laundry rooms. The main laundry room has nice big front loading washing machines, and huge dryers that can dry three loads at once. Washers are $2.50 $3.50 per load depending on settings, but the dryer are inexpensive and powerful, which evens out the cost of doing your laundry on site. Laundry soap vending machine and a coin dispenser are located in the main laundry room.

Road Closure Near Garden Of The Gods Entrance

The City of Colorado Springs is beginning initial construction on the 30th Street Corridor Project, near the entrance to Garden of the Gods and the Visitor & Nature Center. The first component is construction of a temporary detour for the Foothills Trail. Trail users will be diverted to the detour starting Monday, Oct. 25. Then, starting Nov. 4, 30th Street will be closed in both directions between Gateway and Mesa roads through the spring of 2022, weather dependent.

Access to Garden of the Gods Park, including the Visitor & Nature Center, will be maintained throughout the project. The Phase 1 detour route will direct traffic to use Centennial Boulevard and Fillmore Street to enter Garden of the Gods Park from 30th Street south of Gateway Road. During this phase, the park will not be accessible from Garden of the Gods Road by car. Detour notifications will be posted on major access routes. Mesa Road will remain open for local access only.

If you love spending the night outside, camping at Garden of the Gods Illinois would be a perfect choice. The campground is open year-round, and the picnic area and observation trail are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. You dont need to reserve for the campground. They implement a first come-first served system. You also dont a permit to enter or camping in the Garden of the Gods Wilderness. Youll be charged $10/night for each campsite with 8 people and 2 vehicle max.

Observation Trail has two large parking lots. Overnight parking is allowed at Backpacker’s Parking Lot in the Garden of the Gods Recreation Area and at Hitching Post Trailhead along Gape Hollow Road on the west side of the Garden of the Gods Wilderness. No overnight parking is allowed in the picnic area or Observation Trail parking lots.

If youre bringing along your dog, note that pets are allowed only on a leash. Youre also urged to camp only at designated sites in the campground. Last but not least, they only provide campground camping and dispersed camping.

Old Bates Campground

The Old Bates Campground sits on 20 acres of wooded wilderness and is located 4 miles from Rend Lake. In addition, its also nearby Black Berry Nature trail, Sesser, and South Sandusky beach. Its slightly north of the Shawnee National Forest, however, is ideal if youre interested in exploring various wilderness areas and not just the Shawnee National Forest.

The campground offers visitors the ability to stay in either an RV or tent. The RV sites come fully equipped with hookups and trash services as well. The campsites for tents are primitive and offer picnic tables and fire rings, however, all users have access to the shower house and restrooms.

Whats great about this campsite is that they do have a swimming pool, so you dont need to leave the campsite if you want to cool off. In addition, they also have a restaurant thats located in front of the campground called Stringers and Moore.

So, if youre tired of cooking and want a break, youll able to eat in or order out. Rend Lake has great swimming and fishing spots, so you can spend your days at the lake, or wandering around the surrounding nature such as Pyramid State Recreation Area, Trail of Tears State Forest, Crab Orchard Lake or Shawnee National Forest.
