Juniper Campground Mount Diablo State Park Campground
The summit of Mount Diablo is home to one of the best hikes near San Francisco and features a view that stretches for hundreds of miles across the East Bay. And the Juniper Campground, near the Summit Visitor Center, has 32 campsites that make it easier to enjoy the sunset from this stunning vantage point.
It’s a long and winding drive up to Mount Diablo and the Juniper Campground, not recommended for large trucks and/or trailers. The route is also a certified favorite for Bay Area cyclists, and visitors should pay attention to the many signs denoting bike passing lanes.
Campsites can be reserved ahead of time at Mount Diablo, and reservations are recommended on busy summer weekends. All overnight guests have access to flushing toilets, potable water, and coin-operated showers.
The other campground at Mount Diablo State Park, Live Oak Campground, features 22 additional sites with similar accommodations. Five group campsites are also available at Mount Diablo State Park with sites that can host up to 50 people.
The Summit Visitor Center is a good place to head for historical information about the park, as well as access to the one-mile that leads to the 3,849-foot top of Mount Diablo.

Acadia National Park Maine
Located on Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park is the Pine Tree State’s natural jewel. The park boasts 17 million acres of forest, 6,000 lakes and ponds, and 32,000 miles of rivers and streams to offer a scenic backdrop to your hiking and camping. The park has three campgrounds to set up your tent: Blackwoods , Seawall , and Schoodic Woods . North Bend Park & Campground
The North Bend Park and Campground is situated on the grounds of the John H. Kerr Reservoir, Boydton, Virginia. This fifty thousand-acre lake is surrounded by over eight hundred miles of cove-studded, wooded shoreline that campers can spend hours exploring. The campground consists of nearly 250 water/electric hookup sites and primitive campsites near or on the lakefront. There are also centrally located bathhouse facilities with toilets and hot showers. While pets arent allowed on the beaches, they are allowed in the campground and on the walking trails. Biking is also permitted on the trails around the North Bend Campground.

Norris Dam State Park

Norris Dam State Park is less than 30 minutes from downtown Knoxville making it the perfect destination for those last-minute camping trips. With 4,000 acres to explore right on Norris Reservoir, you can soak up impressive views from the hiking trails or paddling the lake. Boating offers a new perspective on the park and allows you to access prime fishing areas plus, if you don’t own a boat, you can rent one at the marina. Before you leave the park, stop by the Lenoir Museum and view the artifacts that depict life in Southern Appalachia from 12,000 years ago to the present day.
Camping: The park is split into two sections one on either side of the Norris Dam. There is a campground on each side of the park. Sites in both campgrounds come equipped with a picnic table, fire pit, grill, and central bathhouse. The east side offers 25 sites with water and electric hookup and 10 tent-only primitive sites without water and electric hookups. In comparison, the west side provides 50 sites with water and electric hookups and three ADA certified paved sites. The west campground is also closer to the park’s office, tennis courts, etc.

Yosemite National Park California
Everyone who loves nature has to go to Yosemite National Park at some point in their lives, especially for a good camping trip. Nearly 95% of the park is designated wilderness, and there are 13 popular campgrounds scattered throughout the park, as well as backcountry camping for people who really want to rough it. Currently, only the Upper Pines campground is open, and the park requires reservations for entry, even for day use.
Minnewaska State Park Reserve New York
Only 94 miles outside of New York City, this state park reserve sits on Shawangunk Ridge, more than 2,000 feet above sea level, surrounded by rocky terrain. That’s a lot of space to hike, bike, and especially enjoy the view. The park is currently operating with a reduced capacity, and some facilities are closed the adjacent campground is also temporarily closed.

Best Virginia Campgrounds: North Landing Beach Campground
Another campground in the Virginia Beach area, the North Landing Beach Campground offers waterfront tent camping, RV camping, and camper cabin rentals with amazing views along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Younger campers will particularly enjoy the water balloon launch stations and renovated swimming pool at the campground, as well as Icees from the Full-Service Deli. Other amenities at the North Landing Beach Campground include a private beach, picnic areas, complimentary Wi-Fi, kayak and canoe rentals, a playground, laundry facilities, shower facilities, a boat launch, and more. There are also two pavilions available to rent, including one with a movie screen.

Anthony Chabot Family Campground Anthony Chabot Regional Park
Twenty miles from downtown Oakland in the East Bay, the family campground at Anthony Chabot Regional Park features 53 standard sites and 12 RV sites with full hookups. An additional 10 walk-in campsites are available exclusively for tents.
The popular Honker Bay Trail leads from the campground to Lake Chabot, which is frequently stocked for a great fishing opportunity. All overnight visitors to Anthony Chabot have access to flushing toilets, potable water, and hot showers.
Northwest of Anthony Chabot and connected by a hiking trail, Redwood Regional Park is also operated by the East Bay Regional Park District. With dense forests of giant trees, Redwood Regional Park features three different group sites to spend the night, available by reservation only. These group campgrounds, like the Fern Dell Group Campground, accommodate up to 50 people.
Farther east and outside of Fremont, Lake Del Valle Family Campground is also operated by the East Bay Regional Park District. Lake Del Valley Campground features 150 individual campsites that are just over an hour away from San Francisco.

Ozark National Forest Arkansas
Arkansas has loads of countryside that is often overlooked. Here, you’ll find nine beaches, thousands of acres of lakes and streams, and 400 miles of hiking trails. Campers can choose between a number developed campgrounds for RV and tent camping. Several campgrounds and recreational areas are still closed, but some have reopened with restrictions.

Beacon Rock State Park

Rhode Island: George Washington State Area
The George Washington State Campground and Management Area sits tucked away near the border of Connecticut and Massachusetts and offers the regions best camping with New England charm. With 45 RV/tent sites near the appropriately-titled Lake Washington, popular activities here include fishing and swimming in the lake and nearby reservoirs. Larger parties can rent out one of two Adirondack-style camping shelters.

Campgrounds In Virginia: Shenandoah National Park
The Shenandoah National Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, especially those who love backcountry camping, as the park is full of primitive sites. In fact, there are very few park areas that are off-limits for overnight visitors, providing campers with abundant opportunities to truly discover the amazing wildlife and scenery of Virginia. Raccoon State Recreation Area
Distance: 50 miles west of Indianapolis.
Features: Known officially as Cecil M. Harden Lake, the more than 2,000-acre body of water is a result of damming of Big Raccoon Creek for flood control. Tourists have benefited because the recreation area is known for good fishing, boating and swimming.
Campground: The large campground features 240 electric sites, 39 non-electric sites and 35 primitive camping sites. Each site is pet-friendly and allows a maximum of six people and two vehicles. There’s also a youth camping area. Make reservations online here.
Campground amenities: Vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and a convenience store. Theres also access to ball courts, boat rentals and playground.
