Camping World Announces Acquisition Of Monticello
Camping World Holdings Inc., the nation’s largest network of recreational vehicle-centered retail locations, has announced the acquisition of Quality RV in Monticello.
In connection with the acquisition of Quality RV, Camping World has also acquired additional land in the city of Monticello and is in the process of expanding and renovating the dealership to include a full-service Camping World retail store situated on approximately 14 acres.
Camping World expects to complete renovations and open the store in December 2016, stated an Oct. 27 company news release.
“We are eagerly awaiting the opening of our newly renovated and expanded facility in Monticello and anticipate adding additional locations in targeted Minnesota markets to expand our market share,” said Marcus Lemonis, Chairman and CEO of Camping World and Good Sam.
As part of the Camping World network, the location will offer a wide array of services including RV sales, service and parts and accessories for the outdoor and RV enthusiast and will provide the full suite of Good Sam products, services and protection plans, including roadside assistance, extended warranties and insurance.
Lemonis continued, “I always look for three things: People, Process and Product in relation to enhancing our Camping World and Good Sam presence. Our goal is to add more quality manufacturers and brands, increase our presence in the market, and grow the workforce.”

The new owners of Gander Mountain say they’re opening a second Camping World location in Minnesota just a day after announcing many Gander Mountain stores will probably close.
Monticello will be home to the second Camping World store in the state, Camping World Holdings announced in an email news release Tuesday morning. Called Camping World of Minneapolis, it’ll have RV sales, parts and accessories, and Good Sam services.
It’s about 15 miles from the only other location in Minnesota right now, which is in Rogers. That’s billed as an “accessory store” that has RV camping products and supplies.
Camping World has more than 125 U.S. locations and is owned by CNBC reality show star Marcus Lemonis. He’s made a TV career out of turning around struggling businesses for CNBCs The Profit.
On Monday, Camping World announced it won an auction to buy St. Paul-based Gander Mountain and its Overtons boating business for a combined $37.8 million.
Lemonis said the structure of the deal allows his company to select only those stores which are profitable or we believe have a clear path to profitability,” and tolds the Wall Street Journal at least half of the 160 Gander Mountains probably wont survive.
For the new Monticello location, Camping World will be holding a grand opening celebration starting May 8 and lasting through that Saturday, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 11.
