Camping World Holdings Acquires Trailer City Rv In Fairmont
FAIRMONT, W.Va. Camping World Holdings, Inc. announced an agreement to acquire Trailer City RV dealership in Fairmont.
The acquisition agreement is anticipated to close in May 2021 and will be the companys first location in the state of West Virginia, according to a press release.
We continue to march towards our goal of operating a recreational dealer platform in the 48 contiguous states, said Marcus Lemonis, CEO and chairman of Camping World Holdings. The ability to acquire a dealership that has successfully taken care of customers for over 50 years, plus create a retail footprint in the West Virginia market, was an opportunity we could not pass up.
The new SuperCenter will be located at 2386 Whitehall Boulevard in Fairmont. The location will include a wide range of new and used RVs from top manufacturers, in addition to a full assortment of RV and outdoor products and accessories, the release states.
Camping World Holdings said it currently owns and operates more than 170 SuperCenters nationwide and a comprehensive e-commerce platform, specializing in RV sales and service, RV parts and accessories, outdoor lifestyle products and its portfolio of Good Sam products and services.

Camping World Acquires Dixie Rv Superstore In Newport News
Illinois-based Camping World acquired Dixie RV Superstore on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News with the signs changing Thursday.
Dixie RV’s well-known sign with two crossing Confederate flags has been removed and temporary signs reading “Camping World RV Sales” took place of the Dixie name on the sign and building. The store staff previously said the signage wasn’t meant to be offensive and was an allusion to Southern hospitality.
The acquisition is in line with Camping World Holdings Inc.s future growth plans and the location at 11963 Jefferson Ave. across from Jefferson Lab is Camping Worlds eighth recreational vehicle sales, service and parts location in Virginia, according to a news release. The Newport News location also is Camping Worlds first dealership in Hampton Roads. The purchase price wasnt disclosed.
The family-owned Dixie RV Superstore has operated at the same location since 1967 when late founder and Poquoson native Crosby C. Forrest and his wife bought Dixie Trailer and Gas Co. Son Layne Forrest is staying on as general manager and the Dixie RV Superstore Facebook page told a customer that other staff members are continuing to work there.
Dixie RV told customers in a Facebook post: “After more than 5 decades, the owners and staff of Dixie RV want to thank you for supporting us, becoming our friends, sharing your stories, stopping in just to say hello or showing and sharing your adventures with us.

When the company just started out, it used to allow Rvers to park and stay overnight in their parking lots. But since it shifted to being more of a RV dealership they have gradually moved away from that policy.
However, there are some locations that allow rvers to stay overnight in their parking lot. The ones that do still allow it are usually the ones that have no gate or fence surrounding the premises. The ones that do not offer overnight parking have put up fences and gates to prevent rvers from parking overnight.
