Hiking The Eagle Mountain Trail

The entire Eagle Mountain Trail.

The following photos of a hike along the Eagle Mountain Trail are shown in order, exactly as you will see it if starting from the Eagle Mountain Trail parking lot and following the trail all the way to near the summit of Eagle Mountain.

Open the box on the right of the bulletin board and fill out your BWCA day permit. You need this permit to legally traverse the Eagle Mountain Trail, as the path enters the Boundary Waters Canoe Area within the first mile. Permits are in the box as well as a handy pencil. With permit in hand, head off to the left down the trail. The first 50 rods are particularly well maintained by the U.S. Forest Service .

It appears the bulletin board has weathered the years fairly well .

A marker to recognize a prominent supporter of the Eagle Mountain Trail .

The same plaque as above, but six years earlier in the middle of summer .

A rock outcropping exposed along the trail .

Expect a much wetter crossing of Whale Creek if you come this way early in the season .

At this point you officially enter the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. The wooden bridge you see to the right of the sign is there to facilitate the crossing of Whale Creek .

Beaver dam on Whale Creek .

Whale Creek as seen from the little wooden bridge. There wasn’t a beaver dam at this time .

Meltwater pond in the forest .

Another boardwalk making passage through a marsh easier for the many trail users .

Directions To Eagle Lake Rv Park

If you have questions about the route please call us before you leave for up-to-date traffic and road conditions. The park number is 530.825.3133. During the season, we do recommend coming to the park via HWY 139 from the east and driving 20 min down Eagle Lake Rd as this is a straighter and less curvy road. The southern route of A1 off Hwy 36 is a beautiful drive that takes you past the forest service area of the lake, but it is curvy and sometimes has a considerable amount of traffic. When arriving from Eagle Lake Road into the town of Spalding , please DO NOT listen to the wonderful voice of your navigation system. The soothing voice will take you to the rear area of the park with no park access. So instead continue straight on the main road that you are arriving on until you reach a “T” intersection with only a left or right turn possible. Left goes to the Marina, but Right will take you to us at Eagle Lake RV Park on The Strand fronting the lake.

A Little About Me

My name is Jeremy Humphries and I have enjoyed camping since i was 15 years old. Yes, i bought my first motor home before i had a car and was “legal” to drive! I have wanted to build an RV park for the last 8 years and was never in a position to do so. About a year ago, everything started to fall into place and i was able to make my dream a reality. My goal is to have the nicest little RV park in Azle! I take pride and strive to be the best in everything I do, this RV park is no different!!

What People Are Saying About Eagle Resorts Rv Park

Really enjoyed being here. The park was clean and very well kept. The office people were friendly and very helpful. I was visiting a friend in Sagnaw, TX and in spite of major construction it was quite easy to drive in the area. Many places to shop and nice restaurants in the area. Six Flags was not too far. If you read my reviews my main gripe is usually about people not cleaning up after their dogs. This place didnt have that problem!! Cheryl, Google Review
