What Are The Rules On Campervan Overnight Parking
The most important thing to remember about parking overnight is that it is not allowed everywhere. Never assume you can stay somewhere, as that can result in you being woken up at 4am by an angry official. Secondly, just because you can park somewhere doesnt mean that you can stay the whole night! Campervan overnight parking is difficult, but luckily there are loads of websites and apps to help make it easier!
‘human Waste On Paths’
Councillor Seimon Glyn said that while most people with campervans stayed on nominated sites, some preferred the wild.
“We often find evidence of people leaving human waste on paths and the contents from portable toilets being poured into the sea,” he said.
“That concerns us – not only from an environmental point of view, but also because of health and safety.”
Gwynedd council is putting up more signs in the area, warning people not to camp overnight, but Mr Glyn said they were “already being ignored”.
“This isn’t an issue that is unique to Porth Ysgadan, all across Wales other beauty spots are facing similar problems,” he said.
A number of councils told Newyddion S4C they had recorded an increase in wild camping last year and the programme has seen footage of people “wild” camping at Padarn Park in Llanberis, Snowdonia, despite clear signs asking people not to stay overnight.Ã
One wild camper said most campers were respectful, leaving no trace, and even cleaning up after others.
“We only want to spend as much time in nature as possible, I think as long as we care for the environment we are in and leave it in a better state than we found it, what’s the harm?
“As with any land, if we are asked to move by the landowner we would do so without hesitation.”
Gwynedd Council said it employed a specialist security team “to shut the car park gates every evening and to deal with any cases of wild camping”.

El Capitan State Beach
West of Santa Barbara, El Capitan State Park lies on both sides of U.S. Route 101. You can also find El Capitan Creek in the park so it features lots of trees, particularly sycamores and oaks.
El Capitan has a sandy beach along with bluffs and tide pools. Park rangers offer interpretive programming as well.
The campground doesnt off any RV hook-ups although you will find showers. The campsites are $45 a night. The RV limit is a generous 42 feet.
Located at exit #117 off U.S. Route 101, 17 miles west of Santa Barbara.
Ocean Pitch Campsite Croyde Devon
Widely considered Englands surfing capital, Croyde Bay has a special place in UK surfers hearts. With acres of sand, pounding surf that refuses to quit, and relatively more favourable weather than youre likely to get elsewhere on this island, its about as close to Australias Gold Coast as youre likely to get without spending a day of your life on a plane beforehand.
The Ocean Pitch Campsite is right next to Croyde Beach and has all the facilities to keep even the fussiest surfers / campers smiling. Think hot showers, BBQ bricks, super clean toilets, free WiFi internet access, mobile phone / tablet battery charging, surf hire and much, much, more. If youre feeling flash, theres also glamping pods on-site.
The sites open from middle of April to end of September with the standard price set at £15 per person per night. The luxury glamping pods meanwhile are available at £95 per night.

How Do I Get Around The Nc500
Given the remote location of the NC500 and the majority of the sights along the route, the best way to get around this road trip is by driving. There are of course other methods that are still popular, such as cycling and hiking, however, if you have a short amount of time on the route, neither of these are very suitable.
As for public transport, the use around the NC500 is understandably difficult due to how remote each location is, however, with the increasing problem of congestion along the route, this is a good option to research if you have time. I Have Been Asked By A Number Of Residents In Pett If It Acceptable To Permit Overnight Camping On The Beach Between Pett Level And Winchelsea Beach As A Result I Asked Rother District Council For Guidance On This Matter And Received The Following Reply:
“The 2013 seashore byelaws for Fairlight, Pett and Icklesham do not contain a prohibition on overnight camping so we would be unable to enforce a ban on overnight staying. Whether the Environment Agency might be able to, land above mean high water falling under its control, or whether the Police could, would be for those agencies to consider.”

Yes, there are cabins at Steep Ravine, but this isnt a glamping experience. Just steps from the shore in Mount Tamalpais State Park, the 10 primitive structures have no running water, electricity, or en suite toilets. Youll need to bring your own sleeping bags, cooking supplies, and other essentials. There are, however, vault toilets, drinking water, and an old-fashioned, wood-burning stove in each cabin that you can use to warm it up .
Time your visit to coincide with a negative tide to soak in the hidden Steep Ravine Hot Springs right by your cabin. These geothermal vents on the beach at the base of the cliffs are only exposed during low tides. You can dig out your own little bathtub on the beach, or head to the hot springs grotto, maintained by locals. Word of warning: The grotto is clothing optional.

Durness Wild Camping Spots Ceannabeinne Beach / Village Trail

When we were choosing an area around here we wanted one that wasnt too far a walk from the car as it had started raining, and also a spot with mobile reception. We pitched up late enough at night that there didnt appear to be anyone coming to do the village trail. We also made sure that we were away early enough in the morning before any visitors came.
This also made for a beautiful morning walk, learning all about the struggles of the Ceannabeine villagers during the Highlands Clearances, and the fascinating history of the area.
If you are in the mood for another one of the best campsites on the NC500 near a beach and dont mind the lack of mobile reception, the Ceannabeine Beach is perfect for you! This is slightly further away from Durness, however, it is a popular camping spot so you will not be alone.
Best Campsite in Durness
If you are looking for a Durness campsite, there is the Sango Sands Oasis Campsite just outside the town centre. However, if you fancy the wild side to life, there are lots of beautiful spots around this area for wild camping Durness.
Bronte Creek Provincial Park
In Oakville, Bronte Creek Provincial Park has an impressive list of day-use and overnight activities. Pending the time of year, campers can enjoy disc golf, hiking, tobogganing, swimming in one of Canadaâs largest outdoor pools, a childrenâs farm with live animals, ghost walks, a maple syrup festival, Victorian Christmas, plus four campgrounds, including group camping spots, and three yurts for a glamping experience.

For us, 7 days was the answer, with no two nights spent in the same place, although plenty of time to see lots of sights. You can pitch up in a spot here and explore the surroundings for two of three days before moving on, or you can make some quick pit stops at each one and get going.

Applecross and Bealach na Ba
If you journey through to the mountainous pass in the Applecross peninsula, located in the North West of Scotland, you will find Bealach na Ba. While its amazing if you find somewhere to park nearby and go exploring on foot, its best directly avoided in a campervan.
The twisting road through the mountains was awarded its name after it was commonly used by cattle herders to trade their stock across the Scottish Highlands. As a result, Bealach na Ba literally means the passing of cattle.

Dunnet Bay Castlehill
Wild camping in Dunnet Bay is fantastic with the opportunity to spot both dolphins, seals and other wildlife. There are long stretching beaches that are perfect for spending time with your loved ones or walking your dogs. Even in its busiest seasons the beach is big enough that you can have more than enough of your own personal space.
Castlehill is a wildcamping spot that can be found in the Dunnet Bay area, located just off of the A836. Surrounded by rolling sand dunes, Castlehill is truly breath-taking.

Car campers can make a reservation on reservecalifornia.com for $35 per night per campsite.
If you want to hike or bike in, apply for a backcountry permit before you go. You dont need to reserve a campsite. The hike and bike section of the campground is first-come, first-serve and costs $5 per night, per camper.

Is camping on the beach legal in California?
Generally speaking, camping on the beach is not allowed in California. Youll see no overnight parking and no camping signs at the vast majority of Californias beaches. This is pretty strictly enforced in the more touristy areas.
But there are exceptions!
Its legal to camp at several gorgeous beaches in California, either with a backcountry permit or by booking into a campground right by the sand. You might have to organize your booking many months in advance to avoid disappointment, but the effort will be worth it!

Sandy Neck is nearly 7 miles long. So it really does go on as far as the eye can see – backed by over 4,000 acres of dunes, marshlands and maritime forests.
Sandy Neck is a great place to spend the day swimming, beachcombing, surf fishing, or hiking along miles of nature trails. Or maybe a little of each, depending on what you’re in the mood to do!
In the evening, it’s a fantastic spot for seaside campfires … and SCV camping.
If you plan to overnight at Sandy Neck in your SCV, you’ll need to buy an off-road vehicle permit and pay the nightly camping fee.

- Annual ORV Permits – valid April 15 to April 14 of the following year:Town of Barnstable Residents – $90Non-Residents – $180
