What are people saying about rv parks near Laughlin, NV 89029?

This is a review for rv parks near Laughlin, NV 89029:

“Stayed at this gorgeous resort a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. Mike the owner went out of his way to take care of my family. We’ve been coming to this river for many years and finally found the right spot. There is nothing that compares in Bullhead City. The beach is perfect and there is plenty of shade. The park lights up at night and the fire pits are a plus. The pool with the misters overlooking the river will be groundbreaking. I HIGHLY recommend staying here. You won’t regret it!!-Sierra”

Tent Camping In Desert

Is there anyplace within 20 miles of Laughlin to camp out in the desert and view some stars?

I’m not looking for built up campgrounds with light pollution. Someplace close enough to run into town for food and entertainment daytime but far enough out for a telescope. The darker the better.

Anywhere along Christmas Tree Pass at the foot of the mountains is great. If you are going this summer, get in there after 5 pm and get out before 9 am due to the heat. Also, watch for snakes during these months. Don’t go poking around in holes or cracks in mounds or the mountain side.

we came across our snake a Nevada Green in the open. I would be nervous to camp in a tent. there is no light pollution there so it would be beautiful at night. I envy you for being brave enough to tent I would love to.

I use my telescope right in my condo parking lot…..lots of very clear dark nights for stargazing.

Snakes such as the Mohave Green are always a danger if one bothers them or happens to move very close to them. Otherwise they will avoid people whenever they can. Just be careful, but don’t go freak over them.

Early Days Of Big Bend

Davis Camp Park

The Mojave American Indians were the regions earliest inhabitants and lived along the shores of the Colorado River more than 10,000 years ago. When translated, the Mojave name means people who live along the water. This ancient civilization of people lived in the surrounding mountains, and utilized the river as a life source. Europeans began making their way to the area when Spanish explorer Melchor Diaz visited the present-day Big Bend of the Colorado River and of course, early pioneers, also made their way west to California.

Though hard to imagine when visiting today, Big Bend, Laughlin was still a tiny community up until the 1960s. People certainly lived in the area, but there were no casinos to be found and not even a way of crossing the river to Bullhead City. That is, up until Don Laughlin came into the picture and opened his Riverside Resort. Over time, a town formed and was named in his honor, and several other major casinos expanded the Laughlin Strip you see today.

The area is rich with beautiful rock formations and scenic viewpoints.

The river attracts a variety of waterfowl and shore birds including mallards, coots, herons and geese. Hawks, roadrunners, quail, hummingbirds, doves and owls are also abundant in the park. Common animals include cottontail, fox, raccoon, beaver, muskrat, coyote and an occasional bobcat or bighorn sheep. Several species of lizards and snakes inhabit the park, along with an occasional turtle by the river.

Laughlin, NV Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area is located just down the road from the Casino town of Laughlin, NV. A handful of Casinos line the Nevada side of the Colorado river and provide all the typical amenities that come with them.

Lake Mohave is a reservoir on the Colorado River created in 1951 following the completion of Davis Dam near present-day Laughlin, Nevada, and Bullhead City, Arizona. Named for the Mohave Indians who previously inhabited this region of the Colorado River valley, Lake Mohave extends approximately 67 miles along the valley from Hoover Dam to Davis Dam straddling the southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona border, which follows the original river channel.
