Camping World Buying Tom Johnson Dandy Rv

Tom Johnson Camping Center Concord, NC Biz is Great

by RVBusiness | Dec 19, 2014

Camping World Inc.s 100-store-plus network of rolling stock RV dealerships has taken an appreciable step forward with the acquisitions of two high profile U.S. dealerships, Tom Johnson Camping Centers in Marion and Concord, N.C., and Dandy RV Superstore in Oxford, Ala., confirms Camping World Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis.

This, of course, is big news for the industry at large, coming as it does amid an era of continuing consolidation.

Tom Johnsons, a regional powerhouse founded in 1967 with camping facilities located next to both stores, has been North Carolinas No. 1 RV dealer for 23 consecutive years and partly because of its NASCAR links has cultivated an almost legendary name in U.S. motorhome retailing.

Camping World has signed an agreement to purchase Tom Johnsons Camping Centers in North Carolina with one location in Marion and the other in Charlotte at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Lemonis told RVBUSINESS.com. So, this is a big day for our company because Tom Johnsons is one of those RV businesses that sets the bar very high. Its led by Gary Stroud, whos been with the company for 20-plus years and who, frankly, is about as good as it comes not only in the quality of his character, but in his knowledge of the RV industry.

Lemonis announced in meetings late last week with employees at both TJCC stores that Stroud will stay at the companys helm with Tom Johnson himself remaining in somewhat of an advisory role.

Tom Johnson Rv Rentals Reviews

Loved this place very friendly and helpful. It was handicap accessible. Great Bluegrass Festival. – Brenda, Google review

Great price on our camper. Very easy to deal with the sales person, who answered all of our questions. We are thinking of upgrading to a 5th wheel in the next couple of years, and I would not hesitate to purchase my next RV from them. – Craig, Google review

The BEST experience looking at campers ever!!! As soon as we walked into Tom Johnson’s in Marion we were greeted with a warm welcome! We had been to other camping worlds and been shunned and not even greeted. A salesman, Frank, greeted us as we were family. He made us feel so comfortable and catered to what we were interested in. He was very knowledgeable travel trailers of all sizes. The part I loved was riding the golf cart back to where only employees and interested buyers could go. It was very personable. All the way to service, the guy who shows you the breakdown how to operate the trailerhe was SO friendly and answered every question we had. Our first camping trip was wonderful and went so smoothly, thanks to him. We just loved the whole experience. They are great there and we know God lead us to this place to find our dream camper. – Rachael, Google review

What Our Customers Say

We booked online, and everything was taken care of. We got there, went to our site, set up, and enjoyed the evening. The next morning, we needed a few things, and they had a camping store right there with everything we needed for our trip It was an amazing stay I would definitely stay again.

We spent a weekend here just before Thanksgiving. All nice, long, level concrete pads, grass on either side. Picnic tables at each site. Full hookups, no cable. WIFI is better strength than at many other campgrounds Overall a good campground, we’ll be back.

We love it here. Level sites, very clean, great walking trails on the Catawba river, very good breakfast available at the office and lots to do nearby in Black Mountain, Asheville, Mt. Mitchell, etc. great place and staff is friendly. You wont be disappointed.

Living In Charlotte Nc

When you visit Charlotte, North Carolina, you’ll be immediately struck by its irresistible charm. The more you take in its obvious natural beauty and cultural diversity, your appreciation for this vibrant American city will only grow deeper. Charlotte is a city that sets the bar high in many ways. The most obvious area of growth is in economic development. The city has attracted and become the home base for approximately 325 Fortune 500 companies as well as 300 international firms. With that economic power, the city has also managed to grow as a result of the influx of workers who have not only moved here to be a part of this growing workforce, but who also bring a cultural and social diversity to the city. That growth, in turn, has led to a steady stream of new enterprises that include restaurants, clubs, housing and shopping destinations.

Reaching the top takes a lot of work, and that is definitely the case when you venture out for a day of rock climbing at Crowders Mountain State Park. Climbers test their skills at their own risk as they take on the various jagged surfaces. No matter how risky, the thrill of the climb, as well as the breathtaking scenery from way up high makes it all worth it.
