Best Fall Camping In The Merrimack Valley: Pawtuckaway State Park

The Pines Campground, (MA)Tour and Review/#vanlife up north/ Pig Roast while camping off season

Pawtuckaway State Park in Nottingham, New Hampshire encompasses a beautiful lake surrounded by colorful hardwoods and serious hiking trails through woods, up mountains, and across meadows. There are 192 campsites, and better yet, cabins with electricity. Pawtuckaway State Parkis open through early November and is less than an hour from the coast.

While most people visit during the summer for fun on the beach and in the water, you will love hiking and camping here in the fall. The mosquitoes have disappeared, and all you can hear are the leaves crunching dramatically under your boots.

What we love about Pawtuckaway State Park: The view from the fire tower is pretty amazing.

Something to consider: Quiet hours are strictly enforced, so if youre looking for a party, you might want to look somewhere else.

Ridge Hollow Camping Area

When youre ready to get away from the rowdy party crowd, Partridge Hollow Camping Area is waiting for you to go camping in Monson, Massachusetts. The park is heavily wooded thanks to the the Brimfield State Forest, making it a perfect place for relaxing in some of the most beautiful New England scenery. Family fun is the main activity on the agenda, and the owners say our goal is to help our guests to reconnect with the old-fashioned style of spending time together, rather than constantly running off in different directions.

This is great little campground. The owners are awesome and very friendly. Park is well manicured and clean. Not a ton of things to do but they make a very good effort to make the weekends interesting with events and games. Lots of hiking trails all over and not far from the Town of Sturbridge. Nice place to relax and chill. @Thomas Beau, CampgroundReviews.com

What Is A Year

A year-round campground is a campground that stays open 365 days a year, at least for certain types of camping.

Depending on the exact location, they may have some restrictions that apply to the types of camping that are allowed during the colder months of the year.

With year-round campgrounds, overnight camping fees can often shift seasonally.

Many offer lower off-season rates and then hike their prices up during the busiest months of the year.

If you are tent camping, you will have the most difficulty finding year-round campgrounds in places that experience freezing overnight temperatures.

For RV and travel trailer owners, you will enjoy a larger selection of year-round campgrounds.

Still, some campsites may offer limited services and amenities during the off-season, which may require you to be more self-sufficient when it comes to water refills, power conservation, and waste disposal.
