Home » 7 Things You Should Know About Camping World
Camping World is one of the largest RV dealers in the country, with nearly 200 locations. Youll find most of them near major highways and interstates, making them easy to access and hard to miss.
Youll likely spot them and their giant American flags several miles before seeing the first RV on their lot. Whether you want to buy your next RV or some camping gear, there are some things you should know about Camping World.
Today, were sharing seven things you need to know before shopping at Camping World. Lets get started!
Does Camping World Have Hookups
When youre camping at a retail establishment, you should assume there are no hookups. However, that doesnt mean there wont be. Camping World is a popular spot that often offers fresh water and a sewer dump for RVers.
These amenities can be great resources if you plan to spend time boondocking in your RV and pass by a store during your adventures.
The amenities that Camping World offers for overnight stays will vary from store to store.
Verify in advance if there are any hookups at the particular location to minimize any surprises upon arrival. If there are no hookups, ask if you can use a generator if you need one. The noise can disturb neighbors or nearby businesses.

Is Camping World Part Of Good Sam
Camping World Holdings is the parent company of both Camping World and Good Sam. Because the entire suite of companies is Camping World Holdings, many confuse it with being the same as the Camping World dealership. Like siblings, theyre individual and distinct.

How Do You Get An Rv Appraised
For a price, reputable dealers and RV repair businesses will frequently provide assessments to assist you in determining the fair market worth of your vehicle. Is Camping World A Good Stock To Buy
Its a highly leveraged company with a pretty tangled corporate structure. However, if you kick the tires on a 2.2% yield and forward earnings multiple in the single digit for a company that should grow its top line north of 20% for at least the next two years its hard not to see Camping World as a buy right now.
Benefits For Rv Owners
While Camping World does take a small percentage in commission, it is only 5%, leaving owners with a large profit margin. Other perks for renting out your RV through Camping World and partners include:
- High Earnings: Renters have the ability to earn up to $52,000 each year just for sharing their campers.
- Rental Protection: RVs are covered up to $1,000,000 in liability coverage and comp and collision.
- Roadside Support: You never have to call your own services or head out on a road trip to fix any issues yourself. Camping World provides 24/7 roadside assistance to keep your RV in great condition.

Camping World Purchasing Big Daddy’s Rv
The families of Neal and Brian Deaton gather for a family photo during the announcement that Big Daddy’s RV is selling to Camping World, effective on Thursday.
Paula Thompson, executive director of the London Laurel County Economic Development Authority, and Laurel County Judge Executive David Westerfield, made the announcement that Camping World is coming to London.
The largest American dealer of RVs is acquiring Kentucky’s top RV seller.
Camping World announced recently that it is purchasing Big Daddy’s RV for a “super store,” with the transfer of ownership taking place this Thursday. This will be their third location in Kentucky – with one in Bowling Green and one in Louisville.
“We continue to pursue dealership acquisitions to expand our market share,” said Marcus Lemonis, CEO and Chairman of Camping World Holdings. “The Big Daddy RV’s acquisition fills a void in our footprint and allows us to more effectively service our customer base and is an excellent way for us to kick off 2022 with continued exceptional growth.”
Camping World is always looking for seasoned and professional RV sales associates, technicians, and retail support to assist with locations across the country. Individuals interested in applying for a position may visit .
But the story of their success has some ironic twists.
“We bought 11 Dutchman travel trailers,” Brian added. “It just grew from there.”

Who Is Marcus Lemonis
Lemonis was born in Lebanon and adopted by a Lebanese and Greek couple living in the United States. He graduated from Marquette University, and after a failed run for Floridas House of Representatives, worked in a variety of roles in the auto industry and business world.
A conversation with a family friend and former Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca convinced Lemonis to get involved in the RV and outdoor business. After founding RV dealership owner FreedomRoads in the early 2000s, a series of mergers led him to his current post as head of the Good Sam family of companies.
Lemonis may be best known outside the RV and camping world for his popular CNBC show The Profit. On the show, Lemonis hunts down investment opportunities and helps entrepreneurs turn around their struggling small businesses. The show has completed seven seasons since its debut in 2013.

Who Owns Camping World
Camping World is a publicly traded company, which technically means anyone willing to buy a share of stock in Camping World Holdings Inc. is a part-owner. This has been the case since 2016 when the company held an initial public offering that raised more than $250 million.
However, some owners are obviously larger than others. One of the more common answers to who owns Camping World is chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis. Lemonis controls a significant portion of the company in partnership with private equity firm Crestview Partners. He has been expanding his ownership as recently as 2020. Major institutional investors own the vast majority of remaining shares. These include Abrams Capital Management, L.P., The Vanguard Group, and Wasatch Advisors Inc.
Previous to its 2016 IPO, Good Sam Enterprises, which still operates the company, owned Camping World. Good Sam Enterprises purchased the company in 1997 from its founder David Garvin, who had run it since 1966.

How Do Rv Dealers Determine Trade In Value
The Dealer NADA RV pricing book is where the majority of dealers will search up the price of your camper. Essentially, this is comparable to the Kelley Blue Book for automobiles. In the Dealer NADA, the dealer will enter the year, make, and model of the vehicle. The NADA will provide them with a trade-in value as well as a retail value.
Does Camping World Allow Overnight Stays
Camping World has allowed overnight stays in the past, but it seems thats becoming a thing of the past.
Many times Camping World may not have a say in whether they can offer overnight stays. Many cities and local municipalities create restrictions targeted at overnight camping. These restrictions mean that even if Camping World is willing to let you stay, local ordinances prohibit it.
If you do attempt to stay anyway, you could face a fine or other legal action.
Verify if there are restrictions before staying the night in a Camping World or other retail parking lot.

How To Rent An Rv From Camping World
The rental services provided by Camping World follow the same structure as companies like Airbnb or VRBO. This is a great setup for all parties involved.
Many people who own campers dont normally use them all the time which leaves them sitting in their driveway, yards, or storage for long periods of time. Now, these same people can actually make money off of that same camper that is sitting around doing nothing.
Through Camping Worlds Peer-to-peer setup through RV Rentals, owners can post information about their RVs to the site and customers can browse the gallery to find a camper that fits their needs.
Is Camping World A Good Company
Camping World is a large company that has been in the public spotlight for quite some time, mostly due to the CEOs comments and bad reviews. However, many of the complaints from unhappy people are nearly identical to what you hear from customers at other large RV dealerships.
And anytime a companys CEO steps in to make political comments, they will upset half their customers.
FYI: Heres why we dropped Camping World after years of loyalty.
Even if you dont ultimately buy your RV from them, visiting one of their locations while shopping for your RV is a good idea. You can see various floorplans and layouts to consider before purchasing. Additionally, if you dont want to risk their service department, you can always take it to a different service location for any repairs you need in the future.

How Much Is Camping World Worth
As of early July 2021, Camping World was worth approximately $3.3-3.4 billion when valued by market capitalization. This metric calculates a companys value by multiplying the price of each share of stock by the total number of shares.
This is up significantly from the companys IPO in 2016 when it had a market capitalization of approximately $2 billion. Anyone who owns Camping World stock owns a corresponding part of that value, meaning those whove held shares since the beginning have seen their worth rise significantly.

Reason For The Discount
The company is currently trading at a discount for the following reasons: the market believes the company’s earnings are unsustainable and driven primarily by increased demand for outdoor activities during the COVID pandemic, fears of an imminent recession, the market’s impression that CWH sells primarily big-ticket RV motorhomes, and a complicated corporate structure and insider control.
To start, I would like to dispel the reader of the images of large luxury motorhomes. The company’s top two selling vehicle types are towables . Travel trailers and fifth wheels are sold for an average price of $31,000 and $62,000, respectively, and made up 72.2% and 19.3% of new unit 2021 sales, respectively. Consumers can finance these vehicle purchases for as low as $149 per month .
Does Camping World Buy Used Rvs
Yes, Camping World does buy used RVs. Theyll even pay top dollar for your RV at one of their dealerships closest to you. Outright purchase is a good option if you want to sell your camper quickly.
You can also list your RV for sale with Camping World through their consignment program. This is similar to selling a house through a real estate agent Camping World will handle all the official paperwork for you, and youll get the most cash with no hassle in exchange for a certain cut.

How Do I Find Out How Much My Motorhome Is Worth
Its called NADA, or the National Automobile Dealers Association, and they list prices and values for motorhomes, travel trailers, and even truck campers and park models. Platforms like RV Trader, which help people buy and sell RVs, are also a great resource for getting an approximate value of your rig.
Buying From Camping World: Do Not Be Afraid To Leave Without The Motorhome
This is pretty straightforward advice. But too many people mistakenly think they are going to miss a deal. Dont be afraid to walk away if you cant negotiate the best price for the motorhome.
If the sales manager refuses to waive a specific fee or cant match your budget, dont be afraid to leave without buying.
Dont feel pressured to close the sale just because theyve shown you the vehicle or even written up some paperwork, like a simple quote.
You are free to leave at any time and until you sign the order form you are not obligated to buy anything.
Turning heels can be a powerful negotiating tool in some cases. Unless you have gone too far in the negotiation, the salesperson will try to hold you back. And if he cant, he might call you back the next day.
Remember that you can always find a similar campsite because elsewhere: a slightly different model, a different developer, a promotion that falls on another dealership
It might also be an opportunity to lower your comfort and equipment requirements a little, or to head to a camper van that you had seen but which did not meet your expectations 100%. Be patient, know how to compromise, but also know how to be uncompromising when necessary! Have no regrets, either way!
