Should You Camp At Pismo State Beach

Pismo Beach Camping Information

If youre looking for a beautiful and relatively affordable campground and dont need a lot of frills, Pismo State Beach is an excellent choice for camping.

Its also a fantastic spot for wildlife lovers and home to the countrys largest over-wintering colony of Monarch butterflies from November through February. Its the origin of the famous Pismo clam. Pismo is a popular bird-watching spot, as well.

The main attraction here is, of course, the beach itself. Its a popular spot for fishing and surfing, as well as simply relaxing by the water. Beyond the gorgeous beach, Pismo State Beach offers a popular visitor center with exhibits on the area and its natural inhabitants.

You can also enjoy a variety of hiking and horse trails. Pismo is the only beach in California where you can drive your vehicle along the shore.

What People Are Saying About Port San Luis Harbor District

This is our favorite place! The only thing is that the shower rooms are getting run down. Otherwise, its dog-friendly and we love the beach. There is also so much to offer out on the Old Port. Ty, Google review

Facilities At Oceano Dunes

At Oceano Dunes, the list of amenities is short: They have vault and chemical toilets , and that’s all. If you don’t have a self-contained RV, it’s indeed a primitive situation.

Water delivery and holding tank pump-out services are available on the beach. An RV dump station is on LeSage Drive near the park entrance.

The most popular activity at Oceano Dunes is riding off-highway vehicles and ATVs on the dunes, but you can also enjoy any kind of beach recreation. You can also use the guide to things to do in Pismo Beach to find out what to do when you’re ready to go somewhere else.
