Nestled in the foothills of the Keowee-Toxaway Natural Area lies this hidden lakeside gem. Pitch a tent right along the wooded shoreline and spend a night under the stars with the majestic Blue Ridge mountain range in the distance!
While this South Carolina park is small, it still offers 24 sites with all the basic amenities you need like tent pads, fire rings, and access to central water and restroom facilities. If lakeside camping isnt for you, theres also a luxury, all-inclusive cabin available for rent.
Make sure you check out the local Jocassee Gorges Visitors Center for information about the thousands of animal and plant species that reside in the park. You can also rent a paddleboat or kayak here.
Bonita Lake Rv Resort
Located between Naples and Fort Myers, Bonita Lake RV Resort is only six miles from Southwest Florida beaches. This means youll have easy access to natural attractions as well as restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.

At Paynes Prairie Preserve, youll find 49 campsites next to scenic Lake Wauberg. With waterfront views and multi-use access, this is one of the best RV parks in Florida. First thing in the morning, kayak and canoe right on the lake as the sun rises.
28 of the campsites have water and electric hookups . Campsites 19-33 are tent-only sites. However, every campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Amenities included drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, and an RV dump station.
Among the 22,000-acre preserve, you can enjoy boating, canoeing, fishing, biking, and horseback riding! With one of the best hiking trails in Florida, you can spy on some of Floridas native wildlife!
With one of the lowest prices in the state, camping at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is only $18 per night. Water and electric are included and built into the price.

Flamingo Campground Everglades National Park
Flamingo Campground in the Everglades National Park offers walk-in and drive-up tent campsites on the shores of Florida Bay . Amenities include solar-heated showers, picnic tables, and grills. Birdwatchers wintering in Florida will love the parks more than 300 avian species, as well as other wildlife, such as manatee and crocodile in the marina area. Paddlers will enjoy the parks many acres of mangrove forests, canals, and canoeing trails.
Best Camping In Florida: Long Key State Park
Long Key State Park is a 965-acre park in Monroe County that is located on the island that was once the site of Henry Flaglers Long Key Fishing Camp in the Middle Keys. Once a popular fishing destination for world’s great saltwater anglers and a luxury getaway for the rich and famous in the early 20th century, today the island boasts a full-service campground where guests can spend the night and fish the famed flats. The 60 ocean-front campsites have individual electricity and water hookups, picnic tables and ground grills, and breathtaking views of the Florida Keys. Kelly Park / Rock Spring Apopka
There are only 26 campsites, and every one is spacious, clean and well-shaded. Its also just a short walk through the woods to one of the most treasured springs in the state, Rock Spring, where you can swim in the refreshingly cool, clear water that extends down the Run in a series of elongated pools.
Near the park is a privately run canoe and kayak livery, Kings Landing, where youll be set up for an 8.5 mile paddle down Rock Spring Run through a pristine tropical jungle to the Wekiva River.
Kelly Park is very busy on weekends, with lines building after 10 a.m. on exterior roads, but campers have a private entrance day or night.
The basic camping rate is $23 per night for non-residents, with discounts for seniors and Orange County residents. No pets. This is bear and alligator country, and Fido would be seen as an easy meal.
Kelly Park is about 50 minutes from Disney World and Universal Studios via the Western Expressway and Floridas Turnpike.

St Georges Island State Park Apalachicola
But the memories of this park are still with me, and it remains one of my favorite campgrounds in Florida, largely because it has 9 miles of one of the most beautiful white-sand Gulf beach youll find anywhere in Florida.
And theres no better location to enjoy famous Apalachicola oysters, which are harvested in Apalachicola Bay and sold fresh locally. I dont know if its still there, but I have vivid memories of an oyster shack near the state park where you sat on the back porch for an afternoon of eating oysters and drinking beer.
The campground is deep in the park, laid out behind a magnificent wall of sand dunes just a hop and a skip from the Gulf of Mexico. There are 60 sites with electric and water, and there are six sites with concrete pads.
On the bay side, there are two natural launch ramps. Both ramps are restricted to small craft less than 24 feet with shallow draft. Launch fees are $8-$10, depending on the number of people in the boats.
Camping fees are $24 a night, including water and electric. Day-use fee is $6 per vehicle.

Just a quick thirty minutes from Orlando, this park is popular for those seeking to escape the hustle of the city for a bit of serenity amongst nature. The park has a wide array of diverse opportunities to explore natureits referred to as a natural theme park due to this diversity. There are miles of paved biking trails, freshwater swimming, boarding, and paddle-boating in three different ponds.
Can You Camp Anywhere In Florida
The Sunshine State actually provides many opportunities for camping in Florida: state parks, national parks, city parks, beaches, recreational areas, and even private campgrounds. It is important, however, to do your homework before just walking around and setting up a tent!
In most cases, you need a permit. Research how long in advance you will need to obtain that permit for each campsite, as they may be different. Some campsites require you to obtain a permit up to a week in advance, others just a day before you go.
When selecting your campsite, make sure your preferred mode of shelter is allowed! About half of the campgrounds in Florida prohibit tents. Other conversely do not have RV accessibility. Some campgrounds are even accessible by boat!

Camping In Cayo Costa State Park
The campground is small and, during peak season, it can be hard to get a reservation. If you dont have your own boat or kayak, there is a ferry that shuttles campers and visitors to the island. Bring everything youll need with you, as there isnt much on the island. There is a tram that brings you and your gear to the campground.
There are 27 campsites and 12 cabins to choose from. All are a hop away from a gorgeous, secluded long stretch of soft white sands and that magical Gulf Coast water.
