How Many Vehicles Are Allowed At Each Site

You may have a maximum of two vehicles per reservation. The first vehicle is included with your reservation. A 2nd vehicle will be charged an Extra Vehicle Fee of $8 per night upon arrival at the park. Please have your reservation confirmation paperwork and cabin site number available at check in. The vehicle MUST FIT on the parking pad at your site, or must be parked in the overflow parking area within the family campground No more than one extra vehicle per site will be allowed in overflow parking, and overflow parking is NOT guaranteed. RVs/Motorhomes/trailers are not allowed at the cabin sites.

Del Valle Regional Park Campground

Del Valle Regional Park Campground is another spot in the east bay that offers lakeside camping and a plethora of recreational activities. Del Valle Reservoir is a narrow, five-mile long lake, with nearly 16 miles of shoreline that offers everything from fishing and hiking to swimming in the summertime to visitors. The lake is particularly popular for fishing as it is stocked with trout and bass.

There are 150 campsites at Del Valle Regional Park Campground, all of which are largely in a grassland area and do not provide much in the way of shade. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and access to bathrooms with showers. There is a full marina that offers boat rentals and has a small market for supplies.

How Much Does It Cost To Reserve A Cabin

The cost to reserve a cabin is $100 per night plus a $100 refundable security deposit. The deposit is refundable 2-3 weeks after the reservation has concluded as long as there was no damage done to the cabin and/or there were no violations of rules of use.

Del Valle Group Campsites

Del Valle Regional Park has 7 group campsites. Two of the sites – Punta Vaca and Wild Turkey – can be driven to. The other five require a short walk, which means campers should be prepared to carry in their gear.

Most of the group sites can accommodate up to 50 people and 10 vehicles. Wild Turkey, however, which is a wheelchair accessible camp, can have up to 15 vehciles. Two larger sites are Punta Vaca, which can accommodate up to 75 people and 15 vehicles and Hetch Hetch, which can accommodate up to 150 people and 30 vehicles. Sites typically have a number of picnic tables, a rock campfire ring with benches, water, and nearby flush toilets. Parking passes will be mailed and must be displayed.

What Are The Amenities In The Cabin

There is a single/single bunk-bed and a single/double bunk-bed with mattresses.

There is partial tree shade over most cabins and picnic table. All cabin sites have a parking pad adjacent to the cabin that can accommodate 1-2 vehicles. It is a short walk to water and bathrooms with shower facilities.

Del Valle Regional Park Campgrounds

Notice: “At Del Valle, there is NO WATER available: no showers, no dump station, no water spigots, and only portable restrooms are available. Hook-up Sites have Electricity only. Please bring any water you will use during your campout with you.” Check reservations website for updates.

Del Valle Regional Park spreads along the shores of 5-mile-long Lake Del Valle, 10 miles south of Livermore. With a 10 MPH speed limit, the lake is popular for fishing, pedal boating, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and canoeing. Swimming is permitted in designated areas. Lifeguards are on duty during busy times. Campfire programs are offered during the summer. Naturalist-led lake tours by boat are popular.

Del Valle Park Campground offers 150 sites for RVs, trailers, and tents. Twenty-one of the sites have water, sewer, and electric hook-ups . Shade is limited at the park.

The park also has Group Campsites and Equestrian Camps.

Note: Watercraft that are required to undergo inspections for invassive mussels include boats, kayaks, canoes, sailboats, inflatable craft, and any form of floating board.

Del Valle Regional Park Campground Bottom Line

Del Valle Regional Park Campground is a very popular camping destination in San Franciscos east bay, often quickly filling on summer weekends, due to its proximity to the lake and the recreation it provides. That said if you enjoy strenuous hiking, Del Valle is a great destination. From the lake you can access the Ohlone Wilderness Trail, which if you hike for 5.6 will take you to Murietta Falls, which is the Bay Areas tallest waterfall, at 100 feet. However, beware that the last mile and a half of this hike are a killer, with an elevation gain of nearly 1,600 feet. We would not recommend doing this hike in the summer, and the waterfall is at its fullest in the fall anyways.

Del Valle is worth the visit if you are strapped for time and want to be with lots of other people. For our money we would likely travel further and go to a less crowded campground.

What Happens If I Miss My First Night Of Camping

If you are going to miss the first night of your reservation but you do intend to camp at the park for the remainder of your reservation, please call the Del Valle Park staff at and let them know when you expect to arrive. If you do not arrive at the park for your first night of camping and do not call by 10 a.m. on the morning of your second day to inform park staff that you are still coming, your reservation will be cancelled and no refunds of the site use fee will be given

Can I Cook Inside The Cabin

No, there is no cooking allowed inside the cabin. This includes using a hot plate, rice cooker, waffle iron, microwave, toaster, refrigerators, etc. No candles or open flame of any kind is allowed in the cabin either. You cannot run an extension cord to and/or from the cabin. Food lockers or coolers must be kept outside .

Arroyo Road Staging Area

From I-580 in Livermore, exit at North Livermore Avenue. Drive south on North Livermore Avenue. Turn right at Portola Avenue, then left on North L Street. North L Street becomes South L Street, then Arroyo Road. Continue on Arroyo Road past the entrance to the U.S. Veterans Administration Hospital and Sycamore Grove Park. The staging area is on the left at the end of Arroyo Road .

Can Juveniles Reserve A Cabin

NO. Only individuals who are 18 years old may call to reserve a cabin. Juveniles must follow one of these two requirements to check into a cabin site:

a) Be accompanied by a parent or guardian, OR…b) Be part of a group permitted to occupy park-lands at night and who is supervised by at least one responsible adult over the age of 21 for each ten juveniles.

What Is Your Policy For Cabin Sites That Are Accessible To Individuals With Disabilities

The following cabins are accessible to individuals with disabilities: 55 and 56. These cabins have an access ramp. This sites are marked with a blue wheelchair icon on ReserveAmerica.com. Cabin 56 does not have any requirement for a reservation. For reservations at Cabin 55, you must have a California DMV Disabled Person Placard or License Plate with an identification card matching the name on the placard. Placards and identification cards will be checked when you check into the campsite. If no one occupying the site meets this requirement, the reservation is invalid – you will not be allowed to use the site and no refunds will be given. The reservation must still be made by phone and within the booking window.

Free Camping Partnership For Non

The Outdoor Recreation Department offers a 3-year partnership program to Alameda and Contra Costa County non-profits where our staff provide one free camping trip and three-day trips to your organization for three consecutive years. Not only do the kids or families receive a memorable experience in the great outdoors, but partner staff also receive valuable training and resources to eventually lead their own camping trips. Through the Community Outreach Outdoor Program , the Park District provides a bus, all camping gear, food, program leadership, and training. The non-profit partner provides promotion and registers campers, attends trainings, and then helps lead the trips. Pets are NOT allowed inside the cabin, with the only exception of service animals*. Guide/service dogs are free. The dog fee for campground stay is $2/day per dog. Dogs may not be left unattended outside the cabin. More information on general park rules for dogs.

*Service animals means any animal trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Pets providing emotional support, well being, comfort or companionship are not recognized as service animals under ADA regulations.

After closing a number of its locations and services due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the East Bay Regional Park District has announced that it will be reopening several parks to a limited number of visitors, including Del Valle Regional Park in Livermore.

Starting on Oct. 2, limited day use, camping and boating will return to Del Valle, as well as Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont and Anthony Chabot Regional Park in Castro Valley, according to EBRPD officials.

“The Park District Board and staff have worked hard to keep parks and trails open throughout the district as much as possible during COVID-19,” General Manager Robert Doyle said in a statement. “Regional Parks have played an essential role in the community as a place for people to maintain their mental and physical health when most people have been in their homes the majority of the day.”

With most residents being confined to their homes for extended periods of time due to the pandemic, keeping outdoor areas open in as safe a manner as possible has been a top priority for parks officials.

While some areas have been forced to close due to safety concerns, parks officials say that 99% of the district’s 130,000 acres of parklands, 55 miles of shoreline and 1,300 miles of recreational trails have been open and accessible to the public — with additional safety practices in place.

You may be familiar with Berry Creek Falls in Big Basin Redwoods State Park, or the multiple cascades and falls in Uvas Canyon County Park. But did you know that the Bay Area’s tallest waterfall lies in a remote rocky gorge in the East Bay hills? The 100-foot Murietta Falls is little-known for two reasons. First, seeing it requires a tough 12.4-mile run or hike with 4,000′ of elevation gain. Second, the falls is completely dry for most of the year and only comes to life after it rains. So, the trip to Murietta Falls is best done in the early spring after heavy rains when the temperatures are moderate, the wildflowers are in bloom, and the falls are truly spectacular.The route to Murietta Falls is an out-and-back along the Ohlone Wilderness Trail, starting from the Lichen Bark picnic area in Del Valle Regional Park. The trip to the falls is divided into four distinct segments. The first 2.4 miles is a 1600′ climb up to Rocky Ridge. This is followed by a 0.8-mile descent to Williams Gulch. The next 2 miles is a 1400′ climb up the Big Burn section. The last mile is a descent to the falls. Be sure to save some energy, as the return trip involves another 1000′ of climbing!

Boat Rental And Launching

Boat launch fees are $5 per day for a trailered boat, $3 per day for a car-top, and $2 per day per windsurf board and paddle boards. For information on mandatory boat inspection for invasive mussels, see our Invasive Mussel Program page.

The public may rent motorboats, patio boats, pedal boats, and canoes at the East Beach marina area. Kayaks can be rented at the Kayak Center at the east beach. Any size boat may be launched at the public boat ramp. For more information and a schedule of fees, see our Boating and Sailing page. The boat speed limit is 10 miles per hour on the entire lake.

When Can I Reserve A Cabin

Cabins are available for reservation, by phone only, up to 4 weeks in advance of the first date you wish to camp. Should the 4-week mark of your first day of camping falls on a Saturday or Sunday, reservations can be made the following Monday at 8:30 am.

Note: Reservations must be made at least FIVE business days prior to your arrival date.

Del Valle Regional Park Area Attractions

Boat rentals at the Del Valle Marina from Rocky Mountain Recreation Co.: Fishing boats, pontoon boats, sun cruisers, canoes, row boats, and pedal boats
Kayak, paddleboard, and windsurfing board rentals from Outback Adventures. Find them on the beach in front of the lawn area.

Are There Any Firewood Restrictions In The Family Campground

To limit the spread of Sudden Oak Death fungus, NO UNPROCESSED/NATURAL FIREWOOD is allowed into the campgrounds. You may bring wood which has been commercially purchased and certified to be uncontaminated, processed fire logs or cut lumber. The campground kiosk at Del Valle has firewood for purchase.

What Is The Cancellation And Change Policy

NO REFUNDS will be given for unfavorable weather conditions during your stay. No changes to the reservation will be made under 3 days.

Cancellation/Change policy:

Received more than 14 days in advance will receive 90% of the site use fee + 100% of the security deposit
Received between 13-3 days in advance will receive 50% of the site use fee + 100% of the security deposit
Received less than 3 days in advance will receive NO REFUND of the site use fee + 100% of the security deposit

The $8 reservation service fee is non-refundable.
