Modesto Reservoir is a 2,800-acre lake just 18 miles east of Modesto. Its a versatile and family-friendly destination within 30 minutes from downtown.
The reservoir is part of the regional parks system and offers a campground with RV hookups, boat ramps, a designated swimming area, and numerous picnic shelters.
Thanks to its size, the lake has very few limits on recreation. You can swim, sunbathe, kayak, paddleboard, and even waterski and wakeboard its all possible here. The only drawback, however, is that it gets relatively shallow during droughts, so boating is at your own risk.
Del Valle Family Campground Ca
Del Valle Family Campground is the perfect getaway for anybody looking to explore the Bay Area of California. This RV park is situated in Del Valle Regional Park, meaning you’ll be surrounded by lakes, woodlands, and rolling hills. Del Valle Campground provides its RV campers with plenty to do. Modesto Reservoir Regional Park Campground
Modesto Reservoir Regional Park is 20 miles east of Modesto near the town of Waterford. The 2,800 surface acres of the reservoir are surrounded by 3,200 acres of park land. Visitors to the park enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing, and picnicking. The park also includes an archery range and an electric radio-controlled glider airfield.
Modesto Reservoir Regional Park Campground features 134 campsites with full hook-ups for RVs and trailers. In addition, they have 36 sites designated for tents. A large number of campsites may be reserved, while others are available first-come, first-served. Campsites are arranged into four loops, A-D. The A and B Loops have full hook-ups. C Loop has electric and water hook-ups only. The D Loop, known as Shady Point, has no hook-ups and is not recommended for RVs and trailers. The park includes one Group Campsite.
In order to preserve the quality of the water, no pets, animals, or fuel containers are permitted at the park.

The Regional Parks division is responsible for the maintenance and operations of Woodward Reservoir, Modesto Reservoir, Frank Raines Off-Highway Vehicle Park, LaGrange Off-Highway Vehicle Park, Laird Park and a small lot within the Knights Ferry area. The Department has operated recreational facilities at Woodward Reservoir in partnership with South San Joaquin Irrigation District for over 50 years. This facility encompasses 6,667 acres, including 2,900 acres covered by the reservoir.
