RV camping spots can cost as low as $60. Youll usually get different rates depending on the type of hookup. 50 amp hookups will cost more than 30 amp hookups. And a full hookup can cost you up to $120.
Certain campgrounds may charge you extra for camping in key scenic areas in the facility. You may also get charged extra on the weekend and for bringing extra people along.

If you head onto South Carolinas Highway 11 for about 50 miles southwest of Asheville, youll find this gorgeous, lush state park.
Enthusiastic walkers and hikers can head out on an adventure in the miles upon miles of woodland trails in and around this park. If you have a keen interest in American history, check out the CCC-built buildings that you can find all over this landscape.
The Table Rock State Park Campground itself has a total of 94 RV and tent camping sites, another 14 renovated cabins, as well as several well-equipped picnic shelters that are perfect for day-use and group gatherings.

Winter Car Camping: 15 Year
A sad thing about car camping in the high country of the Carolinas: come mid to late fall the campgrounds all go into hibernation. Well, not all of them, exactly. As part of our collaboration with the Great Outdoor Provision Co., weve come up with a list of 15 places to camp year-round 15 legal places, where you wont have to worry about the county sheriff rousting you in the middle of the night. In the uplands of South Carolina we didnt have to look hard: every state park campground we checked remains open year round we included four in our list. North Carolina is more inclined to close its campgrounds in the winter, but we did find two . Ditto the National Forest Service campgrounds . The rest are what are known as dispersed campsites, those found along certain remote gravel roads in our National Forests. Thought you had to take a break from car camping come winter? Think again.

Creekwood Farm Rv Park
Less than an hour from Asheville, youll also find the Creekwood Farm RV Park, which offers full hookups, Wi-Fi, cable TGV, a dog park, and a large recreation hall. RVs and tents are welcome here, and there are cabins for rent as well. Book this RV park to be in a farm-type setting to enjoy a slower pace of life. The campground has laundry facilities, showers, picnic tables at all the sites, planned activities, a dog play park, and camp store. Fontana Dam Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Its a bit of a drive at close to two hours from Asheville, but worth it for the views of Fontana Lake. People tend to head to trails of Newfound Gap Road, so youre less likely to see crowds especially in winter. Bonus: The Fontana Dam Shelter, nicknamed Fontana Dam Hilton, is known for being one of the nicest on the Appalachian Trail, with clean restrooms, picnic tables and access to hot showers at the Tennessee Valley Authority visitors center. If remote areas are your jam, this is the place for you.
Fires Creek Recreation Area
Fires Creek Recreation area offerssome of the best dispersed camping in the state.
Two main camping areas areavailable here. Bristol Campground has just under 10 campsites with vaulttoilets on site. All campers are welcome although its set up primarily forhorse campers. The other option is the Huskins Branch Hunters Camp. Backcountrycamping is also available in this area.
The entire Fire Creek RecreationArea is ideal for hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding in addition tocamping. Its also home to some of the best trout fishing in North Carolina.

Hanging Rock State Park
Head to Hanging Rock State Park toexperience some of the most incredible views in North Carolina.
Notable for its rocky peaks,majestic waterfalls, and fantastic vistas, this state park is a mecca forcampers as well as fans of outdoor recreation. Wildlife lovers will enjoyscanning the skies and rocky crags for the peregrinefalcons sometimes seen in the area.
The campground at Hanging RockState Park has 73 total campsites that are suitable for tents and RVs. Thereare no RV hookups available. Another overnight lodging option is to rent one ofseveral modern cabins.

Lake James State ParkCamp by the lake at one of three campgrounds located in this 3,644-acre park that straddles Burke and McDowell County. The Catawba River area, the Paddys Creek area, and the remote, boat-in campground on the Long Arm Peninsula offers a true outdoor adventure for those willing to paddle or steer their canoes, kayaks or powerboats to their own slice of heaven.
Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area and CampgroundsLocated in the Appalachian district of the Pisgah National Forest is this campground that borders the South Toe River. Enjoy swimming, trout fishing, or tubing in the river and explore the areas many hiking paths. All of this is within a short drive of Asheville and the Mount Mitchell State Park.
Lake Powhatan Recreation AreaLocated ten minutes outside of Asheville, this campground borders the 6,000-acre Bent Creek Experimental Forest. Hike along the nearby trails or take a dip in Lake Powhatan. Enjoy the fun of camping while still having access to restrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. A few sites have full hookups.

A Popular Nc State Park
But as the rugged, remote and mountainous state park that sits in Avery, Caldwell and Watauga counties, grew in popularity, with some 52,000 visitors last year, so did the clamoring for one of the backcountry, primitive, hike-in-only campsites.
Murray said 2,753 campers pitched a tent in the park last year, but there were countless others who were turned away after traveling sometimes from other states, only to find the campsites were all taken.
I think a lot of people are going to be glad they can now make a reservation, Murray said. We have a lot of visitors who travel a long distance and sometimes its pretty disheartening when you cant reserve ahead of time. I think $15 accommodates most budgets, and I think most people are going to be happy they will have a reservation.
Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground Nc
Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground is located near the small town of Chimney Rock, in the far western region of North Carolina. The nearest larger town is Charlotte is about 100 miles to the east. This portion of the state is located within the forested Blue Ridge Mountains and sits less than 25 miles from the state border with South Carolina and only around 50 miles from the border with Tennessee.

Triple Creek Campground Tn
In addition to stunning views of the Great Smoky Mountains, there are lots of reasons to park your RV rental at Triple Creek Campground. This RV park offers a peaceful place to camp, surrounded by 12 acres of dense woodlands and gentle streams. There’s lots to do around the campground, with a playground for kids and outdoor games such as horseshoes. Bear Den Family Campground & Creekside Cabins
Those willing to drive a little further away from Asheville will love this family-friendly, well-equipped spot. If you follow Interstate 40 east for 30 minutes, then Route 221 north, and then ultimately to Blue Ridge Parkway northeast, youll end up at this picturesque campground.
The 75-minute drive from Asheville is well worth the commute. Each cabin has cable, while the on-site shop provides drinks, food, and wood. The restrooms are well-maintained, and the location is stunning, with a serene lake and 50-foot waterfall nearby.

Asheville Bear Creek RV Park is a family-owned campground on the west side of Asheville. This RV park is relatively large, and it is at the junction of Interstate 40 and Interstate 240. This makes it a convenient stop for those traveling throughout the state.

Nps Campgrounds On The Parkway In North Carolina
Good to Know
Parkway Campgrounds are normally open from May October. Fees are charged on a per night basis, which includes two adults over age 18. Children accompanied by an adult camp free.
Reservations may be made for some sites in advance. As a general rule, demand is higher on weekends and holidays. Some first-come first-serve sites are offered at ALL Parkway campgrounds.
