What Our Guests Are Saying

Traverse City KOA

We are so happy to have made our RV purchase with the staff here. They were so friendly, never pushy and gave us all the space and time to make our decision. They have all the things you could ever need to make your camping experience fun and care free. Special thanks to Owner Kevin, who even took it upon himself to install and make sure the Universal mirrors fit our vehicle. And doing our walk around and shopping with “Red Shoes” Craig, who was always eager to let us freely walk about to see what we liked and his honesty and openness made it easy for us to decide. Cody was super knowledgeable as we did our walk around and he filled us in and answered all our questions. Thank you to our new RV family members at TCRV. We look forward to the Joy’s of the RV lifestyle because of your professional and family friendly service.~ Laura R.

TCRV has it all……excellent customer service. If you are buying and interested in Jayco products, this is the dealership to visit. Sales department is very knowledgeable and great to work with. In my opinion, the Service department is the best. Repairs done right the first time. They treat your RV with care. Also, if you need supplies, TCRV is well-stocked. If they don’t have what you are looking for, they will order it for you. We purchased a new 2018 Jayco Whitehawk from TCRV and love it! They treat you like Family…..even after the sale. TCRV is the only place I would consider for anything RV related!~ Peter P.

Free Camping In The Upper Peninsula

Camping in the upper peninsula of Michigan is amazing – with only a few major roads cutting east/west, north/south, it is surprisingly easy to move around to find a campsite to your liking. State Parks anchor the 5 corners of the UP but within that area are the two units of the Hiawatha National Forest and the Ottawa National Forest to the west.

Raco Airfield, a former airplane landing strip and proving ground, is a curious start. To the north is Shelldrake Dam. While users report the campground is closed, there are still sites worth exploring and free camping to be had.

Moving to the center of the UP, this unit of the Hiawatha NF has two free camping areas. Hovey Lake Campground has gotten consistent 5-star reviews from Campendium users. Brownstone Boat Launch on the Lake Superior shore offers water access and great views. These have the advantage of being reasonably close to the Pictured Rocks National Seashore.

Rounding out the UP are 3 sites in the Ottawa National Forest, Burned Dam Campground, Sparrow Rapids Campground, and Sturgeon River Campground.
