South Carlsbad State Beach Camping

The campsites in South Carlsbad State Beach are located along the bluff overlooking the ocean. The entrance to the campground is at Poinsettia Lane and Carlsbad Boulevard. Sites are arranged in parking lot style, with a row of bushes separating many of the sites. The ocean-front row are designated as Premium Sites , while the back row are Standard Sites . Hook-up sites have recently been added, including some dual hook-up sites.

The campground is divided in half, with sites 1 – 130 north of the entrance kiosk and the rest to the south. A seasonal camp store sells firewood, ice, and basic supplies. Laundry facilities are available there. During the summer campfire programs are held at the campfire circle near the store.

Access to the beach is via a number of convenient stairways or a ramp near the south end of the campground . Restrooms with token operated showers are situated all along the campground.

Great Beach Camping Spot

As many reviewers have noted, this is a great state park campground located on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean. Overall, the sites are large and well maintained. Ocean-front sites are $50 per night, while the inland sites go for $35 a night. Spend the extra $15 a night and reserve an ocean-front site – it’s well worth it!! Sites book up months in advance for the summer season, but you can usually get a spot during the off season. Park rangers strictly enforce the 2 pm check-in time, so don’t try to check in early. Showers are plentiful and take tokens to operate. Tokens are dispensed from a machine near the camp store and take bills only, no coins. $1 will get you 2 tokens . Don’t worry if you forget something – the camp store is well stocked and there are plenty of stores within a two mile drive of the campground . Kick back, enjoy the view and watch pelicans soar by.

South Carlsbad State Beach is a three-mile long beach on the waterfront of Carlsbad, California. Most of this state beach is in front of the linear South Carlsbad Campground that fills the void between the sand and the asphalt of Carlsbad Boulevard . Overnight Camping At Oceanside’s Harbor Beach

Two parking lots at Oceanside’s Harbor Beach allow overnight camping for RVs. No tents are allowed. Parking Lot 11B has year-round, overnight camping, while Parking Lot 12 allows overnight camping from September 15 to May 15 only.

No reservations can be made. Camping is first-come, first-served. There is a 5-day limit during any 30 day period. Pop-outs, slide-outs, and awnings are not allowed. BBQs or stoves are not permitted in the parking lot area, but they are allowed on the beach. No portable fire pits are permitted.

South Carlsbad State Beach Campground has 223 campsites and 138 of the campsites are located on a bluff overlooking the beach and Pacific Ocean. The maximum pad/RV size is 35 feet. The campground has a camp store , snack shop, amphitheater, hot showers, flush toilets and drinking water. Theres also a snappy dump station where you can also fill up your RV water tank with water. WiFi is not available. Group camping is also available .

Check in time is 2:00pm and Check out is 12:00pm. You can have 3 vehicles per site, but only 1 vehicle is included in your reservation. The other two vehicles per incur an extra charge . Generators can be operated from 10:00am to 8:00pm. You can stay up to 7 consecutive nights during peak season , and 14 consecutive nights during off season .

Campsites 131-134 and 215 to 223 have full hookups, and all of the campsites have a table, fire ring and grill. Our favorite campsites at South Carlsbad State Beach are 3-72 and 156-225 ! Accessible campsites are 16, 77, 87, 97, 108, 119, 126, 148, 153 and 184.
