The sites are spacious enough to accommodate RVs up to 45 feet in length as well as parking for two cars.

Campgrounds In Birch Bay Washington Usa
Birch Bay, in Washington’s northwest corner, is popular with visitors for its warm shallow waters and sandy beaches. Campgrounds in the Birch Bay area are a 100-mile drive north from Seattle and seven miles south of the Canadian border town of Blaine. During a camping vacation, spend the days building sand castles, flying kites, renting a paddle boat or biking through town. Both RV and tent campgrounds are available in the Birch Bay area.

Entering Birch Bay State Park
Birch Bay State Park stays open year-round with hours of operation that depend on the season. During the summer, the park opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at dusk. Once winter rolls around, hours of operation change to 8 a.m. to dusk.

A.) Memberships dues are approximately $2500.00 USD a year. This includes park dues and individual site electrical usage .

A.) Personal Property taxes on a trailer are assessed by the Whatcom County Assessors office. Property taxes on land are paid by the Park. Inquire at the Administration Center for contact information.
Q.) How is the Park managed?
A.) BBLP is managed by a Membership elected Board of Directors. The Park similarly relies on the input of several Member volunteer committees. Leisure Park also employs a year-round support staff.

Q.) What is the Good Neighbor Policy?

A.) Each Fall, Park staff inspect every site for possible issues with water pipes, trailer winterization, etc., before the winter months. Members are notified of the inspection results.

Native peoples of the Pacific Northwest have frequented the area encompassed by Birch Bay State Park for centuries. The Lummis name for the area, Strav-a-wa means the place for clams. Before European settlement, an abundance of shellfish, migratory waterfowl, and salmon attracted people to the area.
Vast ancient forests covered most of the lowlands in Whatcom County when Captain Vancouvers expedition sailed into Birch Bay in 1792. The south end of Birch Bay was a natural prairie blanketed with bunch grass and wildflowers. Nodding onion and camas, prized for their savory bulbs, were plentiful on this prairie.
The dense forests were dominated by douglas fir, grand fir, spruce, pine, cedar, hemlock, birch and quaking aspen. The forest canopy was so complete that travelers could not see the sky to use the position of the sun or stars to guide them.In addition to being a foraging place for edible plants, the native prairie grasslands provided animal grazing, hunting areas, and clearings for home sites. Only a few remnants of the prairie ecosystem remain in Whatcom County.

The Place For Families Crabbing And Camping
It’s packed on summer weekends with families enjoying the beach and playground, crabbing in season, with some boiling their crabs right there on the beach. The campground is very nice, though we didn’t stay in it this trip. Good restrooms and picnic areas. And of course the beautiful ocean view.

Our family had a very positive camping experience at this Washington state park. Bathrooms in good condition and usually quite clean. Sites were well maintained and spacious with lots of trees and exploring areas within the park. Quick bike ride or walk down a path and across a small steel bridge and you are at the beach including a decent new kids playground and bathroom facilities. We went exploring on the beach and made the sunsets each evening. Birch Bay shops are a short bike ride away for ice cream, coffee, and other impressive treats!Would absolutely stay here again.

It has been an amazing summer for camping in the Northwest. Next on my list is family camping at Birch Bay State Park. I wanted to go scope it out before we headed out- to find the best campsite, access points to the beach, places to buy stuff and determining the sporting equipment that we should bring.
Sounds like a lot of lists. One thing that I have recently been reminded of is the value of lists. On my visit to Birch Bay today, I came across a lot of lists of fun things to do, look at, think about and to eat. I was able to capture quite a few here. So, if your kids say that they are bored or hungry when youre camping at Birch Bay State Park, well, I dont know what else to say- because there are some pretty good lists below. The first list to look at is the number of great campsites to choose from.
Birch Bay State Park campground is a hidden gem, tucked into the shade- providing respite from the sun after a day of play. I rolled through in the late afternoon as most families were getting ready for dinner. I was amazed to find such a vast network of clean and flat campsites with ample room for tents and RVs. The South Campground seemed to be where the tenters and small camp trailers were set up for the weekend. Many paths lead back and forth from the campground to the beach.

A.) Circle Representatives are a group of volunteer Members who meet monthly during the spring and summer months to discuss any Member concerns or outstanding communications. Circle Reps assist Park Members by answering questions or by bringing inquiries to the attention of the Parks Board of Directors for further review and resolution.

Northern Puget Sound Washington
If you are looking to get into nature and you prefer to retain the convenience of nearby restroom facilities and showers, Birch Bay State Park Campground is a great choice. With 170 sites spread throughout the 194-acre park, its pretty easy to find a quiet corner during most of the season. Perhaps the best perk here is the 1.5-mile seashore on Birch Bay, which is directly accessible by way of bridge over the flowing freshwaters of Terrell Creek. This can add exciting water activities to your itinerary, or even shellfish or crab options to your outdoor dinner menu.
Cedar trees scattered throughout the campground’s well-developed community area create a nice atmosphere for picnics, shooting some hoops on the basketball court, or hanging out at the wilderness theater. Groups up to 40 can be accommodated via the one secluded group camp or by reserving a group of five adjacent standard sites. Fees vary with the size of group.
If you are camping on the more primitive south loop, you’ll hear a good amount of wildlife activity from nearby Terrell Creek Marsh. Views are limited from the sites, but you can satisfy your curiosity by taking a stroll on the 0.5 mile Terrell Marsh Trail loop.

Birch Bay State Park Overview
Birch Bay State Park campground is located next to the beautiful blue cove of Birch Bay and has 167 campsites. There are 147 tent spaces in the forested camping area, plus 20 partial hookup campsites for trailers and RVs . The campground also has drinking water, an RV dump station, flush toilets and hot showers . Campsites are reservable for arrival dates from May 15 through September 15. They are first-come first-served other times of the year. Check in time is 2:30 pm and check out is 1:00 pm.
Birch Bay State Park includes 664-acres with 8,255 feet of saltwater shoreline on Birch Bay. In addition, the park offers hiking on the beach and trails with spectacular views of the North Cascades Mountains and Canadian Gulf Islands. Interpretive trails also also access to the rare saltwater and freshwater estuary.
Birch Bay State Park Area Recreation
Outdoor recreation includes boating , clamming, crabbing, kite boarding, kayaking, swimming, biking, hiking, basketball, beach combing and wildlife viewing.
Larrabee State Park is just 40 miles to the south and next to Bellingham Bay. The campground has 77 campsites.

How To Get Tobirch Bay State Park
The park is located in the northwestern corner of Washington, 10 miles south of the Canadian border. If you plan on driving, Interstate 5 is the most efficient and direct route up to Birch Bay. You’ll take the exit for Grandview Road/Route 548 and head west. Right before you get to the ocean, you’ll turn right on Point Whitehorn Road, which turns into Birch Bay Drive and leads into the park.
