Located in Butler TN on Watauga Lake, Bayview Family Campground and Marina has more than 40 campsites, 35 boat slips and 10 jet ski slips that are seasonally leased.
No tent camping is available.
The Bayview season runs from April 1 through November 1.
Amenities include a covered gazebo, a covered picnic shelter, playground and an artesian water well for your enjoyment.

Fish Springs Marina Campground
Campsites at the Fish Springs Marina Campground are available by 1-year lease.
Designed for RVs, the campground is open year round with fresh water provided from April 1 to October 31. The campsite is usually full, you can be added to the waiting list by calling 423-768-2336.

This campground has plenty of space between pads. There is always something going on at these Boone camping sites, like special music festivals.
Dennis Cove Campground Near Watauga Lake
While not right on Watauga Lake, Dennis Cove Campground is part of the Watauga Lake Recreation Zone. Its located a few miles away as the crow flies from the lake and is one of only two Cherokee National Forest campgrounds in the Watauga Lake area.
Located at 2,650 feet and along Laurel Fork Creek, the Dennis Cove Campground is described as secluded, rustic and remote.
The altitude, creek-side location and lush forest surroundings make Dennis Cove particularly desirable during hot summer months, according to a description at Recreation.gov.
Campsites are $10 for single sites and $20 for double sites.
Dennis Cove Campground has 15 single campsites, including two-double campsites. For large parties, its possible to reserve the entire campground for retreats and other events.
Amenities include flush toilets. Each site features a table, fire ring and lantern holder.
The campground is open mid-May to mid-October.
Along with the water activities at nearby Watauga Lake, this campground offers fishing and hiking. Laurel Fork Creek is stocked with rainbow trout below the campground. The creek above the campground is managed as a wild trout stream with browns, rainbows and brooks.
Laurel Fork Trail follows the creek upstream for 8 miles with twenty-six stream crossings.

Yet another state park campgroundin North Carolina, the campsites at Merchants Millpond State Park are sereneand inviting.
The area surrounding Merchants Millpondis one of the most unique in the state. It centers around the titular mill pondas well as a large swampy area. Hardwood trees and hanging Spanish moss givethe swamp a spooky, yet beautiful, atmosphere. Opportunities for hiking,bicycling, fishing, paddling, and horseback riding are numerous.
The campground has roughly 20campsites open to tents and RVs. Like most North Carolina state park camping,no RV hookups are available. The area is also notable for its 5 designatedbackpacking campsites and its 3 designated paddle-in canoe campsites.

You will find a variety of things to do at this National Park. Fish in Lake Price or canoe around it and enjoy the awesome scenery. Three Appalachian hiking paths run through this park. Grandfather Mountain State Park

Camping is allowed with a permit at 13 backpack camping sites along the trail system including the Hi-Balsam Shelter. At this time, there is no fee for camping or hiking however, camping permits are required. Campers must self-register at the trailheads. Permits can be obtained from the Profile Trailhead parking area located off of Hwy 105 and along the Tanawha Trail before accessing the Nuwati and Daniel Boone Scout Trails located off of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
In addition to completing a permit, campers are asked to mark on the Campsites in Use form which site they will be camping at and the date the site will be occupied.Campers must leave vehicles at either the Profile Trail or Blue Ridge Parkway trailheads no vehicles can be left overnight in the Grandfather Mountain attraction. Camping is permitted in designated areas only – identified by nearby signs and a camping icon on the trail map.
Fires are permitted at most lower elevation campsites, but not on Grandfather Trail or at the Hi-Balsam Shelter. Fire rings are provided but must be left in place. Use only firewood that’s on the ground. For cooking, a gas-powered backpacking stove is recommended. Campfires may be banned during dry periods. Water is available only from intermittent streams.

Both are easy to explore when you book an RV in Mercer County, WV, which encompasses the area both parks reside in. Camp Creek State Park, in combination with Camp Creek State Forest, covers and protects over 5,000 acres of mountain woodlands, interspersed with creeks, panoramic views, and plenty of hiking trails.

Cardens Bluff Campground At Watauga Lake
For tent campers wanting to be right on the Watauga Lake, this is the spot.
As its name implies, Cardens Bluff Campground is located on a bluff overlooking the Watauga Lake.
Most of the campsites have great lake views and dont forget to bring your fishing pole or kayak as youll be able to do that just a walk away from your campsite.
This is a Cherokee National Forest campground.
While primarily a tent-camping site, Cardens Bluff has at least three sites for accommodating a 30-foot RV, camper or trailer. However, no electrical hookups are provided.
Day use areas are located nearby for those wanting to explore more swimming, boating, and fishing opportunities. The closest public boat launch for Watauga Lake to the campground is Rat Branch Launch just down the road.
Cardens Bluff Trail nearby also offers an easy 1.1-mile hike gaining 100 feet in elevation. See the map a few paragraphs below.
Amenities include a bathhouse with warm showers and flush toilets and drinking water. No alcohol is allowed on the campground. You can burn wood in campfires and charcoal when cooking.
Camping costs $12 per night and reservations can be made here. Families of up to five people and up to two vehicles can reserve one campsite.
Sites 16, 28 and 29 can accommodate up to a 30-foot RV or trailer. See this map of campsites:

This is the highest-elevated KOA campground east of the Mississippi River, and you can normally enjoy a cool breeze here even during the summer months. The Blue Ridge Parkway
There are only two places on the Blue Ridge Parkway to backpack in North Carolina, and they’re both in the Boone Area!
Doughton Park, north of Boone, offers a designated backcountry campground in the beautiful Basin Cove Area. There are numerous sites and a privy. A permit is required, available from the park’s developed campground. For a map of the Doughton Park backcountry, go to this Parkway brochure page and choose the download link for Doughton Park.
It’s great to camp at the backpack sites, stay a number of days, and hike the large system of spectacular trails that surround the camping area. One such hike reaches isolated Caudill Cabin, a late 1800s cabin built when the area contained a vibrant community . Chimneys and other ruins remain.
