Camping World Stadium Seeks $60m For Further Upgrades

Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, has requested an additional $60m to carry out further upgrade work in order to boost the venues chances of hosting more major events.
Leaders at the multi-use facility have filed the request with the Orange County Tourism Development Tax fund, despite just four years ago having carried out redevelopment work to the tune of $207m.
Since initial work was completed, the stadium has played host to a number of top sporting events from the NFL American football league and WWE wrestling , as well as major music concerts featuring the likes of Beyonce and Jay-Z.
However, according to WMFE, Steve Hogan, chief executive of the Florida Citrus Sports organisation that promotes tourism and boosts economic development in Central Florida, said more work must be done to retain high-profile events.
It has opened the door for new business, but I dont think were going to be very successful holding on to it long-term if we dont finish the job and meet some of the basic expectations a lot of those new users of the building have come to expect in a venue of this type, Hogan said.
Initial work was funded by the Orange County Tourism Development Tax a six per cent charge on hotel, resort and AirBNB stays in the region and Hogan said new funds would be spent on further upgrades.

Camping World Holdings Inc. is launching a peer-to-peer digital rental marketplace in May 2021. Marketed as Camping World RV Rentals, the platform will seamlessly connect owners and renters. According to Camping World, its goal is to maximize the owners ROI while allowing the renter to pay less money to have access to an RV. The platform will include both towable and motorized RVs.
Camping World RV Rentals opens for listings of RVs beginning May 14, 2021, and will allow customers to browse RVs and register for alerts when bookings become available. By early July 2021, bookings will open to customers as the rental marketplace enters a soft launch phase before a full nationwide launch in fall 2021.
The retailer says the new rental platform is part of a broader digital innovation initiative. Other recent omnichannel services launched by Camping World include a partnership with BitPay to accept bitcoin and other select cryptocurrencies as payment for RV purchases, as well as the purchase of an online campground booking engine from Nomad Reservations.
Camping Worlds sister company Good Sam will provide products and services such as rental protection, 24/7 roadside support, and membership savings on booking and service fees.
Headquartered in Lincolnshire, Ill., Camping World operates over 175 locations in 38 states.

How To Get To Orlando
It isnt cheap to fly from Lexington to Orlando for New Years weekend. There are round-trip options from United, American and Delta with a one-stop layover but not for under $600 as of Dec. 7. Returning on Monday, Jan. 3 is cheaper than on Sunday, Jan. 2, the day after the game.
Flying out of Louisville is more affordable with some round-trip fares at or below $600 there are even a couple of direct flights, although they are through discount airlines Frontier and Spirit. Cincinnati also has direct options through Delta.
Camping World Stadium, where the game is played, is about a 20-minute drive from Orlando International Airport.
Driving is also a possibility for those up for a road trip. Its a 12 or 13-hour trek from Lexington and Louisville, respectively, and a stop in Atlanta is about halfway.

Things To Do In Orlando
Aside from attending the game at Camping World Stadium a venue which was first constructed as part of a Works Progress Administration project by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1936 there are famous parks in and near Orlando: Disney World, Universal Studios, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and so on.
The Citrus Bowl Pep Rally will take place at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31, and a FanFest will occur from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 1.

Fans wishing to watch some NBA action can do so in the days prior to the game, as the Orlando Magic is home on both Dec. 28 and Dec. 30. Former Wildcat Mychal Mulder, who played 56 games for UK from 2015 to 2017, is a member of the Magic.
In both games, the Magic will host the defending NBA-champion Milwaukee Bucks, who recently signed former UK center DeMarcus Cousins.

Kentucky fans will largely be on the east side of the stadium.
Capacity at the game was limited a year ago, but two years ago, Alabama and Michigan played in front of a near-capacity crowd of 59,746.
