Best Camping Vacations For Families

Ventura Ranch Koa Santa Paula California

THE BEST CAMPGROUND IN ARIZONA/FAMILY CAMPING TRIP

Let the kids splash in the pool at Ventura Ranch KOA, which sits just over an hour outside Los Angeles at the foot of one of Ventura Countys tallest mountains, Topa Topa. Then, take a nature walk, fly down a zip line or race up the rock-climbing tower. In the evening, settle into your cabin or tent . RV sites have full or partial hookups, but no cable for TV. Even better, try a safari tent with a comfy bed and porch, a Conestoga wagon with electric lights, or a tepee. Check the website for information on possible restrictions or required protocols due to COVID-19.

Book Full Cheap Family Vacation Packages

At first, it may seem that it is cheaper to book travel and accommodation separately. Full packages offer many great family vacation deals that will actually save you money. Some of them are even on discount during certain periods of the year. All-inclusive resorts are ideal. Aside from choosing them through a travel agency, you might as well try to find some through your airline of choice.

I was able to book a great deal for Maui via US Airways. The hotel was simply amazing and Ive also saved a lot of money for the actual vacation. It may be time-consuming, but make sure to always compare a full package deal with the cost of booking transport and accommodation separately.

Picking The Best Campsite For Your First Family Camping Trip

Benefits to a Camping Vacation With Kids

With the arrival of spring, now is the ideal time to plan your first-ever camping trip with the children. With most New Zealand children spending an average of 2 hours a day in front of an electronic screen, according to a report compiled by the Ministry of Education, spending time outdoors will be of great benefit to the whole family. While it may be very tempting to just throw a tent and most of your household belongings into the car with your kids, it does require a bit more planning to pull off a stress-free debut camping trip. One of the biggest considerations is the campsite you are going to visit. Although NZ has a myriad of decent, family-friendly sites, it is important to pick one that will suit your familys individual needs the best.

Assateague Island National Seashore Maryland

Nothing says “family bonding” like watching a herd of wild horses gallop full-speed across a pristine sandy beach. That’s exactly what you’ll get at Assateague Island National Seashore, a 37-mile long strip along the Delmarva Peninsula. Camping here is about as rustic as it comes: it’ll be just you, your tent, and a picnic table. But between the crashing waves, the sand dunes, and those enchanting horses, what else could you possibly need?

Camping Salat Costa Brava Spain

Sometimes, you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of a large campsite without wanting to compromise on things to do. We found that perfect haven in the small but perfectly formed Camping Salatà in Catalonia.

Owned by the Terraza Group, Camping Salatà is just a short stroll from the sea and all the local amenities in Roses, Costa Brava. This intimate campsite has a mix of bungalows, pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. We stayed in a Tramuntana bungalow which comfortably sleeps 5 people and is modern, spacious and very colourful outside. Theres no water park here, but there is a 12 x 5 metre pool.

When I first saw the pool I wondered if my teens would complain about the absence of twisting water slides, however, I didnt hear one moan. Strangely enough, they loved it. They particularly loved how close the pool was to our bungalow. It meant that they could pop down for a quick dip before breakfast, or in the evening before it shut at 7pm.

Theres a kids club and theres even an animation programme for adults with activities like yoga, SUP, Pilates, quizzes, food demonstrations, wine tasting, cocktail and mocktail workshops, darts, ping pong, boules, as well as an aqua gym.

As our kids were between 14 and 16 they were told at reception that they could do the kids or the adults clubs . They were lucky to have the best of both worlds.

Distance from Barcelona-Girona airport is 50 minutes drive. Visit Saucepan Kids.com for a more detailed review.

Disadvantages Of Taking Your Dog Pet Camping:

Some Dogs Get Carsick:

My dog cannot take a real long drive without getting sick and we feel both sorry for the little thing and annoyed with the required cleaning.

Depending how far the drive is I might decide to leave him with a friend for his own comfort.

You might have to keep your dog on leash at all times:

Despite the idea of having fun outdoors depending on your locations rules you might have to keep it on the leash all the time to follow campsite policies.

This might be a little counterproductive because your pet wont have the freedom he might be used to. But you have to follow the campground rules to avoid accidents.

having a dog with you may even restrict access to certain activities and areas in the campsite. Some areas in national parks do not allow dogs and other pets and thus you might not be able to gain access to such areas if you bring your dog.

Dogs can be noisy in different environments:

With all the different smell and noises from the outdoors your dog may start getting agitated and behaving differently than what he would at home. He could start barking, sometimes in the middle of the night.

That would definitely disturb your family and others, giving you extra work to keep your pet quiet during a time when you are supposed to be relaxing.

They can also start provoking other animals in the area.

Dogs are prone to accident in areas they dont know:

Spiaggia E Mare Adriatic Coast Italy

Best Camping Cookware For Family Vacations

Spiaggia e Mare campsite hugs the stunning Adriatic Coast of Italy and is the perfect site for a family getaway. Spiaggia e Mare is a medium size site, but we feel has all the amenities of the larger sites without the corresponding price tag locals refer to it as mini Marina di Venezia.

You will find that whichever accommodation you stay in at Spiaggia e Mare, you wont have far to walk to enjoy the private golden sandy beach. We loved to relax at the beach cafe and enjoy an early morning latte macchiato.

If the beach isnt your thing, Spiagia e Mare also has a fantastic pool complex. The main pool is where you will find the more energetic holidaymakers partaking in many of aerobic water activities. Across from the main pool is a Pirate ship, splash park and water slides, which will keep children of all ages happy.

Although Spiaggia e Mare has just one on site restaurant, the food variety and quality is excellent. The menu affords those with an adventurous palette to try a different dishes daily, should they desire to do so. There are also plenty of local restaurants to choose from in the centre of the town.

The childrens play park sits right beside the outdoor restaurant area, perfectly placed for children to play whilst Mum and Dad enjoy a dessert and glass of wine after their meal. Before you know it, your little one will have joined the Animation Team train and will be encouraging you over to the entertainment area for the nightly kids mini disco.

La Garangeoire St Julien De Landes Vendee France

One of our favourite family campsites in France, and in my opinion best for an authentic French experience, is La Garangeoire. This is a 5-star campsite, with a quiet, laid-back atmosphere. Before I started my foray into campsite holidays with children, this was what I thought a French Campsite should be like.

It is situated in the grounds of a French Chateau, in a beautiful heavily forested area on the banks of Lac du Jaunay. The location is simply stunning. As I write this, I come to the realisation that this is my favourite campsite of all we have visited, and there have been many.

If you are after full on activity with waterslides and a lively evening entertainment program look elsewhere. There is orienteering, archery, horse-riding and so much more available on-site, so it is not that it lacks entertainment options, but it is more understated than other campsites I have visited. The entertainment program here is great fun, but more likely to include a cookery class, live bands and games nights.

My husband is an avid runner and loved the circuit training, core and running activities, and I have a horse-mad daughter who adored the on-site equestrian centre. There are also pedaloes and kayaks available for the lake, and a beach lagoon was recently added for those determined to experience the seaside.
