Rv Mattresses At Camping World

Think Of The Weight Of The Mattress

The MOST affordable BUNK model on the MARKET!! | 2022 Coleman Lantern LT 17B Walkthrough

Mattresses can be quite heavy. Ive moved many mattresses and they all have different weights. Most are fairly lightweight when new.

Some folks will tell you that a foam mattress is lighter weight, but Ive noticed that some innerspring mattresses actually weigh less than a comparable foam mattress. It really depends on the cushioning and how the mattress is constructed. When looking at mattresses, keep that in mind.

Also, its important to note that mattresses will gain weight over time. Its kind of gross to think about, but all of the dead skin cells, sweat, and other things that come off your body will make the mattress increase in weight over time. Keep this in mind if you have an older mattress.

How Long Do Rv Mattresses Last

How long an RV mattress will last depends on several factors, such as:

  • What quality of materials was used to make it.
  • How often it is slept on.
  • How well it was treated.

Like most things in life, the better you treat something, the longer it will last.

All things being equal, the two factors that have the most significant impact on the life of an RV mattress are how frequently it is slept on and how well it was made .

To get an idea of how long a manufacturer thinks their mattress should last, consider how long the warranty is.

A bed that isn’t abused should last at least that long.

Why Are Rv Mattresses So Bad

So why are travel trailer or motorhome mattresses often a laughable excuse for a bed?

Most camper companies have one goal in mind – build campers as quickly and cheaply as possible, thus increasing their profit.

If you ever closely look at the build quality of most recreational vehicles built today, you’ll be appalled at how cheap they look and ARE.

The material choices are greatly influenced by cost.

This is why RV mattresses are typically so bad.

A secondary consideration is weight. Installing a cheap, lightweight bed kills two birds with one stone – costs and weight stay low.

Too bad that cheap, light beds often mean a poor sleep experience.

Pillows And More Pillows

Many beds in RVs are positioned up against a wall. I cant tell you how many times Ive rolled over in the night and bonked my head on the wall. Whats a good way to keep that from happening? Extra pillows.

Even if your bed is situated in the middle of the room, some extra pillows can do wonders to make you more comfortable. I often watch TV or write in bed, and some extra pillows to prop me up help make me feel comfortable. Dont go overboard with the pillows, but find the right number for you. Everyone is different.

Types Of Rv Mattresses

Just like your at-home mattress, RV mattresses are made of different materials.

Memory Foam RV Mattress

Memory foam is the most popular type of RV mattress because of the gentle contouring comfort it provides. The foam adjusts to your bodys shape, and most offer great pressure relief. Although memory foam tends to sleep hot, some memory foam mattresses have cooling gel layers or utilize open-cell technology that promotes airflow.

Innerspring RV Mattress

Innerspring mattresses are of the most inexpensive options when it comes to RV mattresses. They are composed of metal coils surrounded with padding for combined comfort and support. Springs have a tendency to squeak, however, and metal coils have the potential to rust. Regardless, some people love the feel of a traditional mattress.

Latex RV Mattress

A latex mattress includes latex foams that are cool and supportive. Latex is a naturally antimicrobial material and is also mildew-resistant, so latex mattresses last longer. However, they arent great at providing cushion-like comfort they often come across as firm.

Hybrid RV Mattress

Hybrid mattresses combine any of the materials above to make a comfortable sleeping experience that is often customized for a specific sleep style or issue, such as cooling. Hybrid mattresses work great for every sleep style and situation however, because they often require many layers, it is rare that RV mattresses are made as hybrids.

Gear Guide: Fall Camping

When buying a new RV mattress, remember youll have to get it in your RV. This means it will have to come in the door and go into the bedroom. Depending on the layout of your RV this can be easier said than done.

A lot of RVs have at least one tight turn before you get to the bedroom. That means you need a mattress that can swing that. Foam mattresses can be bent or stuffed basically anywhere. While I dont particularly love foam mattresses, if you need to make it into a tight space, that might be your best option.

Dont count innerspring mattresses out, though. Many of them can hang a tight corner pretty easily. Get a friend to help and you should be able to maneuver the mattress into the right place in your RV. Just dont go too stiff. The last thing you want is to buy a mattress you cant get in your RV.

Best Price Mattress Memory Foam Mattress

There isnt any special about The Best Price Mattress Memory Foam Mattress. Honestly, its about as run of the mill as an RV mattress can get. Now, youre probably wondering, if its so run of the mill, why it would make this list then?

Well, its very simple: its a bargain. And I know for you bargain buyers, this product review section has been quite unkind to you. After all, most of the mattresses on this list are pretty expensive and out of the price range for people like you and me.

However, this one is right up our wheelhouse and provides the person sleeping on it with a pretty nice place to take a nice long nap. And even though its very run of mill product, it does have some of the features the other mattress have on this list.

For instance, the memory foam does isolate the motion transfer between partners. In other words, if youre partner gets up, the mattress will make sure you dont feel it on your side of the bed.

As mentioned before, this feature is a must for me because Im a very light sleeper and to have it included at this low of a price is a godsend. This mattress also has a 5-year warranty in the case it gets damaged or ruined for whatever reason.

With my proclivity for causing disastrous situations, I could see how this warranty to come in handy. All in all, Best Price Mattress did a great job cultivating a solid, yet unspectacular mattress that I must consider buying because it will do its job without creating any nonsense or complications.

How Do You Store A Topper In The Winter

The instructions for storing a topper are the same as conventional mattress storage. They are:

  • Store toppers away from direct sunlight or fireplaces. Any heating element should be far away from the storage area.
  • Cover them with plastic, waterproof bags. Make sure the bags dont have holes or rips in them.
  • Remove any moisture from the toppers and store them in a dry place away from windows or porches.
  • Avoid the possibility of insects and pathogens by making sure your toppers are completely clean and free of any food particles.
  • Dont store anything on top of your toppers. The constant pressure can destroy the integrity of the material.
  • Avoid odd crumpling or folding of your toppers. Prolonged creasing can distort their shape and their ability to lie flat.

What Is An Rv Mattress

RVs generally come equipped with a mattress in the sleeping area. These mattresses are often overly firm, thin, and otherwise uncomfortable. To customize your road experience and make your RV feel more like home, you may choose to upgrade your RV mattress. This ensures the mattress meets your unique needs and preferences.

The layout of an RV determines how much space there is for a bed. Some have less space for a bedroom, while others include bunks or pop-up spaces that require a smaller mattress. RV mattresses are often shorter or narrower than standard mattresses to accommodate a compact configuration.

Traveling in an RV may shift priorities. While shoppers may look for a high-profile, luxury mattress for their homes, an RV may require a lower profile and simpler construction. Not every type of mattress will work well in an RV. There are several factors to keep in mind, which we will cover in-depth later in this guide. These include mattress size, profile, weight, and overall durability.

Dynastymattress Coolbreeze Gel Memory Foam Mattress

10" Gel Memory Foam Mattress, RV King

With our first non-Zinus product, you were probably expecting some drop-off concerning its quality. However, the Dynasty RV Mattress CoolBreeze Gel Memory Foam Mattress does an incredible stacking up against its competition.

For example, the mattress is made out of a comfortable gel material that will make sure your sleep sessions are full of comfort. I mean, youll never have to worry about not getting a good night sleep ever again with a high-quality product like this mattress.

It also helps that the 10-inch height is separated into four layers, which keeps the mattress in pristine condition. Therefore, youll never have to worry about a lump or the padding leveling off instead, you can sleep comfortably knowing this four-layer construction will keep your mattress nice and strong for years to come.

Additionally, I love that the memory foam is infused with cooler gel beads. See, these cooler gel beads will help keep the memory foam from stockpiling your body heat and making you sweat when your sleeping.

As a person who doesnt move much in their sleep, memory foam often causes me to sweat a lot during the night. But these gel beads will help cool down the temperature and keep my sleeping sessions from becoming a sweaty nightmare.

Memory Foam Rv Mattress

Memory foam used to have a bad name.

It was the hot new thing, but it also slept hot!

These days, look for memory foam infused with gel. It could be gel beads, gel, however they want to label it.

This cools the foam and also makes it less ‘huggy.’

In my opinion , this is the most comfortable bed type.

Like any foam mattress, the good gel foam is on top, while the poly foams will make up the base.

Zinus 8 Inch Spring Rv Mattress

The third product from Zinus on this list, the Zinus RV Mattress, represents a worthwhile choice for any RV owner, even though, it doesnt use memory foam. And honestly, it might be one of the most versatile products on this entire list. See, it offers you a selection of picking between three different style options: 6-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch.

In my personal opinion, Id probably go with the 8-inch as it should get me enough padding/height and its significantly less expensive than the 10-inch. Regardless, I love that Zinus gives you the option to choose which one fits your particular needs best.

Otherwise, theres a couple of other reasons to get a little excited about this mattress. For example, it has a green tea ViscoLatex foam layer to ensure your sleeping sessions reach peak comfort levels.

As a customer, thats all Im looking for out of my new RV mattress something that will make my sleeping experience a pleasant one rather the pain-inducing nightmare my first mattress has provided over the past year.

And then you throw in the 10-year warranty, and it becomes obvious Zinus truly cares about their customers satisfaction with their product. Honestly, if a mattress doesnt a have a warranty, I kind of feel like it means the company doesnt have faith in its product.
