This Idaho forest was originally established as a forest reserve in 1906 by President Roosevelt and was reclassified as Coeur d’Alene National Forest in 1907. Coeur d’Alene National Forest sat, largely undeveloped and ignored by the majority of the country, in part due to a lack of easy transport. After World War II ended, and vehicles became more common, the park slowly saw an increase in recreational activity.

In the early 70s, the National Forest Service conceded it was overwhelmed and petitioned to consolidate a few national forest parks into one park in an effort to streamline administrative paperwork and budget oversight. The request was approved, and Coeur d’Alene National Forest, Kaniksu National Forest, and Saint Joe National Forest were

Damaged Us Flag At Camping World Removed With Help Of Spokane Valley Fire

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. A Spokane Valley Fire Department ladder truck crew is credited with caring for a popular American flag that was in distress.

The massive flag, which is located at the Camping World RV dealership off of I-90, is routinely spotted by drivers not far from the Liberty Lake exit. On Monday morning, however, Camping World staff discovered that an upper section of the flag had started to rip due to recent rain and high winds.

“Your gut just kind of sinks,” said Camping World general manager Mike Justus of the flag that was beginning to come apart when he and coworkers arrived to work. “It’s very dear to me.”

Justus said staff immediately began planning to take down the flag, which measures 40 feet by 80 feet, and replace it with another flag Camping World had standing by. The RV dealership typically has four additional large flags on standby and will often replace their flags every two months as they become worn, according to Justus.

Not long after employees began arriving at work, Justus said the dealerships phone lines became swamped with calls from concerned drivers who noticed the flags tear.

“The flag is a staple of Spokane Valley,” said Justus, acknowledging concerns from motorists.

“We actually came back out to check on again. At that point, it had become wrapped around the pole, but also entangled within the lines and completely destroyed, Justus said.

Live Stream From Lake Coeur D’alene

Once described by National Geographic as one of the five most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Coeur dAlene is 25 miles long and 10 miles across at its widest point, with an average depth of about 100 feet.

Lake Coeur dAlene is a natural lake fed by two rivers, the Coeur dAlene River and the St. Joe River. The single outlet is the Spokane River, which flows to the west to join the Columbia River on its way to the Pacific Ocean.

The lake was carved by repeated flooding during a glacial period when ice covered much of the lands to the north. Its waters have served Native American canoes, early explorers craft, cargo steamships, log drives pulled by tugboats, and today, recreational craft of every kind.
