Established in the 1970s, Moose Lake Campground sits in deep woods just a few yards from Echo Lake in Minnesota. The RV campground is comprised of three loops, and though campers may have neighbors on either side of their site, the lush greenery acts as a screen, blocking their presence. Indeed, it can seem very private. Outside the high season, its not uncommon for a camper to find they have the loop to themselves.
Of the 33 RV sites, 20 have 30-amps electric hookups. Drinking water is available near the restrooms, and during the summer months, showers and flush toilets are open for the guests use. During the offseason, vault toilets are available, as well. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcomed.

Take extra care when disposing of human waste to avoid contaminating nearby water. Dig a hole six inches deep and at least 100 feet away from any water source. When you are done, fill the hole with soil. Never defecate or leave toilet paper on top of the ground.

Most BLM campgrounds require a fee to use a campground. These fees help maintain the facilities. Selecting a campsite is usually on a first come first serve basis. However, some campgrounds take reservations which can be made at recreation.gov. Please obey all posted rules specific to the campground and keep the following in mind.
- Fee sites vary in price. Please check the campgrounds website or call the local field office for details.
- Camping stay limits vary by location but are generally about two weeks within a month period.
- Pay camp fee within 30 minutes of occupying a site.
- A campsite is rented ONLY once it has been paid in full with the pay-stub properly completed and displayed on site and the site is occupied by campers.
- Do not leave personal property unattended for more than 72 hours.
- Due to adverse weather, many campgrounds are only seasonally available. Make sure to check if the campground is open before planning your trip.

Wanoka Lake Recreation Area Wi
Wanoka Recreation Area is located off an ATV route that connects to local ATV trails and other open routes. Visitors may ride their ATV or smaller UTVs to and from the route. ATVs may not be used to drive around the campground for fun. ATVs need to be kept on their trailers or on the parking spur on the site.
Located approximately 7 miles east of Iron River, this campground is located on a 15-acre lake that has panfish and trout. Wanoka Lake Campground has 20 sites. Gooseberry Falls Campground Mn
Gooseberry Falls State Park sits on the shores of Lake Superior about 45 minutes’ drive northeast of Duluth. Its location in Minnesotas Northwoods region makes it popular with hikers, anglers, and anyone who loves spending time outside. Free Camping In Superior National Forest
3.9 million acres of forest coat the northeastern corner of Minnesota, and all of that woodlands make for plenty of areas to find the perfect camping destination. From canoe camping in the Boundary Waters to national forest dispersed camping with some sites suitable for any RV length, a variety of camping can be had sans the campsite fee. Many formal campgrounds, like Harriet Lake Rustic Campground, come with picnic tables, a fire ring, and access to a boat ramp. There are actually many free spots like this, from those in or very near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area to others right up against the Canadian border.
As this is a pristine forest, please be sure to practice Leave no Trace principles, keeping your rig in previously established campsites and packing your trash out with you. These free campsites often come with a vault toilet, but rarely is trash service provided.
South of the national forest, both Silver Bay City Dump Station and the Lil’ Dog Car & Pet Wash, in Two Harbors, MN, offer free access to water, dump station amenities, and a place to dispose of your trash.
Dispersed camping also exists in the Chippewa National Forest or at the established Six Mile Campground near Bena, MN.

Minnesota Koas Offer Free Camping
Several Kampgrounds of America parks in Minnesota will offer a free night of camping on Saturday, May 10, for campers who stay as paid guests on Friday, May 9, as part of Kampgrounds of America’s popular “Come Camp and Care With Us Weekend.”
Minnesota KOA campgrounds offering the free stay are Albert Lea/Austin, Bemidji, Cloquet/Duluth, Jackson, Minneapolis NW, Minneapolis SW, Moorhead/Fargo, and Rochester/Marion.
Since 2004, KOA has offered campers throughout North America a free night of camping each May at participating KOA campgrounds. In 2007, the event was expanded to a weekend event, offering a free Saturday of camping for those who stay as paid guests at participating campgrounds on Friday. Some campgrounds are also offering free accommodations in KOA Kamping Kabins or Kottages, along with recreation vehicle and tent sites.
The event is intended to expose more people to the joys of camping, as well as to encourage campers to both begin camping earlier in the spring season and to consider KOA campgrounds close to home. Expanding to a weekend event allows KOA campground owners to plan more fun activities for campers to enjoy.
For 2008, the event will again serve as a major fund raiser for KOA Care Camps for children with cancer. The 35 camps, located throughout North America, offer children with cancer and their siblings a chance to experience summer camp in a safe environment while continuing with their medically supervised treatments.
