Bear Lake Campground is a perfect spot for fishing, as a tributary of the Cuchara River runs right through the grounds. The Indian Creek Trail #1300 is also right in the campground, which gives you access to 23 miles of trail that can be used for ATVs, motorcycles, or regular old hiking.
Blue Lake is a gentle mile walk up the road for more fishing and pictures of sky-blue water. The campground is surrounded by views of the Culebra Mountain Range, and is within 15 miles of the Spanish Peaks Wilderness area a great spot for hiking.
This is a quiet campground near the small town of La Veta, with a picturesque Main Street where you can stroll and check out some local art.

The Bureau of Land Management is run by the US Department of the Interior. Dispersed camping on Colorado BLM land follows the same rules as that of the National Forest.
There are at least 69 BLM camping locations on BLM land in Colorado.

Dispersed Camping: What Is It
Dispersed camping is the term used for camping anywhere in the National Forest outside of a designated campground. None of the services that are found at a campground can be found at these sites they are found on public property off of National Forest Service roads and may require 4WD, depending on the location. Dispersed camping is FREE and requires you to bring all of your own gear. Although this seems like a free-for-all, there are rules that you must abide by:

Teal campground is on the western shore of Williams Creek Reservoir and features dramatic views of the San Juans towering above the lake. Cimarrona Peak and Chief and Toner mountains dominate the horizon to the north. To the east, Rock Mountain juts out of the surrounding slopes. Behind the campground, the slopes are covered in aspen groves. The 343-acre reservoir has good trout and kokanee salmon fishing in early summer. Small sailboats, canoes and kayaks are frequently on the lake. Hikers can drive to the nearby Williams Creek and Cimarrona trailheads. The campground has two loops. The right loop has just five sites, all with excellent views and lots of shade. The left loop has 11 sites close to the lake. Sites 6-12 overlook the water. These sites are closer together and have less shade, but you are also allowed to walk your tent down and pitch it in small clusters of pines.

Camping In The Town Of Leadville
Less than two hours from Denver on I-70 most of the route, Leadville is a terrific year round destination, especially in the warmer months. North Of Steamboat Springs
Tucked into a narrow north-south valley at the base of Farwell Mountain, this campground offers scenery and first-rate fishing. On an early summer morning, you might wake up to tendrils of mist curling over the lake, a dusting of snow on the ridgelines, and the sounds of 18-inch trout leaping out of the water. Pearl Lake is managed in conjunction with Steamboat Lake to the north, but it is much smaller and attracts a quieter family crowd. The lower loop is lakeside, so these sites are most popular, but there is not a bad site in the park. The upper loop is located on a gentle hill that is just 200 yards from the lake. There is a short trail to the dam, which connects with the 6-mile Coulton Creek Forest Service trail, as well as a boat ramp at the south end of the lake.
If you go: 36 sites for tents and RVs up to 55 feet, two yurts available by reservation only. Many sites are pull-through, but there are no hookups. Site 35 and Yurt 6 are wheelchair accessible. Camping By Mt Elbert South Of Leadville
Whether youre looking to cross Colorados highest 14er off your bucket list and want an early start, or just prefer a primitive campsite nestled deep in the national forest, the following options will suit you well. The trailhead to the top of the 14,440-foot peak are found nearby these three campgrounds. You can also find some free, dispersed camping in the woods around here. The hike up Mt. Elbert takes about 6 hours roundtrip, though it could go an hour more or less depending on your ability.
