The road in is Paved. You may stay 14 at Manti-LaSalle National Forest. about 30min south of Moab up in the mountains of the Manti-LaSalle National Forest theres dispersed camping available for 14 days at a time.. very nice juniper forested sites with excellent views! not super convenient for the nearby national parks, but very nice sites and not crowded at all.

The first gravel mile is leased grazing land with no camping. Then youll see a sign for national forest turning into pavement. I can tell you most sites are small with steep entry/exit off paved road. This is a very steep, windy road with switch backs and not meant for bigger rigs. Im used to CO off roading with my rig but my friend in a28ft Class C had to pull over and throw up due to fear of heights.
Yellow Circle Road Dispersed
Yellow Circle Road outside Moab is a dispersed camping area managed by the BLM. Campers have enjoyed decent cell service out here, and this campsite can accommodate any size RV. Reviewers have reported that some roads in the area will require high clearance and 4WD to explore, but you can find plenty of spacious campsites toward the beginning of the area.
Youll know youve found the designated campsites when you see the fire rings scattered around. Theres also a big open gravel lot. Beautiful scenery surrounds this area, and the sky puts on a show at sunset and sunrise. The GPS coordinates for this spot are 38.429, -109.4215.

There are a thousand reasons to visit Moab from visiting Arches and Canyonlands to rafting, mountain biking, hiking, and climbing to just chilling out in town.
And, although the many developed campgrounds around Moab are top-notch , nothing quite beats wild camping off the beaten path.

Moab Arches + La Sal Mountains Utah
Willow Springs Road sits on the east side of Highway 191 north of Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. The desolate landscape has a hard surface to support RVs and tents thanks to the expansive Navajo sandstone that stretches for miles.
Few juniper trees and brush dot the sand-covered stone, but the area is mostly devoid of shade. Most people here use RVs for this reason, but there are definitely tent campers who search out the few large trees. There are no set sites, but there are lots of obvious pull-outs and pretty much any open area on the flat stone can be claimed if not too close to the current occupants. There is a vault toilet on the south side of the area, but no water. This is a BLM campsite, so you can stay up to two weeks. You must pack out your waste.
I don’t know the total number of sites because they are not numbered, but there is room for dozens upon dozens of groups and fairly large trailers. The area has some cool features besides being a free yet rugged site near the park. Mountain biking trails begin to the east of Willow Springs Road, which eventually enters the national park through a four-wheel-drive-only access point. There are also dinosaur tracks near the park’s borders.
Camping Inside Utahs Arches National Park
Camping inside Arches National Park is the best way to maximize a short trip since youll be sleeping inside the park. This means youll get to skip the entrance lines and reservations system.
The only designated camping in Arches National Park is at Devils Garden campground. It is located deep in the park, about 16 miles from the entrance.
There is no cellular phone reception at Devils Garden.
Individual campsite fees at Devils Garden are $25 per night and cover up to 10 people and 2 vehicles.
What to expect camping in Arches National Park?
If camping in Arches National Park, Devils Garden campground offers 51 campsites year-round with picnic tables, fire rings, flush toilets and vault toilets. No hookups are available at Devils Garden. The campground does not have showers, an RV dumpstation or potable water.
Peak season reservations can be made up to one year in advance on recreation.gov. Peak season runs from March 1 to October 31 and reservations are highly recommended. The remainder of the year, all campsites are operated on a first come-first serve basis.

Free Dispersed Camping At Blm 143 Dinosaur Tracks Near Arches National Park
If you are coming from the North you will see tons of free camping areas along highway 191 on your way to Arches National Park or Moab, UT.
There are at least five BLM camping areas but our favorite so far is BLM 143 more commonly known as Dinosaur Tracks.

Its a little further away from everything than some of the other free camping areas but the closer you get to the park or Moab the more crowded the free camping gets.
That doesnt mean Dinosaur Tracks doesnt get crowded. Its a popular area, especially for big rigs, large RVs, and mountain bikers.
Thats right, Dinosaur Tracks is also the trailhead to a ton of awesome mountain biking trails that take you all over the desert. The trails range from easy to expert and its free for everyone.
When you first turn off the highway onto BLM 143 you cross some train tracks and come to a large open parking area where you can spend the night if you dont want to drive the mile or so to the main camping area.
The road is really washboardy so if youre only planning on staying a night you may want to stay closer to the main road.
After the parking area, you can continue to the right which will take you to dinosaur tracks and the main camping area.

A Word On Dispersed Camping Etiquette
Much of the land surrounding Moab is public, with the majority of those public lands falling under the umbrella of the Bureau of Land Management. BLM land in Moab is utilized to its full potential, usually by ranchers, farmers, and recreationists.
Dogs are also allowed on BLM land! Just be sure to pick up after them and bring enough food/water for them.
As nice as free camping can be for your wallet, it comes with a few sacrifices and a lot more responsibility.
All dispersed camping in Moabs BLM land requires solid human waste to be packed out. All garbage needs to be packed out of these areas, and you must bring your own water .

Keep in mind that there are maintained campgrounds managed by the BLM that are NOT free, so if you are planning on staying on BLM land, make sure its not a campsite that you have to pay for. The campgrounds will be well-marked if you have to pay, and they usually have more amenities such as fire rings, grills, and toilets.

Moab Boondocking Locations Cotter Mine Campsites

The road into this Moab camping options is Gravel. There are 6-15 campsites at this location and the maximum RV length is unlimited. You may stay 14 days at Cotter Mine Campsites. Free designated campsites along Cotter Mine Road. This road connects to the parking lot indicated by the Mill Creek campsite. Each end of Cotter Mine Rd has an info sign with a map showing where the campsites are. You can only camp in sites with a tent symbol on a stake and you cant build new fire rings.

Just as advertised from a previous post I took my sprinter style van here no problem. I was not camping with a group with a fire so I pulled into what looked like an AOV staging area. No fire ring. Probably not supposed to camp here but I got in late as the sun went down quickly. Seems very safe and accessible to any style vehicle with no trailer. I didnt check previous posts to see what the supposed cell coverage is but I have a 5g signal with t mobile.

Moab Camping Dalton Wells Camping Area

The road in is 4×4. The Dalton Wells Moab Camping Area is open year round. There are 6-15 campsites at this location and the maximum RV length is unlimited. You may stay 14 days at Dalton Wells Camping Area. A free camping area to the north of Arches National Park and Moab. Plenty of spots.
Best Review:
The camping areas are flat and open with full sun. There are lots of roads and rails for jeeps and OHV here. Decent Verizon 4G. No ATT data w/o booster. 4×4 or front wheel drive suggested. There is a sandy wash that you must cross to get to the camping area. Camping is not allowed within 1/2 mile of highway 191, well past the wash.

Blm Camping Near Moab
My family and I will be traveling from Denver on Monday 4/2, arriving early afternoon. We plan to stay 3 nights. Im worried about finding a campsite, but don’t really want to book a room in case we find something. I don’t want to be stuck with a $300 room if we can’t find a site. Any advice would be helpful.
Welcome to the forum. You will have no issue finding a campsite. And you will have no issue finding a reasonably priced room. This week it would be a problem. It will not be a problem next week.
If you want to camp, first shot is driving down SR128 along the Colorado River with great improved BLM sites at a reasonable price. I would be very surprised if you didn’t have a wide ranging choice next week once Jeep Safari leaves town. There are tons of improved BLM sites. If you have a portable toilet, you have virtually unlimited dispersed camping options.
If you’re really concerned about it, book a room now that has a same day cancelation.

On 191, 9.8 miles north of Moab on the West side of the road is Gemini Bridges – a dirt road. There is a simple RV campground there that costs $15 a night and has an outhouse. This site pretty much never fills up completely even when Moab is very busy. This site is not as pretty as BLM campsites, but is a good fall back if you have a problem finding something else – it is also ideally located for visiting Arches and Canyonlands.

Free Camping Near Arches National Park
There is an abundance of free camping on public lands near Arches National Park.
If you are comfortable camping without amenities, then you cant beat the price of camping on public lands. Its free!!
We travel full time in our 37 Class A motorhome and love camping for free on public land. Moab is a great location with nearly unlimited free campsites.

Long Canyon Road Dispersed Camping
Long Canyon Road dispersed camping is managed by the BLM and has wide open spaces and beautiful views. Cell signal is spotty but usable on most major carriers. The longest RV campers reported at this spot was a 29-foot travel trailer.
Reviewers report that the road in is pretty rough, so its a good idea to drop off your camper and scout this one out with your tow vehicle. If you can get to it, the views are breathtaking. The GPS coordinates for this spot are 38.5416, -109.7078.
Toms Best Spring Road
Location: Near Bryce Canyon National Park
For convenient boondocking and dispersed camping near Bryce Canyon, look no further than Toms Best Spring Road.
Also known as Forest Road 117, Toms Best Spring Road is lined with countless campsites, many ideal for even the biggest RVs and trailers.
Luckily, the gravel road is almost always in decent condition. RVs and trailers as well as passenger vehicles will be fine here. Although several flat, spacious campsites are located just off the highway, I recommend driving a bit further in to find something more private.
RVs and trailers should probably stick to one of the campsites off of Toms Best Spring Road itself but I do encourage other campers to explore the various spur forest service roads to find a little more privacy.
Dixie National Forest is absolutely stunning. And the abundance of trees coupled with the higher elevation means its usually much cooler here than many other top Utah dispersed camping areas.
One quick gripe it does get busy here. Its also very dry during the summer. Dust can be an issue if youre parked just off the main road. Youll likely also hear the hum of RV generators at all hours, unless you venture in deep on a back road.

Upper Onion Creek Campground
The Upper campground is extremely scenic and away from the highway. The turn off for Upper Onion Creek Campground is located before the Lower Onion Creek Campground. Located out of town, the night sky will showcase the stars like youâve never seen before. Pit toilets are available on site. Individual sites are first-come-first-served. Group sites may be reserved. The road in is Dirt. There are 1-5 campsites at this location and the maximum RV length is 35 feet. This Moab camping area is at high elevation and one of the notable camping location along the Kokopelli Trail. One of the nicest Boondocking Location in Moab.
Best Review:
Great place with a great view. Google maps took me through sand flats rec area and they require a $5 entrance fee so just be aware of that. The road turns to dirt about a quarter of the way into sand flats and it can be wash boarded at times. The final leg to the sites would be ideal to have some clearance and I would definitely recommend good tires. This would be tricky to get to if rain is recent.
