Munds Park RV Resort is directly adjacent to Coconino tiol Forest in the cool pines of Munds Park. At an elevation of 6,700 feet, the park is a great spot when youd like to get away from it all and stay cool doing it. In addition to Coconino tiol Forest, youll be in a central location to see the Grand Canyon, Sedo, the Petrified Forest, and tiol historic sites all in one trip.

We have been camping near Flagstaff, Arizona since 2015 and it has become one of our favorite areas in the United States. If youre looking for dispersed camping options or free camping around Flagstaff, this is the post for you.
Skip the campgrounds and head into the Coconino National Forest to camp among the ponderosa pines. Below are a some of our favorite spots for free camping near Flagstaff.
Keep in mind there are no facilities at these free camping spots so you are boondocking. However, there are several places to dump your RV tanks in Flagstaff and fill up on potable water. We use Allstays to locate free RV dumps, places to fill propane tanks, and to find more free camping spots in Flagstaff.
Fort Tuthill Coconino County Park Campground
Located just 10 minutes outside of Flagstaff, Fort Tuthill Coconino County Park Campground is a nice, quiet camping oasis here thats just a few minutes drive from local attractions.
If you plan to attend a concert at the Pepsi Amphitheater, its just a short walk away. The surrounding ponderosa pine trees at the campground create a more rustic in the woods feeling which many RVers will welcome.

There are 101 total sites including RV and tent sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and nearby toilets and water spigots. There are 8 RV sites with water and sewer hookupsthere are no shower facilities or electricity. Trails for hiking and camping are available and just a few miles away down Lake Mary Road you can find fishing, water skiing, and a beach at Upper Lake Mary.

The northern Arizona town of Flagstaff is home to 60,000 people and a host of activities that keep its main industry of tourism bustling all four seasons of the year. Why Youll Love Rancho Sedo Rv Park
Rancho Sedo is beautifully maintained and includes spacious sites, clean facilities, laundry, volleyball and, fielded areas. The park has all the amenities you could want. Not only is it close to shopping, dining, and the local Sedo nightlife, but youll also enjoy all the watersports and adventurous activities of the area. These include swimming, watersports, mountain biking, hiking trails, and more.

The longtime home of the Coconino County Fairgrounds, Fort Tuthill evolved overtime into much more than that. In recent decades the park has added trails, the campground, and the Pepsi Amphitheatre concert venue.
This is the largest campground in the Flagstaff area, offering over 100 sites among towering Ponderosa pines. However, the sites are spaced very close together, especially compared to the Forest Service campgrounds listed above.
Hikers and mountain bikers will enjoy the convenience of the local trail network. Out-of-town concert goers coming in for multi-day festivals will love staying on site too, especially since camping for a couple days is way cheaper than even a single night in a hotel room on a summer weekend.
Fort Tuthill is located on the southern edge of town, making it the closest in of anything besides the local KOA, great if youre planning a lot of activities in Flagstaff itself or trying to make a day trip to Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon to the south.

Pine Flat Campground West
Similar to Cave Springs Campground, Pine Flat Campground West offers 60 sites along Oak Creek with almost every site offering quick access to the creek. While there arent any showers available at Pine Flat, campers can head to Cave Springs to use their token-operated showers for $4 each. Or, you can opt to take a true camp shower by washing off in the creek but please only use non-harmful biodegradable soap if you do.
There are hiking trails nearby in Coconino National Forest and ample trout fishing along the waters of Oak Creek. The sites are spacious, and despite the campgrounds proximity to the road, the noise is minimal compared to the respite of the campsites.
They have drinking water and drop toilets. There are a couple of hiking trails near the sites as well that lead up to the top of the plato. Great place to watch sunsets! The Dyrt camper Ruth P.

Okay, listen up! We ALL LOVE our camping, cooler temps, and forest adventures in Flagstaff. The Valley is getting hot and the weekend exodus seems to be increasing in numbers and so is the amount of time spent sitting in traffic on I-17. Not to mention, campsites are full, crowded, and blooming with Charmin-lilies, unfortunately.

Dispersed camping near Flagstaff, AZ is plentiful due to the citys close proximity to Coconino National Forest. In fact, its completely surrounded by national forest. Flagstaff remains a popular choice for dispersed camping and boondocking because of its high altitude and cooler temperatures in summer.
Dispersed Camping Near Flagstaff
If you really want to get out of the city and experience what the forests have to offer, dispersed camping is the way to go. In fact, theres an incredible amount of dispersed camping possibilities if youre willing to explore the dirt roads outside of Flag.
Im not willing to give up specific details on my favorite dispersed sites at large, but heres info on a few areas specifically setup by the Coconino National Forest for dispersed camping. These areas generally have designated sites with an established fire ring, but no on-site water, camp hosts, or any other amenities.
Just remember to camp in already established campsites, clean up after yourselves, and put your campfires dead out. Also note: during times when Coconino National Forest is under Stage 1 or Stage 2 fire restrictions, campfires are prohibited at dispersed campsites.

White Horse Lake Campground
Situated away from everything, White Horse Lake Campground offers a respite from the city of Flagstaff after traveling about 15 miles on well-maintained dirt roads. Campers wont find many amenities at White Horse, just secluded relief and relaxation as well as hiking, biking and fishing at the nearby lake, which is extremely popular with anglers.
There are plenty of trees to offer shade at each of the campsites, and there are trails leaving from the campground to explore Kaibab National Forest. Pit toilets are available and potable water can be collected from various spigots throughout the campground.
The view of the lake was wonderful, and we were surrounded by tall pine trees. A bit of a walk to haul your stuff in, but well worth the extra effort of doing so. The Dyrt camper Daniel L.

Wood Mountain Campground & Rv Park
Wood Mountain Campground & RV Park is located in a remote, natural setting reminiscent of a state or national park but is only a few miles from downtown.

Youll be treated more like family than just a guest when you stay at Sunrise Resorts of Arizona. You wont have to leave the campground at all, and you might not even want to. There are many events held on-site throughout the year, including ice cream socials, arts & crafts activities, horseshoe tournaments, and potlucks.

Clints Well Campground is located near a junction of two major roads which provide access to northern Arizona’s National Forest lands. As such it is close to several features of recreational interest. A short drive from the campground is the scenic Mogollon Rim, the two thousand foot drop-off that marks the southern limit of the Colorado Plateau. Also within easy driving distance are a number of forest lakes known for their excellent fishing. A small community which is springing up at the crossroads provides easy access to services such as a gas station/country store and a restaurant.

Ashurst Lake/Forked Pine Campgrounds
Good fishing and excellent views of the San Francisco Peaks characterize these two lakeside campgrounds. is stocked with trout, bass, and channel catfish, and boasts enough wind for windsurfing.
Both campgrounds hug the lakeshore with campsites huddled in a picturesque stand of gnarly old juniper trees and pinyon pines. One of Ashurst Lake’s most notable characteristics is it ability to hold a high water level in drought years. That can be very important here in northern Arizona where less resilient lakes sometimes dry up.
In addition to fishing and board sailing, the lake offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching during the spring waterfowl migration. For a special treat look for white-faced ibises grazing in the
