Belle Campground In Joshua Tree Park
Another incredible option in the actual Joshua park is the Belle Campground. This is especially handy if you are visiting here and didnt make a reservation beforehand. The Belle campground is smaller, with only 18 camping sites but needs no reservations. It is first come, first serve so if you make it in time, you dont even need to worry about reserving it.

Similar to the other parks within Joshua Tree Park, there are no little to no amenities that come with the site. It may not have all the amenities, but it offers an incredible experience being right under the stars in the heart of the national park.
Some things you should know before coming here is that there is no cell phone reception or internet, no laundry, no dump station, and no water. There are toilets and trash collection though! What more do you realy need when youre camping?
Activities in the Area
Since this campground is located right inside Joshua Tree, be sure to go rock climbing, hiking, and of course star gazing. This is the perfect location to get a good look at the stars because you are away from any city lights.
Price
It is $15 a night for 6 people and includes room for 2 cars if the site is big enough. Similar to the other park camping site, not all of the sites have enough room for more than one vehicle.

Desert Springs Rv Hot Springs Spa Park

Where Do I Enter Joshua Tree
There are multiple entrances to the park of which well talk more about in the next question. If you plan to just visit for the day, the main way to enter the park is through the town of Joshua Tree at the junction of Highway 62 and Park Boulevard.
If you plan on Joshua Tree camping, you can take an entrance that leads directly to your campground from the surrounding towns of Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley.
These back roads have less traffic, but keep in mind that they dont connect with the rest of the park.
Joshua Tree Camping Regulations
The following list of regulations is from the parks official website. Make sure you follow these regulations carefully during your visit.
- Slacklines are not permitted in campgrounds. You may not attach lines to any vegetation, including Joshua trees.
- Food must be stored securely where wildlife cannot get into it. You should also store any scented items, such as sunscreen or toothpaste, as if they were food.
- Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Generators may be used from 7 to 9 a.m., 12 to 2 p.m., and 5 to 7 p.m. only.
- California is experiencing a devastating drought, and Joshua Tree National Park is already an arid climate. Fire danger is likely high. Keep all fires contained to the fire ring. Bring your own locally acquired firewood you may not collect vegetation in the park, even if it is dead and down.

Where Can You Go Rv Camping In Joshua Tree
RV campers planning a trip to Joshua Tree National Park have eight unique campgrounds to choose from. RVs and travel trailers are welcome at Indian Cove, Ryan, Black Rock, Cottonwood, Hidden Valley, Jumbo Rocks, Belle and White Tank campgrounds in Joshua Tree.
Not all campsites in these campgrounds will accommodate campers and RVs, so be sure to check the site requirements before booking. The largest campsites in the park can accommodate RVs of up to 42 feet. If your rig is larger than this, consider camping on the Bureau of Land Management land just outside of the park or in a nearby private campground.

Rv Camping In Joshua Tree At Black Rock Campground
With 99 campsites, the Black Rock Campground is one of the largest campgrounds in Joshua Tree. The campground is on the north side of the park and is only five minutes from Yucca Valley, where you will find grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants.
Black Rock Campground is an excellent choice for RVers with larger rigs. There are six sites in the campground that can accommodate a maximum RV or truck/travel trailer combination of up to 40 feet. Seven campsites can accommodate a maximum vehicle length of 42 feet.
Each campsite has a picnic table and fire grate.
Black Rock Campground has potable water, flush toilets, and a dump station.
From June 10 through August 29, half of the campsites in the campground are closed, and the other half are first come-first served. Reservations can be made for all sites starting August 30.
Jumbo Rocks In Joshua Tree
To start off the list, Ive chosen the Jumbo Rocks campsite that is right in the actual Joshua Tree Park. If you are looking to stay right inside the campground, this is a great RV option for you. There are other campsites within the park, but this one seems to have the most campsites with 124, making it more accessible.
To stay in Joshua Tree, you will need to make a reservation, unlike some other campsites that are just first-come, first-served.
Amenities
This location does not offer any special amenities, or hardly any at all. It is truly rustic camping in the national park. This makes for an unforgettable real camping experience away from the world and in the heart of nature.
Before you decide to camp here, you should know that there is no cell phone reception, internet, general store, water, dump station or laundry facilities. No showers either. There are, however, toilets and places to build campfires.

Boondocking Is An Option:
One way to get around camping challenges inside of Joshua Tree National Park is to boondock outside the park. Both the north and south entrances have nearby BLM land that is available for boondock camping. Dont expect services of any sort and be sure to only camp in the allowed dispersed camping areas and not accidentally set up on private property. Many visitors to the park prefer this option for the monetary savings and the peace and quiet. One thing to keep in mind is that boondocking outside the southern park entrance will require a fair amount of road time to experience the main highlights of the park. The north entrance BLM land does offer a less scenic locale but easier access to the park.
BLM land is open and free, but watch the weather forecast to avoid getting stuck during rainstorms.

Which Campgrounds Are Open In The Summer
Belle and White Tank usually close in the summer. Summer campers can reserve a campsite at Black Rock, Ryan, Jumbo Rocks, Indian Cove, and Cottonwood Campgrounds, or try the F/F site at Hidden Valley. That said, even those campgrounds dont usually run at full capacity in the summer.
Camping in Joshua Tree during the summer will be very hot. Bring lots of water and your own shade.

When to Go
Joshua Tree National Park is open year-round, but the busy season is October through May. Since the park sits at the intersection of two desertsthe Mojave and Coloradosummer is not the best time, with daytime temperatures exceeding 100°F. Spring is busiest, when crowds arrive for wildflower blooms and pleasant weather. Fall temperatures are similarly mild. The thermometer hovers at 60°F during the day in winter, with freezing temperatures at night.

White Tank Joshua Tree Campground
Located in the northern end of the park, White Tank Campground is in the heart of the darkest section of Joshua Tree. The location makes it an excellent campground for night sky viewing in the desert.
White Tank Campground has 15 individual campsites, all of which can accommodate RVs and travel trailers up to 25 feet. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire grate.
At White Tank Campground, there are pit toilets. No potable water is available at the campground, so be sure to bring enough for your stay.
White Tank Campground is closed each year from June 10 through August 29.
How To Get To Joshua Tree
To get to Joshua Tree National Park, youll first have to get to a nearby major city. Palm Springs International Airport is the closest airport at about 50 miles away, while Los Angeles International Airport is 143 miles and Las Vegas International Airport is 182 miles.
Then, once you land in one of these cities, youll have to rent a car. While there is some public transportation in the area, its quite limited and the park itself doesnt have a shuttle service. I recommend renting a car right at the airport and then traveling to Joshua Tree via Interstate 10 or California Highway 62.
