Fort Stevens State Park

Fort Stevens State Park lies at the mouth of the Columbia River on the Northern tip of the Oregon Coast. Youll find the rusted skeleton of a ship on the beach evidence of this notoriously dangerous section of the sea.

The moody atmosphere of the Oregon Coast comes out in full-force around here. Winters see big waves and storms, and fog lingers through the warmer months, too but thats part of the charm. Camping is open year-round, and RV campgrounds at Fort Stevens State Park can be reserved for $34.

The staff was incredibly friendly. Clean facilities, huge spots, and lots of great trails. The Dyrt camper Sara S.

Back At Thousand Trails Campground

Back at the campsite, we parked in the parking area by the basketball court and walked the short distance to our tent before climbing inside and zipping up for the night. While we could park at our site while we were loading and unloading, vehicles are not permitted at the tent site. Neither my husband or I liked this, as there has been more than one occasion in the past when weve been forced to exit the tent to sleep in our vehicle due to weather or pesky critters. The campground was pleasantly quiet and after falling asleep, I awoke only to snuggle closer to my husband as the night chill crept into the tent.

We were awakened by the sound of a ball thumping against the pavement and realized that someone had gotten up early to play tennis. Wasting no time, we made our way to the bath house to shower and get ready for the day. The Thousand Trails showers were extremely clean, which I appreciated and the hot shower felt good against my slight aches and pains. Sleeping on an air mattress is not as comfortable in my 40s as it was in my 30s.

The Thousand Trails Seaside RV Resort offers plenty of activities for families. With the indoor pool, game room, clubhouse with TV and free Wi-Fi access, a playground, horseshoe pit, fire pit, bike trail or walking trail and planned activities, youll find plenty to keep the kids of all ages occupied. Seaside offers beach access, fishing, clamming, roadside attractions and plenty of history as the end of the trail for Lewis and Clark.

  • What are people saying about campgrounds near Seaside, OR 97138?

This is a review for campgrounds near Seaside, OR 97138:

“Definitely less than we expected but not horrible! The whole “resort” thing really threw us off! It’s mostly permanent residents, not many camping or traveling folks. It was cleaner than many of those types of parks though, and it was super quiet. We were only there one night and arrived later in the day and left in the morning so didn’t need more than that.If it was called and RV park instead of a resort, perhaps our expectations wouldn’t have been what they were. Overall an okay stop on the map if you just need a quiet place to park and sleep for the night.”

    Harris Beach State Park

Image from The Dyrt camper Lisa H.

The entirety of Oregons coast is beautiful, but the southern coast offers even more aesthetic drama with thick forests pushing up against soft sand beaches and rocky vistas. Explore tide pools at the beaches of Harris Beach State Park, or lay a picnic blanket on the beach to look for gray whales. Expect this park to be busy with both RVs and tent campers in the summer, but the crowds thin out in the winter when you can watch powerful storms blow across the coast.

Theres a beach path for every type of person at this park. Some paths are quite narrow at certain points, some are paved all the way down to the sand theres even a gravel/ dirt hybrid sunset trail for those just looking to stroll Let me tell you though, exploring the beach will NOT disappoint! For all the coastal crags offshore, the panorama is breathtaking in every direction. The Dyrt camper

    Tent Camping In Seaside Oregon

When my husband and I visited Oregon a few weeks ago, I wanted to spend as much time as possible near the beach. While I dont really enjoy swimming in the water, since I was a little girl Ive found the sound of the waves against the shore and feel of the sand beneath my toes soothing. We wouldnt be in Oregon long, as we were passing through on our way to California, but I made the most of it and booked two nights at Thousand Trails RV resorts.

The first, Seaside RV Resort, is located a short distance from Cannon Beach Oregon, filming site of the Goonies, one of my favorite childhood movies, and location for one of a handful of haystack rocks located in Oregon.

Seaside is exactly how I imagined it to be and I could not wait to pitch our tent and head out to explore. I had already regretted my decision to reserve another campsite several hours south of Seaside for the following evening. I knew I wouldnt have enough time to give Seaside the attention it deserved.

We were greeted at the gated entrance of the Seaside RV Resort, a Thousand Trails campground, by Ranger Tom. He was extremely friendly and his warm demeanor and welcome reminded me what I liked about camping- the people. He made us feel right at home as he explained the campground procedures, went over the map with us and directed us to the tent camping area. Yep. Thats right. We had our own area.

Circle Creek Rv Park And Campground

    Seaside RV Resort, OR

Tent and RV campers will enjoy the proximity to Necanium River at Circle Creek RV Park in Seaside. There are 44 paved, full hook-up sites on 11.5 acres of riverside property, where guests can relax after a day of beach classics like arcades and salt water taffy. Seaside might feel like the most stereotypically beach town along the coast, with a boardwalk and plenty of souvenir shops to keep tourists busy. Embrace the pastel covered charm of a coastal vacation, and then retreat to your cozy RV.

It was raining while we were here but its a beautiful spot and if youve got an RV who cares about the rain! I really like the spots towards the back that back up to the trees and the Necanium River. They even have onsite laundry facilities and clean bathrooms/showers. The Dyrt camper Alicia F.
