Be Inspired At Yellowstone National Park:

Best campsite at McCrea Bridge Campground in Island Park Idaho near Yellowstone National Park

Under Yellowstone National Park sits the worlds largest active volcano. What makes Yellowstone so unique is that rather than seeing lava spew from the ground you see geysers and mud pits bubbling and boiling over. These sites are incredibly rare on our planet but are common occurrences across Yellowstone. Among the most famous of these geysers is Old Faithful, named because of its predictability in eruptions. Visitors can get an incredible view of old faithful by heading to the visitor center located just about 30 minutes from the West Yellowstone Entrance.

Geysers are only the beginning of your Yellowstone Adventure Americas largest hot spring is called the Grand Prismatic Spring. An incredible site to see. The effect of the purity of the water combined with the microbial mats that grow because of the blistering temperatures around the spring creates a beautiful rainbow effect like no other.

    Dispersed Camping In Yellowstone

As one of America’s most popular national parks, Yellowstone experiences a high degree of visitor impact. As such, tight restrictions exist on dispersed camping and backcountry travel. The park’s backcountry campsite system includes 300 sites designed for backpackers and backcountry travelers. A backcountry permit is required, and there is a limit on the number of people and nights at any given campsite. Permits must be obtained in person no more than 48 hours before your trip. They’re available at Yellowstone ranger stations and visitor centers. Reserve backcountry campsites — prior to getting your permit — as of April 1 of the current year. Reserve as early as possible demand often exceeds supply.
