Red Wing boasts an incredible 35 parks in its city limits, from neighborhood pocket parks to He Mni Can-Barn Bluff and Memorial Park, as well as a variety of recreational venues, like Mississippi National Golf Links and the Red Wing Water Park. Each provides a wide range of recreational opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages. Public Works staff work continuously to balance maintenance and acquisition with the construction and development of new recreational areas. Resident and volunteer involvement are key factors in the success of our beautiful parks.

    36 Holes of Golf. Two unique 18 hole courses differing golf experiences. The Lowlands is a traditional course with rolling hills and large greens the Highlands is a scenic and visually challenging course that offers many vistas of the river valley. Both courses are a fun test of golf.

  • No Frills Tent Camping At Natural Chimneys $74

    ** SOLD OUT**

    6 people and 2 tents max per site. Good for 3 nights . You get a flat 15 X 15 plot to set up your tent, chairs and maybe even a foosball tableas long as it fits, go for it! The sites are nice but its not glamping, there are no hook ups for electricity or water. No fires, and most importantly, no cars. Folks camping here must park in the general admission parking lot and walk in with their stuff, so pack smart! And since you will be parked in the GA parking lot, dont forget to purchase a parking permit for each vehicle . 3-day wristbands are required for all camping guests! NO PETS.

    Chimney Ridge Camping $114

    ** SOLD OUT**

    2 tents, 4 people and 1 vehicle max per site. Good for 4 nights . Two options for Chimney Ridge camping: 1) Camp beside your car or 2) Park and walk to a spot of your choosing. When you arrive at Chimney Ridge, festival staff will direct you to your preferred area. Small campers without generators are allowed, click on the link below for Chimney Ridge small camper guidelines. Once the festival begins on Friday, there will be limited access to drive into Chimney Ridge. Basically, once youre there, plan to stay! 3-day wristbands required for all camping guests! NO PETS.

    IMPORTANT: Please do not arrive sooner than the assigned check-in time for your designated camping area. Our main gate and parking areas are unable to accommodate early arrivals. Anyone arriving ahead of their assigned check-in time will be asked to leave Natural Chimneys Park and the festival grounds to return at the appropriate time. Following the assigned times will allow us to more quickly get you checked in and on your way to your camping area.

    Hay Creek Valley Campground: Red Wing Minnesota

    If you arent looking at traveling far from our headquarters to use your trailer, this is the place for you. Hay Creek Valley Campground is the perfect pit-stop to make. Located on the edge of Red Wing, it isnt a far drive from the downtown area. Youll be able to explore along the Mississippi River, shop in town, and then head to your campsite for the night.

    Red Wing’s Sheldon Theatre offers year-round events ranging from theater, music, films, dance and lectures. October sees the annual Red Wing Arts Festival and June an annual Country Music Festival. In July the city hosts a Blues Festival. You’ll also find such events as Pottery Conventions, the Fathers Day Classic Car Show, the Memorial Day Air Show and a Bluegrass Festival and pig roasts and chili cook-offs at the island. In winter, two ski centers at Welch Village and Mount Frontenac will keep you fully occupied.

    Quiet Minnesota River Town Is A Great Place To Escape

    The charming town of Red Wing, Minnesota is nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River. Its named after the symbol of the Mdewakanton Dakota tribe, which was a swans wing dyed red.

    If youre a history or architecture buff, dont miss the St. James Hotel in the heart of downtown. Built in 1875 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, its been restored to its original Victorian elegance.

    This is a great place for strolling. In summer, hundreds of flower baskets line the streets, courtesy of a joint city/Kiwanis Club project.

    Its very relaxing to browse through antique shops and watch the boats from Levee Park behind the hotel. Red Wing is known for its salt-glazed pottery and Red Wing shoes, so enjoy visiting the Red Wing Shoe Museum and the Historic Pottery District.     Youll also want to see the renovated Sheldon Theater which was Americas first municipal theater built in 1904.
