Theres a reason thousands of people from all over the country come here to camp. The park itself has so many hiking opportunities, waterfalls, and overlooks. Group Reservation & Cancellation Policies
Groups may reserve multiple cabins up to 5 years in advance at resort parks and up to 2 years in advance at all other parks. Group reservations must be made by contacting the park directly.
The rental of 4 or more cabins constitutes a group reservation. Groups that have 4 or more cabins reserved must cancel 45 days prior to the scheduled arrival date to receive a full refund . For more information on group cabin reservations or cancellations, please contact the park directly.
Directions Parking & Regulations
The park is accessible via TN-284 from both the southwest and northeast once inside, designated parking areas are clearly marked, and some campsites are park-on.
Each campsite can hold no more than eight people and one camping unit . Only certified heat-treated firewood and wood collected within the park is allowed untreated wood is prohibited from being brought into the park.

Other Tips For Camping At Fall Creek Falls
The Snackbar Grill has only one outlet in the dining area, but they also offer free wifi. Depending on the season that you go, this would be an ideal spot to work on whatever you need to if you cant go off-the-grid completely. But, it was also brought to my attention by my friend in December that the campgrounds also have free wifi. I dont know how I missed this detail in November. This was also a shocking factor to me because wifi is not something you typically see while camping. Of course, this could be seen negatively or positively depending on how you want your camping experience to go. But knowing that wifi is an option is quite nice if you ask me.

Falls Creek Campground is located on the south shore of Quinault Lake next to Falls Creek, a crystal clear stream, in the temperate rainforest. A beautiful stand of conifers within the campground provide a dense overstory. A lush understory of rainforest plants provide a scenic setting for a relaxing camp. The forested slopes of the Olympic National Park provide a scenic backdrop across Quinault Lake. Access to the Quinault National Recreation Trail System from the campground. A short walk along the lake shore brings you to Quinault Lodge.
There are 21 campsites that accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There are also 10 walk-in sites for tent camping.Accessible campsites are available.
A day use area within the campground provides a picnic shelter with 4 tables. There also four individual day use sites on the lake that provide picnic tables. Two ADA accessible parking spaces available in the day use parking area. The flush toilet is in the campground and is accessible.

- Best for RVs: Fall Creek Falls Campground is the main campsite and has plenty of space.

When to Go
Fall Creek Falls State Park is open year-round and offers different experiences throughout the year. Peak season runs from April to September . Later in the fall season is ideal as the crowds will have gone and the humidity decreased. The waterfalls are at their most powerful in the winter, making this a good time to visit for those who dont mind a little chill.
Know Before You Go
- Hikers must follow designated trails only, with no off-trail hiking or bush whacking allowed.
- Untreated firewood is prohibited. Firewood is available for sale onsite.
- Most campgrounds are ADA-accessible. Campers with disabilities may receive discounts at some sites.
- You can buy groceries at the camp store in The Village.
Construction Projects At Fall Creek Falls State Park Include Renovated Campground And New Bridge

Pikeville, Tenn. Fall Creek Falls State Park is pleased to announce that construction has begun on a major campground renovation and construction will begin shortly on a new bridge over Rock House Creek.
The campground renovation includes completely updating all 50 campsites in Area A, including new electrical systems, adding sewer hookups where possible, and the replacement of the A Area bathhouse. There will also be extensive work in Area B to include work in and around bathhouse #3, and renovation to campsites 128-143. Several sites in each area will also be made handicap accessible.
The upgrades require the closing of all campsites in the areas where renovations are taking place for the duration of the construction phase of the project, which is expected to be complete in the fall of 2007. Campsites not affected by construction will remain open on a first come, first served basis. The park will not be able to accept camping reservations during the renovation process due to the large number of reservation sites that will be closed.

Visiting Henry Cowell Redwoods
Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains and is most famous for the 40-acre grove of towering old-growth redwood trees. Its historical significance and spectacular scenery draw travelers from around the world. Visitors can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, swimming, and camping on more than 4,650 acres of forested and open land. These skyscraping redwoods were admired by explorer John C. Frémont, President Theodore Roosevelt, and inspired some of Californias earliest redwood preservation efforts. Take a walk beyond the redwood grove and youll find four diverse habitats that this park preserves: grasslands, river/riparian, sandhills, and redwoods. The tallest tree in the park is approximately 277 feet tall, about 16 feet wide, and around 1,500 years old. Keen-eyed visitors may spot banana slugs, black-tailed deer, coyotes, bobcats, or steelhead trout.
A few miles north is the Fall CreekUnit a second-growth redwood forest with a fern-lined river canyon and remnants of a successful lime-processing industry. Fall Creek is open for day use only, and includes almost twenty miles of connecting trails. Parking and trailheads are marked on Felton Empire Road off Highway 9.
Camping In Fall Creek Falls
For many people, a vacation to a state park is not complete without camping. For those visitors to Tennessees largest state park, Fall Creek Falls State Park, camp sites are plentiful. With over two hundred sites available, those camping with an RV or tent can be accommodated. The campground is divided into three camping areas, each boasting a bathhouse, playgrounds, picnic tables and grills, and water and electric hook-up. All sites may only contain one camping unit, be it a camper, RV, pop-up or otherwise. Up to three tents may be used on one site. There is a limit of eight people camping per site. All sites must be paid in advance at the ranger station upon entering the campground. A limit of two weeks is allowed for camping and reservations may be made in advance. Those longing for a more rustic experience can utilize the parks three back-country campsites. All back-country campers must register and purchase a permit before camping.

What Makes It Great
The parks versatility is a plus for all who enter, and that extends to its campgrounds. Whether you want to watch the leaves change in the fall, witness the forest waking up in the spring, enjoy the calm winter cold in near solitude, or take advantage of some outdoor summer fun surrounded by fellow campers, Fall Creek Falls State Park welcomes guests all year. From hiking, biking, fishing, and swimming to cultural exhibits and kid-friendly nature encounters, there are plenty of things to do here.
More than 200 of its campsites are stocked with comfortstables, grills, water, and electricity are available at all of them, while a majority also have sewer connections. Campgrounds are listed A through E, and all have restrooms. Campgrounds A and C both have a playground and picnic area, and RV-accessible sites are available near campgrounds A, D, and E. Elsewhere in the park, 16 primitive sites are available . For serious campers, three backcountry sites can be found along the parks backpacking trails.
Reservations for any site can be made up to 12 months in advance in person, online, or by phone. The park requires a two-night minimum reservation with a two-week maximum stay. Ice and firewood are both available for sale onsite, and most campgrounds are ADA-friendly.
What Its Like Camping At Fall Creek Falls
The campsites are close together and campers will come in and out throughout your stay. But what impressed me most was how quiet it was. Around 10PM the campground is dead and all you can hear is the crackle of dying fires and chirps of night time wildlife. Its amazing how peaceful it is and quite easy to get a good nights sleep because of this. At first, I thought it was just luck that it was like this every night of our stay in November. But no, I visited my friends camping later in December at a different campground area in the park and it was exactly the same there. Of course, this really does depend on your neighbors here, but for the most part, it seems everyone who camps here is respectable and quiet during the hours of darkness.
My other favorite feature are the bathrooms. I think we can all agree that bathrooms can make or break a place, right? Well, camping at Fall Creek Falls will surprise you how nice the bathrooms can be. Even in the campgrounds, the bathrooms are fairly clean and well taken care of. My friends that I visited in December said the same and they were impressed. They have camped at numerous state parks across the country and said that this one had some of the best bathrooms theyve ever seen. I think that says enough. Also, the bathrooms are nicely located near all the campsites. In Campground B the restroom is actually in the center of the circle. This means that no matter which campsite you choose, the bathroom is not too far away.

Campground Reservation And Cancellation Policies
Nightly campsite fees are based on location, season, and site amenities. Fees are subject to state and local taxes and are subject to change. Advanced reservations are available prior to arrival, and may be made up to 1 year in advance. There is a non-refundable $5.00 Advanced Reservation Fee per campsite that provides for managing the reservation system at Tennessee State Parks.
Individuals requesting to rent overnight accommodations must be eighteen years of age or older. A parent or an adult must accompany children or individuals under the age of eighteen years. Valid identification may be requested and/or required by park personnel for verification of age.
What If It Rains
Rain is one of a tent campers worst fears. Going into the weekend that we were camping, we knew rain was a possibility. By Sunday afternoon, we knew it was indefinite. We remembered the covered and screened in pavilion that we had seen in The Taft Village. This became our go-to spot for rain protection. We prepped our campsite for any monsoon that may occur, and drove up to The Taft Village. It was empty by 3pm as the rain started to sprinkle down.
I believe The Taft Village is typically more busy in the summer months than the colder fall and winter months anyways. We were pleasantly surprised with how nice the enclosed pavilion was. We were able to stay dry and set up our laptops on the picnic tables. The pavilion is lined with countless outlets so you can charge anything and everything you desire. As night fell, the rain continued and it got colder. Since the pavilion is only screened in, it doesnt block much wind. But if youre prepared to bundle up, this is the spot to wait out the storm. Also, the bathrooms are only a short walk up the pathway. And, if you ask me, these are my favorite bathrooms in the entire park.
