There are many different ways to camp in Texas, including sandy beach camping, primitive canyon camping and fun-filled adventures at KOA. The decision comes down to the region of Texas you want to explore, the types of amenities and features you are looking for and what activities you want to do while on your vacation.

Wolf Caves Off Road Park

This ranch matches Katemcy Rocks in granite rock crawling opportunity. Just on the western edge of the Texas Hill Country, Wolf Caves Off Road Park is 8 miles out of Mason, TX, and offers trails exclusively for 4×4 vehicles.

430 acres of riding have been made available here but the trails are challenging. Only modified Jeeps will be at home, although there are more beginner-level trails as well. The landscapes and views are absolutely breathtaking all around the park.

Wolf Caves is open on weekends, and you can either buy a Friday or Saturday arrival permit to enjoy the trails. You can stay on-site, either in a cabin or on the RV campsite with electric hook-ups.

And whats the story behind the name? It appears that wolves used to roam around this area, especially near the northeast corner of the property hence why a granite rock formation there was named Wolf Caves. You might still meet mountain lions or coyotes if youre on that side of the park, though!

Gulf Waters Beach Front Rv Resort

Nestled in Port Aransas right next to Mustang Island beach, this luxury RV resort is a great choice for campers who would like to stay by the seaside and get indulged with numerous hotel-like amenities.

There are 158 uniquely designed RV sites. They all have concrete RV pads, a tow parking spot, and a picnic area. Many of them are surrounded by lush vegetation, whereas some of them feature a paver patio, a pond-view patio, a fire pit, palapa, pergola, or a grill.

Lost Maples State Natural Area is famous for its fall hues, but is scenic year round. There are 30 campsites with electricity and six primitive campsites. The backcountry campsites offer the opportunity to backpack with the whole family or relax at the sites with more creature comforts.

Went here on a short backpacking trip with about 10 other ladies and primitive camped about a mile or into the area. It was a GREAT area for all of our tents and a great area for comradery! We had a blast and will return! The hike out to the primitive camping area was moderate and fairly flat. You do cross a creek bed so be prepared to get wet if the flow is good. Campgrounds Near Me: Kickapoo Cavern State Park

Kickapoo Cavern State Park is a unique park that is home to approximately eighteen miles of trails through the wilderness and twenty known caves. There are two caves that are large enough for visitors to explore: the aptly named Stuart Bat Cave and the Kickapoo Cavern. Numerous harmless bats can be seen in the Stuart Bat Cave and visitors who come around sunset can view the nightly bat flight typically from the middle of March through October. Tours of the Kickapoo Cavern are offered on Saturdays at 1:00pm. The state park also has around fifteen campsites and a large group camping area.

One of the best places to camp in East Texas, Caddo Lake State Park is less than 10 miles from the Louisiana border. This expansive state park lends easy access to the bayous of Caddo Lake and features a variety of campsites. Eight RV-exclusive sites with full hookups are available, as well as 18 partial hookup sites where visitors can also pitch a tent.
