Camping On Lake Michigan In Wisconsin

Lower Wisconsin State Riverway

Ep. #818 Magnificent Lake Michigan – Cave Point County Park, Wisconsin

When water levels on the Lower Wisconsin River drop in the summer, sandbars pop up and offer some of the best free paddle-in camping in the state. No permits are required for camping on the bars, but get paddling early to snag one of the best ones, especially if you’re traveling between Prairie du Sac and Spring Green. West of there the river is quieter. For its 90-mile journey to the Mississippi River, the Lower Wisconsin is a lovely, easy paddle, winding between undeveloped shoreline as it heads into Wisconsin’s unglaciated Driftless Region. A few companies offer canoe rentals and shuttles for the popular Prairie du Sac to Spring Green stretch, doable in an overnight trip.

Quiet Camping On Lake Michigan

My family has camped there annually in the summer for maybe 15 years. This last month was just me, and it was still great! Noise of the waves was great for sleeping. This park attracts friendly, generally quiet people in the fall. Still lots of nature activities, and close to the City of Sheboygan for non-nature events.

A great place to get outside and enjoy the wildlife, beaches, hiking trails. Perfect place to hang out with friends family or as a couple.

This state park has more than most states. Although Wisconsin State Parks really stand out and set the standard higher for the rest of the nation. I was there tonight to learn about the stars and planets. Lots of families and helpful staff makes for a enjoyable experience. The Lady leading the 30 minute lecture is a graduate student from University of Wisconsin, Madison. I got to go free because I bought the Yearly Wisconsin State Sticker.

Large park with lots of beach room. Beach in general is very narrow now that lake levels are up. In addition to the beach they have a nice campground but only if u like to be close to your neighbors. No seclusion here. They do have some great common areas near the beach as well w playground and plentiful green spaces for volleyball soccer badminton etc etc. ultimately a nice park in a great part of Wisconsin in close proximity to Kohler and Sheboygen proper.

Middle Bass Island State Park: Middle Bass Island Ohio

10 Great Places for Beachfront Camping in Wisconsin

Middle Bass Island is located just north of Put-in-Bay, part of the Lake Erie Islands in Ohio. While Put-In-Bay is a popular summer destination for tourists, the waterfront campsites on Middle Bass Island are less popular and incredibly scenic. Middle Bass and its neighboring Lake Erie islands are composed of dolomite bedrock. Underground caverns can be found on the island, as well as huge stands of red cedar and high numbers of migrating songbirds.

Overnight dockage is available at the marina, or you can reserve one of the walk-in primitive campsites for free between May 15th and Oct 15th. Bicycles, kayaks, and paddleboards available for rent at the Harbormaster building.

What we love about Middle Bass Island: You can leave your car behind and get around on bicycle, and the state park is on the grounds of a former winery. How to get to Middle Bass Island: Passenger and auto service are available to Middle Bass Island from mainland Catawba. The scenic, 40-minute ferry ride is available several times a day during the summer months. The ferry is able to transport cars, but vehicle reservations are required. You can also ferry to Middle Bass Island from Put-in-Bay/South Bass Island via regularly scheduled ferry service between the Boardwalk dock and Middle Bass Island.

7 Best Places to go Camping in Wisconsin

Despite the fact that Fishermans Islandno longer exists as an island, this tract of unspoiled Lake Michigan shoreline is still a ruggedly charming getaway for hikers, boaters, anglers, and lovers of wildlife. Characterized by lush forests, a plethora of native wildflowers, rolling sand dunes, and boggy wetlands, you could spend weeks exploring this conglomerate of incredible ecosystems, and bonus this is one of the most beautiful campgrounds on Lake Michigan.
