We did not stay in the cabins or lodge so I won’t critique them. We enjoyed our stay here. Many campgrounds but they don’t take reservations. The mini golf and the swimming pool are great. The drive/walk tour of thr CCC buildings is fascinating. The nature center is a must see. The staff is excellent. Highly recommend.

The lodge is VERY dated with neon lighting in the rooms, awkward bathroom layouts, and questionable furniture. If you plan to hit the state park for the outdoor activities, you’ll have a blast. If for some strange reason, you plan on spending a lot of time in the room… stay somewhere else. The on site amenities are good. They have a lot of cheesy activities for the kids and games outside. There is a restaurant on site as well.If you end up with two twin beds, DO NOT move the beds together. The horror of what is under the beds will be burned into your memory.

Relaxing At The Beach
Lake Murray has several beaches which are great to relax or to go swimming. Since the water of the lake is very clean, swimming is a popular activity. Sunset beach, located on the east side of the lake, is considered one of the best beaches in the state park. Despite this reputation, it is often less crowded than beaches on the west side. This is mainly because it can only be visited as a day trip and there are no campgrounds around.
Near the Marina, you will find Marina beach, a beach with shallow areas to swim in. On the other hand Martins beach is a great option if you want a beach close to a campground. A last option is the Resort Lodge beach, which is a small beach section near the Resort Lodge. Lake Murray Watersports is also to be found here.
