Glamping Tents Coming To Cacapon State Park In Berkeley Springs

Destination West Virginia: Berkeley Springs

Regular camping is prohibited in Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.

But what about glamorous camping otherwise known as glamping?

In a deal cut between West Virginia State Parks and a company called Tentrr , Tentrr is going to put up a dozen upscale tents and rent them out for people who would rather stay in a tent than a cabin or at the lodge.

Its sort of an Airbnb for tents.

Tentrr has more than 800 locations around the nation, including nine in West Virginia and at least one on private land in Morgan County.

West Virginia State Parks has yet to announce the deal with Tentrr, but if Tentrr rents at other state parks around the country are a guide, a night in one of Tentrrs tents could cost you anywhere from $100 to $140 a night.

Tentrr tents were seen going up near the overlook at the top of Cacapon mountain earlier this week.

The tents will start at about three quarters of a mile north of the overlook along the ridge trail and will be interspersed over the next three miles about a tent every quarter mile.

Unlike the cabins and rooms at the lodge, the Tentrr tents will be rented out not by Cacapon State Park, but by Tentrr.

Details of the deal between the state and Tentrr have yet to be released.

This is a review for campgrounds near Berkeley Springs, WV 25411:

“I really didn’t want to go camping but was glad I did. When you get to this place you are really off the grid…but it was worth it. Rich, the owner, runs a top notch facility and me and my family are looking to invite family and friends to go back with us. There was soooo much to like about this place that I will not try and mention it…but my favorite spot was the organic garden where you can pick whatever you want when you want!!!! If you go, follow his directions to the place…DO NOT USE GPS!!!!! While it will give you great memories to talk about…you can do without the stress. I know because we followed the GPS…and don’t follow the GPS!”

    History Of Berkley Springs Wv

    Berkeley Springs State Park

Situated within the Appalachian Mountains, and located an hour and a half from Baltimore, Maryland, Berkeley Springs is a beautiful place to visit year-round. This unique location has a profound history dating back to the Native Americans, who discovered, explored, and studied the local hot springs, understanding their widespread use and power in the realm of health.

First settlers arrived in 1730 and were immediately enthralled by the hot springs. Native Americans taught them the use and value of the springs, and word quickly spread amongst dwellers in the area. Once a prime location for the Natives, these mineral-rich springs were discovered in 1747 by Thomas Jeffersons father and named the Medicine Springs on the maps he created.

It quickly garnered the attention of George Washington, whom in 1748, visited the spa for the first time at age 16 and was so captivated by the hot springs that he became a regular visitor. Twenty years later, with the help of family and friends, they bought and incorporated the nearby town of Bath, where Berkeley Springs is located, into a health resort.

From there, the town of Bath was formed , and steamboat inventor James Rumsey was instructed to build five bathhouses and other buildings on the property. The resort was born.
