How To Book A Grand Teton Campground

All Grand Teton National Park campgrounds require reservations through Recreation.gov. Here are a couple of essential things to note for making reservations:

  • Reservations open on a rolling 6-month basis. For example, a campsite reservation for July 1, 2023, opens on January 1, 2023, at 8 AM mountain time.
  • Book these campgrounds as soon as reservations open six months out. Campgrounds book up very quickly. For the best selection, create an account on Recreation.gov in advance and be ready to book at 8 AM on the day reservations open.
  • Pick your campsite ahead of time. On Recreation.gov, you book a specific campsite. Be prepared to secure the correct type of site for your set-up . I recommend picking out a couple just in case the campsite you had your eye on is booked.

Recreation.gov Reservation TipCampgrounds on Recreation.gov get booked quickly. I recommend adding a campsite to your cart right away when reservations are released. You can hold a campsite in your cart for 15 minutes before it is released. During that 15 minutes, I go back and check if I can find a more desirable site. If I can, Ill add that one to my cart. If not, I will book the one Ive already added to my cart.

Grand Teton National Park’s Reservation

Last summer, visitors hoping to spontaneously snag a campsite at Grand Teton National Park had to wait in lines as campgrounds filled up early in the morning. This year, Grand Teton National Park will only be accepting reservations, which opened up this morning at 8 a.m.

Visitors no longer need to worry about lines during the upcoming camping season at Grand Teton National Park. For the first time, the park will only be accepting reservations so make sure to get a campsite while you can.

Campground reservations became available at 8 a.m. this morning. Those hoping to snag a spot for the summer must create an account on Recreation.gov and then reserve a site accordingly.

Last summer, as COVID-19 brought unprecedented numbers of campers to Teton County, campgrounds filled up early in the morning, causing lines of campers to wait and pile up. The move to a reservations-only system is meant to better visitor experiences by reducing traffic congestion, the News& Guide reported in an article earlier this month.

Starting today, anyone can reserve an available spot up to six months in advance. For every day that passes, another new day of reservations becomes available.

Reservations are expected to fill quickly, Grand Teton National Park wrote in a Facebook post.

While most campground sites will be accessible via Recreation.gov, Colter Bay spots will need to be reserved via GTLC.com, and Headwaters Campground sites at FlaggRanch.com.
