  • When to Go

    Camping season at Keuka Lake State Park runs from mid-May through mid-October, the best time for swimming and water activities. The small beach can get busy during summer and holiday weekends, so arrive early to snag a picnic bench. No vehicle fee applies outside of this period. Hiking trails transform into snowshoeing and cross-country ski trails during the winter months.

    • Keuka Lake State Park is set along the northeastern shore of Keuka Lakes West Branch, just 1.5 miles from Branchport.
    • Day-use parking fees apply for all New York State Parks, as do campsite booking fees. Vehicle fees at Keuka Lake are waived in low season.

    Rolling farmland surrounds Keuka Lake, south of Penn Yan in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes wine country. Travelers visit the region to tour wineries, fish for trout and bass or catch an auto race at Watkins Glen International. Family-friendly Keuka Lake State Park has only a single campground, but the surrounding area offers primitive and developed campsites in the event the state park is full.

    Set in the heart of wine country, Keuka Lake State Park offers swimming, camping, hiking, and picnic facilities. At the edge of Keuka Lake’s western shore, much of the 621-acre park is wooded, and the trails offer breathtaking views of the vineyard-covered hills.

    What to expect:

    The park has a beach with lifeguards, a bathhouse, picnic facilities and a pavilion for larger groups. There also is a boat launch.

    There also is hiking along trails that offer views of Y-shaped Keuka Lake from the bluff. Visitors can fish, swim, cross-country ski in winter and hunt in season. The park also offers canoe and kayak rentals.

    Camping is available with 150 tent/trailer sites available on the eastern side of the park.

    Hours:The park is open year round. A vehicle entry fee of $7 per car is collected mid-May to mid-October.

    Swimming is available 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily from late June until early September.

    The boat launch is year round. Camping runs from early May until late October.

    The park has a nine slip marina for launching and docking boats slips available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    The park offers 150 tent or trailer campsites in three separate loops. The campsites are handicapped-accessible with showers, dumping stations, large picnic area with tables, grills, pavilions , playground, and a swimming beach.

    Keuka Lake State Park has a truly charming campground that has 150 tent and trailer sites. There are 53 electric sites among these. The campsites are all very open with the only woods and trees there to create the borders between sites. The campsites while not completely secluded the trees and woods create a slight screen between most of the sites. The sites are out in the open with very little shade. This is great for cooler days but it can be uncomfortable on really hot days when the sun beats down on your tent.

    There are 3 loops and the sites in these loops are pretty close together. If you are looking to avoid a crowded campground, which it can feel like when it is full to capacity, plan your visit for early spring or for fall. The sites are all fairly spacious and can accommodate campers as well as RVs. There is one bathroom in the center of each loop.

    This park is often confused with Cayuga Lake State Park in Seneca Falls, NY. Be sure you’re booking the correct park before making a reservation.

    General Information:

  • Visitors must pay vehicle entrance fees and leave the park by 10PM. Quiet hours are from 10PM to 7AM.
  • If you are arriving after 9PM please call the park at 536-3666. Failure to notify may result in losing your reservation and forfeiting fees.
  • This campground allows 1-night minimum stays.
  • Campfires are allowed but must be tended to at all times.
  • Campsites are spacious, level & grassy, with a picnic table, and a fire ring with grill cover. Sites offer a variety of sun and shade. Tree and shrub plantings offer some privacy between sites.

    Activities At Keuka Lake State Park Campground

    There are lots of things to do at Keuka Lake State Park.

    Boating

    Keuka Lake State Park has an exceptional boat launch with several boat slips for campers wishing to leave their boat docked for up to 14 nights. Reservations need to be made in advance as space is limited as well as filling out and submitting a form. There is a huge parking lot for boats and boat trailers by the beach and a parking lot for boat trailers by the boat launch.

    Fishing

    Nothing compares to fishing in the Finger Lakes and Keuka Lake is no exception. Fish species found in Keuka Lake are Alewife, Atlantic Salmon, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Brown Trout, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Rainbow Trout, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Smelt, and Yellow Perch.

    Hiking

    There are 8 trails in the park. Several of the trails lead to the beach and the boat launch. There are two trails, the Orange and Green Trails that travel deeper into the park and let visitors enjoy the wildness of Keuka Lake State Park.

    Swimmingand Picnic Facilities

    Enjoy the crystal clear waters of Keuka Lake. There is a quartered off area for swimming at the beach with a lifeguard on duty. Swimming is prohibited when the lifeguard is not posted. There is a playground near the beach for kids to play on when they are tired of the water. There are an endless number of picnic tables and grills for enjoying a lakeside picnic.
