Second, there are tons of activities within the park, including nature trails, horseback riding, bicycle trails, pontoon boat tours, fishing and kayaking. And finally, the campground is just a 10 minute drive to the beaches, including Jupiter Dog Beach which is one of the few off-leash dog beaches in Florida. Florida State Park Camping: Caladesi Island State Park

Set on one of the Gulf Coasts few completely natural islands, Caladesi Island State Park offers a spectacular spot for camping, with a variety of activities to enjoy such as swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing along the white sandy beaches. The park also provides excellent fishing, wonderful hiking trails, fantastic bird and wildlife watching opportunities, and canoeing and kayaking adventures. The park is home to a marina and offers boat camping, with electric and water hookups, a snack bar, and gift shop, and there are picnic tables, shelters, and picnic pavilions near the beach. Caladesi Island State Park is only accessible by boat or the ferry, which departs from Honeymoon Island State Park.

The Florida cavern Park is one of the best state parks in Florida to visit and famous for its colorful cave stalactites and breathtaking rock formation.

Part of the attraction of the park is the 9-hole golf course located at the entrance of the park.

A night camping will cost $20, and the park admission per vehicle is just $5. Cave tours will cost you an additional amount that varies, but it discourages schedules during Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Caladesi Island State Park In Clearwater

Youll have to leave the car behind for this family-friendly Florida State Park. But Caladesi Island State Park is worth the extra effort of getting there.

Located on Caladesi Island, just off the shores of Clearwater and a short drive from Tampa Bay, this barrier island offers unspoiled beauty. The fact that you either need to walk across a narrow causeway from Clearwater Beach or take a 20-minute ferry ride from Honeymoon Island State Park to get here is a big factor in just how pristine this island paradise is.

Once you arrive youll find a white sand beach that is teeming with shells and sand dollars which my kids could spend hours collecting. Youll also find a three-mile-long nature trail that wanders through the forests and 1880s Scharrer Homestead .

Beware though, the island is home to Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes. Theyre shy and cautious, so youre unlikely to see them. But dont go stomping through the rocks just in case.

You can rent kayaks, beach chairs and umbrellas to enjoy a long day on the sand and sea. Beware though, that the area is known for heavy boat traffic . And you can either bring your own food for a picnic or visit the on-site restaurant, Cafe Caladesi, at the marina. Theres also a popular playground for young kids.
