If you enjoyed the Guadalupe River in its own state park, you might like to see where it flows through Cranes Mill Park. Here the Guadalupe feeds into Canyon Lake, forming a great fishing and boating destination just an hour north of San Antonio. In addition to 30 RV sites and 34 tent sites, there are also two fishing piers, a marina, and a boat launch.

Enchanted Rock Fredericksburg Tx
Staying overnight at Enchanted Rock campgrounds is a unique experience. This beautiful park is Fredericksburg, Texas just 70 miles from San Antonio.
It is known for the spectacular views of the surrounding Hill Country and for stargazing. The campground features 244 campsites on 13 acres with easy access to hiking areas, ride a bike, fish kayaks.
The campgrounds have been designed to minimize light pollution from nearby homes or businesses so that stargazing can be enjoyed by visitors who are lucky enough to visit during a new moon phase. In fact, this location has been designated as an International Dark Sky Park because it offers exceptional stargazing opportunities without any interference from man-made lights.

Enchanted Rock also provides a variety of campsites. The CCC-built bathhouse has flush toilets, hot showers, and firewood is available for purchase at the park.
They have a primitive campsite that can accommodate up to 25 people each. One area has eight picnic tables, grills, a vaulted toilet, and ground fires are allowed in the park.

Government Canyon State Natural Area 40 Minutes From Downtown
From hidden caves to stunning overlooks to ancient dinosaur tracks, there are a lot of secrets to uncover in Government Canyon. Just forty minutes from downtown, you can easily pop out for hikes like the Far Reaches Trail, but youll want to plan a little more carefully if youre hoping to score some San Antonio camping spots. Government Canyon is only open to camping on Friday and Saturday nights, except for some holidays like Thanksgiving and for special events like wilderness survival clinics and night hikes.
The main attraction of this campground is hiking through the forest, exploring above or below the canyon, seeing the old 1880s period Zizelman House and locating a few of the notable dinosaur tracks. Shut off your phones and open your eyes. Lost Maples is calling your name. Only about two hours away from San Antonio, the drive will lead you to another world with no cell service, but zillions of stars to gaze.

Texans know better than most how to stay cool in any weather, and few methods are more fun than visiting swimming holes like the one at Blanco State Park. The pools were built by theCivilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, along with numerous other construction projects around the park.
