The Best Places to Camp on Beaver Lake in Arkansas!

Everyone who loves nature has to go to Yosemite National Park at some point in their lives, especially for a good camping trip. Nearly 95% of the park is designated wilderness, and there are 13 popular campgrounds scattered throughout the park, as well as backcountry camping for people who really want to rough it. Currently, only the Upper Pines campground is open, and the park requires reservations for entry, even for day use.

About the Campsite: Dagmar Wildlife Management Area is another WMA not far from the County Road 122 campsite above. This camping spot is on a river and has loads of wildlife running through it.

The campsites are large enough for big rigs, and theyre on a loop, so turning around isnt necessary. But even so, there are no amenities at Dagmar WMA.

Best Hikes From Kyles Landing Campground

Check out these incredible hikes to explore while camping at Kyles Landing along the Buffalo River:

Hemmed in Hollow Trail from Kyles Landing is one of the largest waterfalls in the Midwest, towering over 200-feet. There are a few ways to hike to the waterfall. You can hike from the campground and go through the river, or hike from the Compton Centerpoint Trailhead. Do some research to pick the best route for your adventure. This trail is very remote and within the Ponca Wilderness Area.

Indian Creek Trail The trailhead is located on the southwest side of the campground. It is a pleasant hike through the woods featuring a small waterfall.

Eye of the Needle A short 15-20 minute drive from the campground, the Eye of the Needle Trail is known for its hole in the rock eye of the needle features and waterfall. This is considered a hard hike, and hikers will get wet during the wetter seasons.

Buffalo River Trail the main backpacking trail for the national park goes through the campground area.

Mammoth Spring is Arkansas larges natural spring, pumping a staggering nine million gallons of water per minute into Spring Lake, which in turn feeds Spring River, an idyllic spot to fish for trout.

You can learn about the early history of Mammoth Spring State Park at the visitors center and you can also visit the parks 1886 Frisco depot to see an authentic 1900s train station and caboose and check out the remains of a historic mill and hydroelectric plant. Besides fishing on the lake and in the river, you can rent a canoe, kayak, or paddle-boat at the marina, go hiking, or enjoy a picnic surrounded by the beautiful scenery.

Theres so much potential free camping land in the Fawn Acres Road area that Arkansas manages it for hunting and fishing. That means that some of your neighbors at these campsites could be here for days at a time for outdoor excursions.

However, depending on the time of year, you could have the place to yourself. There are four grassy, level sites here with fire rings, and its convenient to I-40.

During hot Summer months, Bull Shoals White River State Park in North Central Arkansas is one of the coolest places to camp. The campground is located just below the Bull Shoals Dam where clear water is fed to the White River from the bottom of the lake making it ice cold. During the day, paddle or fish the river- this is fly-fishing heaven. Or take a hike or mountain bike ride on some of the park trails. Although the park offers high-end RV sites, we like to take advantage of the tent sites just away from the river. At night, a cool fog often rolls across the campground from the river, dropping the temperatures for a perfect night of sleep. While there check out the state-of-the-art visitor center to learn more about the history of the area.

The peak season at Willow Beach Campground has already started but it does not mean you shouldnt find a place to stay at this natural recreational park. Located very close to the David D.Terry Lock and Dam of the Arkansas River, this campsite is a place to bring your RV or even your tent and enjoy the sounds of nature, the beautiful views, and the easy access to the river.

Only a few steps from the Arkansas River, you can find 21 individual campsites and 3 group sites, although those can only be used during the day. Willow Beach Campground has separate sections away from the camp area with nice covered picnic tables, grills, and electric and water hookups at each spot.

The campsite is relatively small but, normally, not crowded. Great for a getaway week, and -this is one of our favorites- its pet-friendly!

Downtown Riverside RV Park is uniquely located on the banks of the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock. Its proximity to the city center as well as nature provides visitors with a myriad of things to do.

From shopping and dining to museums, live music, and comedy shows at The Joint. Outdoor lovers will appreciate the 15 miles-long Arkansas River Trail, great for both walking and cycling.

Also in Hot Springs, Arkansas, is the Hot Springs National Park KOA. KOA stands for Kampgrounds of America which is a network of privately-owned campgrounds throughout the country. The KOA directory lists the organizations many excellent facilities and friendly service.

This site is very close to the actual Hot Springs National Park, as well as the downtown, where you can enjoy the hot springs and relax. There are shops, and all of the same local attractions as in the previous campsite mentioned.

This campground offers shuttles for a cost to downtown, and for free to Magic Springs and Oaklawn when they are open.

This site is unique because it is built into a hillside, and it has terraced sites rather than sites on the flat ground. This makes it visually appealing, as well as a bit more private.

Lake Fort Smith State Park

Nestled in the scenic Boston Mountain Valley, Lake Fort Smith State Park is an excellent destination for camping, hiking, and fishing. Pedal boats, canoes, and fishing boats can be rented from the park marina, but visitors should be aware that stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, and jet skiing are not permitted on the lake. Campground amenities include a swimming pool, a children’s playground, and several picnic areas, and there are 30 campsites to choose from. One- and two-bedroom cabins are available as well, and if you’re traveling with a group, there are two spacious lodges that can accommodate up to 32 people.

RVers will find an ideal setup on this KOA site. In total, there are 75 RV sites, and 13 of them are pull-thru. Youll find 66 full hookup sites and 15 extended-stay suites. If you want to stay in a rustic cabin and travel light, Hot Springs offers several private, free-standing little homes just for you.

Hot Springs National Park has a 4,000 year old natural spring that comes out of the ground at 147°! In the park there are several pools where the water has cooled enough that visitors can touch the warm waters. There are also two private bathhouses that allow visitors to soak in a bath of the crystal clear hot spring water. To camp at the springs you can stay at the Gulpha Gorge Campground which has 40 sites with full hookups including 30/50 amp electric, water and sewer. The site are large and suitable for RVs or tents. They do not take reservations and have a 14 consecutive day limit. Although it is rare to see one, there are black bear that live in Hot Springs parks so be sure to keep your food in bear proof containers.

Hickory Creek is located in the northwest corner of Arkansas and is just southwest of the Hobbes State Park Conservation Area.
