Camping World Extended Service Plan

Ultimately Its All About Risk Management

2022 Keystone Springdale 1800BH | Travel Trailer – RV Review: Camping World

While RV shopping for our 2nd RV, we were mostly looking at RVs in the 3-10 year old range. We did get some quotes from Wholesale Warranties on a few RVs that we got serious about. This helped us plan and budget for the overall cost of a potential purchase. But at the end of the day, we decided to roll the dice and bought our cheap, older motorhome. This means we pay for our own repairs and labor, so essentially we were now self-insured. Hows that working out for us? Lets take a look.

What If My New Rv Is Still Under Warranty

Different components and mechanical parts are covered under warranty anywhere from one to three years when you purchase a new RV or vehicle. Ensure you check the complete Manufacturers Warranty and what items are and are not covered.

Buying a Good Sam ESP will ensure your coverage does not lapse, and youll lock in a more affordable rate since your RV or vehicle is new. Based on GS claims, 3 out of 10 Motorhomes need repairs in their second year 8 out of 10 need repairs in their fifth year and all Motorhomes need repairs by their eighth year.

Schedule A Free Inspection

To qualify towable RVs must be 15 model years or newer, cars trucks, SUVs and gas Motorhomes must be 15 model years or newer with less than 100,000 miles, and rear engine diesel Motorhomes must be 15 model years or newer with less than 120,000 miles. Coverage is renewable up to 18 model years or 150,000 miles. All program benefits are subject to limitations set forth in the current Terms & Conditions.

The Good Sam Extended Service Plan is not available to residents of New York or Indiana. If you are a resident of New York or Indiana, please call 1-866-524-7842 as other products may be available to you.

The Good Sam Extended Service Plan, which was designed for Good Sam by Affinity Brokerage, LLC, a Colorado surplus lines brokerage , is available exclusively for active members of Good Sam. Membership is required for eligibility in this program. Termination of your membership in Good Sam during the policy period may result in termination of The Good Sam Extended Service Plan. The cost of Good Sam Membership is the responsibility of the certificate holder and will be available at the then current rate. The Good Sam Extended Service Plan is available to U.S. residents only.

What Are Contract Warranties And Breach Of Warranty

Contract warranties and breach of warranty. Warranties are common in commercial agreements, especially where businesses are sold. Negotiating warranties often creates delay, cost and friction in such situations, so a creative, clear and proportionate approach is advisable.

Is the enforceability of extended contractual warranties for?

In the Second technique, the drafter has attempted to expressly contract out of the limitation period at the outset of the contract and prior to the accrual of a cause of action. The enforceability of extended contractual warranties depends upon the utility and efficacy of the two drafting techniques employed in the Warranty.

Can you get a refund on a breach of warranty?

If the product persists as defective after multiple unsuccessful repairs, the warranty is considered breached and the consumer is able to receive either a replacement or a full refund. Consumers may also get a refund if they are not able to use their product for a total of 30 days due to repairs.

They are service contracts. Warranties are included in the purchase price of whatever you buy. Service contracts are added on as a separate purchasable item. However, since it is part of the nomenclature of the industry, we will still refer to these RV service contracts as RV extended warranties. Should You Buy an RV Extended Warranty?

A Few Important Notes

If you look at our costs, as reported on in other articles, you will see some of the figures may be a little different. Thats because we sometimes had other, non-qualifying, repairs done at the same time. So it was tricky to determine the exact allocation of costs relating to freight, tax and shop supplies. But the summary above should give you a pretty good guideline.

Looking back, we found we ended up with one major repair/claim per year, on average, with that coach. And honestly, it could have gone either way in terms of whether or not the RV extended warranty was worth it.

But as full-timers who use our coach 365 days a year, and are able to identify and jump onto issues as soon as they present themselves, we personally appreciated having the confidence and peace of mind that having the RV extended warranty policy brought us. It was just one less thing for us to worry about. A mechanical breakdown on the side of the road is stressful enough, without having to worry about the repair bill!

We also did some repairs and trouble shooting on our own, without going to an RV repair facility. Had we done all repairs in a shop, the warranty claims would have been higher.

As inexact a science as our example may be, we hope it was SOMEWHAT helpful.

Who Is The Rv Warranty Seller And Administrator And What Are Their Reputations

Theres a lot to learn when it comes to RV warranty contracts, but one of the most overlooked is the many whos involved! Many buyers dont fully understand that the RV warranty they purchase, whether from an online broker or their RV dealer, is not actually administered by that seller. In fact, claims will be handled by the administrator of your policy, listed in the fine print of your contract. Check out the administrator: what are their hours? Do you they specialize in RV? What is their online reputation like? These are important questions to ask before committing to a contract.

Additionally, the reputation of your seller matters just as much as the administrator. Thats who you would turn to if things went awry with your claim, right? What kind of reputation does your RV protection seller have for not only handling straightforward claims, but fighting for you the customer? They should be fighting to get you back on the road, not fighting to keep from paying for a repair.

Beware Of Ordering Online

I shopped online, selected a product, then backed out before clicking the submit button. I didn’t receive a confirmation notice to my email, but they sent a notice to my email this morning, telling me that the expensive, heavy product will be delivered tomorrow. I needed the item sooner than they could deliver and bought it elsewhere. They said too bad. They must be desperate, beware. I will have to pay return shipping. A confirmation email would have shocked me, but I could have cancelled at that point.

Gizmo said:You have been given great advice regarding the value of having an extended warranty. Generally speaking they are stacked in favor of the insurance company so your more likely to pay more for the premium than in actual repairs. There are of course the occasional horror stories where an extended warranty might pay for itself, but those are few and far between.

Whats The Difference Between Rv Insurance And An Rv Warranty

Insurance is designed to cover costs associated with incidents like collision, natural disaster, and theft. Conversely, an RV warranty will cover the repair expenses for all of the components that make your RV move when these failures are not associated with collision or physical damages.

Warranties are often viewed as an additional peace of mind purchase on your unit, while insurance is a requirement. Having both policies can be the best one-two punch to secure yourself against any damages that can occur while on the road.

Viking Protection Plan Through Wholesale Warranties

Camping World (@CampingWorld)

Note: We do not receive any commission from Wholesale Warranties. The stark contrast in this report regarding Camper World and Wholesale Warranties is due to research and isnt financially motivated.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have Wholesale Warranties. They are an independent broker that will act as your contract provider, not the administrator. Their customer service has been noted to be good, and their white label warranty coverage to be adequate and fair.

Just in case you are not familiar with the term, white labeling means they arent really providing the service. It has their name on it, but it is really some other company working as an administrator that is allowing its service to relabeled under the Wholesale Warranties brand. It sounds a bit sneaky, but it is a common business practice. The important thing is whether the service is good or not.

Benefits of the Viking Protection Plan

*Not Available in California*

The Viking Protection Plan is Wholesale Warranties white-label service contract. It has a similar list of benefits to the Good Sam policy, but the customers appear to be much happier with the product. Keep in mind that these benefits dont apply to all service contracts on their website. This is specifically a list that applies to the Viking Protection Plan:

Which Rv Extended Warranty Should I Choose

Fortunately, if youve made it through the process of choosing and buying a new or used RV and are now ready to add on an extended warranty, you have some really great options. Theres the dealer, where a well-researched policy might make sense. There are also online providers who act as brokers, matching RVers up with the policy that suits them best.

One such online broker is Wholesale Warranties, a US-based company thats been serving RVers for 15 years. They offer competitive pricing and pride themselves on providing the most extensive coverage available in the marketplace.

RV warranty coverage options range from catastrophic coverage to exclusionary plans and may include provisions such as consequential damage, and wear and tear coverage. Wholesale Warranties clients work directly with an RV warranty specialist to receive a full education on what the policy will and will not cover, the simplest way to file a claim, and more, to ensure each RVer feels confident in the choice theyre making.

Above all, Wholesale Warranties makes a concerted effort to educate their customers on what the RV warranty covers, and, even more importantly, what it does not cover. Jeff Shelton, owner and CEO of Wholesale Warranties, puts it this way:

Platinum Rv Roadside Assistance From Good Sam

For RV travelers who own multiple travel trailers, or a motorized RV the Platinum Plan is the one to get.

This plan offers everything in the standard package but it will also cover owned, leased, rented or borrowed campers. The plan also covers 5th wheel campers, motorhomes, and multiple trailers as well as your vehicle.

In addition to the perks of the Standard plan, you also get the following as a Platinum member:

  • Discounts on RV concierge, rental cars, and hotels
  • Car buying and selling assistance
  • 10% off repairs at Anthony A. Martino Company centers

What Happens If I Change My Mind

If you cancel within the first 30 days of coverage, youll be reimbursed 100% of your paid premium, minus any claims that may have been paid within that time frame. If you cancel after 30 days, you will be refunded a pro-rata amount for the months that are left, plus a $50 cancellation fee. That fee is waived if you transfer coverage to a new RV or vehicle.

What Does Customer Service Look Like After You Buy

2022 Coleman Light 1855RB | Travel Trailer – RV Review: Camping World

Its generally not hard to figure out how well a dealer treats their customers. Between Facebook pages, Google Reviews, and even sites like Yelpa business cant hide from their reputation. More than ever, RV dealers are swamped with all the business they can handle.

Dealing with a lengthy warranty claim and going to bat on your behalf takes time they dont have, or may choose not to have if they dont have the staff or the skill. Youll often find the dealer defers to the warranty company, and the warranty company defers to the dealerleaving you smack in the middle.

Wholesale Warranties is the only company with an internal claims and customer advocacy staff to ensure claims are paid fairly, and to help walk customers through the process in whatever way they need.

What Features Should A Good Rv Extended Warranty Have

A good extended warranty should make it crystal clear exactly what it will cover and what it will not cover. A reliable provider will offer a comprehensive suite of options, and work with each individual RVer to find the warranty policy that makes sense for them.

Your RV extended warranty provider should be known for customer service and support, and it should be easy to contact them, not intimidating. Learn from your fellow travelers by checking out the policys reputation with RV forums, consumer advocacy groups, and RV community pillars.

The warranty company should be one thats been around for a while too, at least a decade or more. A good extended warranty should be an asset, not a liability. It should increase your overall satisfaction with your RV purchase, not decrease it.

Why Its Better Than Extended Warranties

The Good Sam ESP must comply with insurance regulations and is backed by underwriter QBE Insurance. QBE received an A+ rating from A.M. Best and an A rating from Standard & Poor. Its worth checking coverage of several plans or policies as some extended warranties limit the number of miles you drive annually or the age of the vehicle.

Some warranties are only covered by the warranty provider whom you purchased through. If they go out of business, so does your warranty. Please note Good Sam only offers a Vehicle Service Contract if you live in the States of New York or Indiana, due to particular laws of the state.
