Fort Patrick Henry Lake is the smallest lake inhabiting Northeast Tennessee, approximately 872-acres in size. This lake is great for outdoor activities such as camping, biking, boating, fishing, and hiking.
Warriors Path State Park is a 950-acre park that borders Fort Patrick Henry Lake. This park is popular for outdoor activities, including an internationally-renowned mountain bike trail system, and a nationally-recognized golf course.
Fort Patrick Henry Lake is also popular among fishermen as it is accessible by many boat ramps and offers a variety of fish species such as rainbow trait, bluefin, crappie, and bass.

Linville Falls Campground Rv Park And Cabins Nc
When you are ready to launch your search for an RV in Avery County, youll need a place to make your temporary home, and the Linville Falls Campground, RV Park and Cabins is truly spectacular. It is near to Linville Gorge, the Grand Canyon of North America, which is located in a nearly 12,000-acre designated wilderness area. There is easy access to many hiking trails and other outdoor recreational opportunities. There is a visitor center with interpretive programming.

Finding Free Camping At Flaming Gorge
Aside from how gorgeous Flaming Gorge is, the beauty of camping there is that much of it is free. The problem is finding a campsite that isnt already taken, or already congested with RVs, or somewhat close to town, or finding a place that has usable cellular data. Thats when it gets tough.
Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is managed by the U.S. Forest Service, as part of Ashley National Forest. Flaming Gorge has its own ranger district, Flaming Gorge Ranger District based in Manila, UT. The Gorge sits right on the Utah and Wyoming border. The bulk of it is in Wyoming, but most of the developed areas are in Utah.
There are many developed campgrounds along both the West and East sides of the reservoir. These campgrounds charge fees. But, there are still many more miles of shoreline and all of it is free for either camping or day use.

East Or West Which Side Is Better
The west side has the more activity. There are far more RVs camped along the west side of Flaming Gorge. This is because it is closer to the paved highway, State Route 530. In most cases, you only need to travel along one to five miles of dirt road to reach shoreline on the west side.
Meanwhile on the east side, US-191 will stray anywhere from 10 to 30 miles from shoreline. Thats a lot of dirt road to drive a motorhome, or tow a trailer along. But the advantage of camping on the east side is far more seclusion, more privacy, more available sites.
As far as cellular signal strength goes, youll find it only in sparse areas in the Utah section of Flaming Gorge. Otherwise, the Wyoming areas on either side have no cellular coverage of any kind. Not even voice comes in.
Paint Creek Corridor Cherokee National Forest
Paint Creek Corridor is situated within the Cherokee National Forest. This area has a warm water fishing pond, several trails for day hikes, and overlooks to observe the stunning Dudley and Kelly Falls. Alternatively, you can take a scenic drive around the area to enjoy the stunning nature views.
Take note that dispersed camping is allowed only on designated sites and alcoholic beverages are not allowed in this area. The area has vaulted toilets.

CHESTER CO., Tenn. Tennessee State Parks announced its annual free state parks day for all Tennessee veterans offering one free night of camping and/or a complimentary round of golf with appropriate identification. The free day on Nov. 11 is in addition to Tennessee State Parks current veterans policy, which includes a camping discount within the state parks system. To receive the free state parks day benefits and extended discounts, veterans need to provide proof of residency with a Tennessee drivers license and proof of veterans status, with a certificate of discharge or veterans administration benefit card. How To Find Free Camping At Flaming Gorge
The way most boondockers go about it is to look at Google Maps satellite view, and simply follow dirt roads leading to water. You can literally park your RV anywhere along the shore. You dont have to park on the shore you can park further inland, but nobody does that.
You will want to also look at a map of campgrounds at Flaming Gorge, just to make sure to avoid camping where nightly fees are collected.
However, the best bet is to rely on Google Maps satellite view because it will show you every forest road on both the West and East sides of the reservoir.
Tellico River Area Cherokee National Forest
The Tellico River Area is a large remote backcountry with over 30,000 acres of land which guarantees plenty of privacy and solitude. It is part of the larger Cherokee National Forest and thus offers plenty of dispersed camping opportunities.
Generally, you can camp anywhere but not within 100 feet of water, trails, parking lots, roads, and any developed recreation areas. Some of the best sites are along the river where you can fish for brook, brown, rainbow trouts and have them over a campfire dinner.

Rocky Top Campground is an RV park for guests 16 and over that is located on 12 gorgeous wooded acres in a country setting. Just 14 miles from Johnson City, the park features large, level, campsites for any sized rig. Most sites have concrete pads and are surrounded by lovely green grass.

Cardens Bluff Campground At Watauga Lake
For tent campers wanting to be right on the Watauga Lake, this is the spot.
As its name implies, Cardens Bluff Campground is located on a bluff overlooking the Watauga Lake.
Most of the campsites have great lake views and dont forget to bring your fishing pole or kayak as youll be able to do that just a walk away from your campsite.
This is a Cherokee National Forest campground.
While primarily a tent-camping site, Cardens Bluff has at least three sites for accommodating a 30-foot RV, camper or trailer. However, no electrical hookups are provided.
Day use areas are located nearby for those wanting to explore more swimming, boating, and fishing opportunities. The closest public boat launch for Watauga Lake to the campground is Rat Branch Launch just down the road.
Cardens Bluff Trail nearby also offers an easy 1.1-mile hike gaining 100 feet in elevation. See the map a few paragraphs below.
Amenities include a bathhouse with warm showers and flush toilets and drinking water. No alcohol is allowed on the campground. You can burn wood in campfires and charcoal when cooking.
Camping costs $12 per night and reservations can be made here. Families of up to five people and up to two vehicles can reserve one campsite.
