Oh Be Joyful Recreation Area
Just five miles from downtown Crested Butte, the Oh Be Joyful Campground feels like you’re in the heart of the Elk Mountain wilderness. This 30-unit campground sits on the Slate River, surrounded by towering mountains. It is a spectacular, jaw-dropping backdrop not far from the creature comforts of downtown Crested Butte.
The recently renovated campground features 12 RV campsites, 18 walk-in tent sites and one walk-in group rest room. Each campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, tent pad, and bear-proof food locker. Reservations are strongly recommended, and with one look at this campground, you’ll understand why. The scenery is mesmerizing.
The campground does not provide drinking water, nor electric hookups or trash service, so this is something to keep in mind before you make your arrangements. The campground does have three vault toilets.
The area of the campground sits on a 600-acre tract of land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. A short hike along the Oh Be Joyful Creek leads to some beautiful waterfalls, and the Slate River runs next to the campground.

How To Camp In Riverside Reservoir Colorado
Colorado in the summertime bathes visitors in mountain sunshine, high-elevation air and refreshingly cool temperatures. Boreas Pass Dispersed Camping
If you’ve exhausted the BLM campgrounds around Lake Dillon, or if you’re looking for something slightly more rustic, the dispersed camping along the Boreas Pass offers exactly what you’re looking for.
During the summer months, Boreas Pass is one of the most beautiful drives in the state of Colorado. Dispersed camping is possible in both Summit County and Park County, through which the Boreas Pass travels. This camping is free, but can be a bit more of a challenge to get to.
Driving through the national forest, you’ll see plenty of opportunities to use a preexisting campsite. Bear in mind, more campgrounds are available on the Como side of the pass, as opposed to the Breck side.
It will probably be roughly a 30-mile drive to the potential campsites from Breck. These sites do not provide any amenities, except for a space to park your car and pitch a tent. You don’t need reservations, but during high season, the majority of the sites will likely be occupied.
But what it lacks in amenities, it makes up for in uninterrupted views of Breck’s best peaks, as well as rolling meadows and explosions of colorful wildflowers.

Dispersed Camping By Boreas Pass Near Breckenridge
A fun summer seasonal route to Breckenridge from Highway 285 in Park County is Boreas Pass. The unpaved road is fine for most 2WD vehicles, weather pending. There is some dispersed camping on both the Summit County and Park County side of Boreas Pass, which goes south from Breckenridge to Como. Its crosses the continental divide.
FREE Dispersed Camping on Boreas Pass Road
Take Boreas Pass Road southeast out of downtown Breckenridge. After several miles youll come upon the national forest. Always use a prexisting campsite, of which there are a limited number on the Breckenridge side. You can find more dispersed camping on the Como side, as well as an official Selkirk Campground, which makes a good base for day tripping into Breck.

Brush Creek Road Dispersed Camping
Not all camping in Crested Butte has to be at a dedicated campground. The Brush Creek area is a dispersed camping site that is open without reservations and is free of charge.
The camping area is often where Brush Creek meets the Upper Kern River, and the best season for camping is summer. Because this is dispersed camping, the amenities are quite limited. No water is provided, though a rest room is available. In order to make a fire, a campfire permit is required. This includes for barbecues and camp stoves, and the use of these may be prohibited if a fire risk is high.
If it seems like this is roughing it, that’s because it is. But for the more experienced campers, Brush Creek provides some of the most VIP access to the White River National Forest backcountry.

Crested Butte, Colorado is a hidden treasure nestled among the Elk Mountain range in the Colorado Rockies. The town is about a four-hour drive from both Denver and Durango, making it one of the more remote locations in Colorado. That means a camping trip to Crested Butte equals unparalleled natural beauty, small-town living, and much fewer people compared with other destinations.
The landscape here is pure Colorado splendor towering mountains loom over sprawling meadows that are practically painted with wildflowers. Crystalline alpine lakes sparkle, while aspen groves flutter among the pine forests of Gunnison National Forest.
With so much natural beauty and serenity, it’s no wonder that Crested Butte is a mecca for camping in Colorado. Crested Butte has so many campgrounds to choose from, all within a short drive from the quaint downtown. The campgrounds in Crested Butte are made for privacy and for tent campers, as they are typically smaller campgrounds surrounded by trees. Crested Butte Rv Resort
Crested Butte is well equipped to accommodate RV campers, as well, particularly if you book at the Crested Butte RV Resort. The park has 18 sites for RVs and is located just a short drive from downtown Crested Butte.
The park does not offer much in terms of tree cover, but it does provide mountain views in almost every direction. The park is open seasonally from mid May through the end of November. Campers can park during the winter, but most of the facilities are shut off during the winter season.
When the park is open, amenities abound. Crested Butte RV Resort features showers with shampoo and soap, clean restrooms, Wi-Fi, barbecue grills, a communal fire pit, concierge services, and stargazing opportunities.
For an extra charge, guests can arrange for fishing trips, too. The park is also dog-friendly.

Campgrounds By Lake Dillon Near Breckenridge Copper Mountain Dillon Frisco Keystone And Silverthorne
The closest campgrounds to the towns of Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Keystone are reside around the Dillon Reservoir. The 6 lakeside campgrounds are found spread around the lake, with either a Dillon, Frisco or Silverthorne address. All provide very convenient access to all the towns of Summit County, as youd be camping in the heart of it. When the weathers warm, the Dillon Reservoir Recreation Area attracts hoards of tourists, escaping their city dwellings for a piece of Colorado recreation close to home. It has two marinas: Dillon Marina and Frisco Marina, both of which rents boats.
The unique venue of Swan Mountain surrounding Dillon Reservoir awaits campers at this site. The dramatic vistas of the Gore and Tenmile mountain ranges are viewable from camp and from the lake.

We are located just 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado, between the historic mining towns of Breckenridge and Frisco. To reach Tiger Run Resort from Interstate 70, take Exit 203 and proceed south on Highway 9 six miles past Frisco. You’ll find our resort on the left side of the roadway, clearly marked with our large stone and wood carved sign.

Tiger Run Resort Rv Park
Upon first look at the Tiger Run Resort RV Park, the words “roughing it” go right out the window. This is Breckenridge “comfort camping” at its finest, with the beautifully cared for and expansive RV park.
The park features full service RV sites, as well as mountain cabins that are beautifully appointed. The resort sits right between the Swan and Blue Rivers, in the shadows of the Tenmile Range. When you think of convenient and comfortable camping, you are thinking of this campground.
All RVs must be 20 feet in length, not including the hitch. They also must be vehicles that are less than 20 years old. The gates to Tiger Run are exclusive, so if your RV is older than 20 years, you’ll have to send current photos of the interior and exterior in order to be approved for a reservation.
The resort operates year-round and features a pool and fitness center, clubhouse, hot tubs, game room, tennis courts, volleyball, basketball, fishing, fire pit, and laundry.

Camping Near Breck Dillon Frisco And Silverthorne All Around Summit County
Summit County is probably the most popular weekend destination for the millions living on the plains around Denver. Summer or winter brings in the masses, looking for the world class recreation like camping and skiing it offers in abundance, and convenience to the greater metropolitan.
The summit county seat and most popular spot for many is Breckenridge, located on the further end than others from Denver, at just a little over 1.5 hours. Combined with Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne and Keystone, are reside by the Dillion Reservoir, the areas most well known landmark, other then its ski slopes.
The campgrounds closest to these cities reside around Lake Dillon, so you wont find any in the town of either Breck or Copper Mountain. Theres also a stash of phenomenal camping north of Silverthorne on CO-9 at Green Mountain Reservoir in Heeney, CO. Most of the Summit County campgrounds reside within the White River National Forest, which does offer some dispersed camping within its woods. For that primitive approach try north of Silverthorne toward the reservoir for forest access points.
Please camp only in pre-existing campsites and clean up after yourself completely. Its best to bring cash if are using first-come, first serve campgrounds. Most campgrounds take reservations and are especially popular around the lakes during peak season.
