South Toledo Bend State Park
South Toledo Bend is one of the newest state parks in Louisiana, it only opened to the public in 2004. Located in Anacoco, this park and its sister North Toledo Bend State Park have quickly become one of Louisianas premier camping destinations. This stunning state park sits on the southeast edge of Toledo Bend Lake, where the varied terrain makes exploring and taking in the spectacular views highly enjoyable.
A boat launch and fishing pier give visiting anglers plenty of spots to cast off. The reservoir holds bass, catfish, bream, and plenty of other targets. A swimming beach is also offered close to the camping area, and the nearby visitor center contains a museum full of indigenous wildlife exhibits where you can learn about the local habitat. Bald eagles are common visitors to Anacoco so make sure to keep an eye out for these majestic soaring predators.
Fifty-five tent campsites are on offer in South Toledo Bend State Park campground, most of which offer a phenomenal lakefront location. Each camping spot has hookups for water and electricity and is open to both tent and RV campers. The wash station includes bathrooms, showers, and laundry, located on-site. Our recommendation for the best tent camping would be to reserve one of the 5 tent campsites located out on a bluff, where the early sunrise views over the lake are spectacular.

Amazing Rv Parks In New Orleans Louisiana
Last Updated on March 21, 2022 by Ted Mosby
So, you have an RV and now planning a trip to the biggest city of Louisiana state. You want to turn your trip into an everlasting experience that will stay with you forever.
But wait, you need accommodation, and for that, you have to reserve a place at an RV Park or Campground in New Orleans, Louisiana.
So, what are the best RV parks in New Orleans, Louisiana, that you should consider? What campgrounds in New Orleans, Louisiana, have the best amenities and services? What RV park and campgrounds are convenient for you to explore the local attractions?
All of these questions are critical that you have to consider before hitting the road. But worry not, Im here to help!
New Orleans is an exciting and culturally rich city that blends the Creole, French, and Southern cultures. There are many RV parks and campgrounds in New Orleans, Louisiana, and one can easily find a perfect RV park located near the citys fascinating attractions.
Here are my top best RV parks and campgrounds in New Orleans, Louisiana, that you can pick one of them when traveling to the city.
Free Louisiana Boondocking In Their National Forests
The Kisatchie National Forest, which stretches patchwork from south of Alexandria all the way to the states northern border, is home to the states majority of free camping destinations. Some of these camping areas have modest amenities like fire rings and vault toilets, while the bulk of them are true dispersed camping. In nearly all cases, youll be outside of a designated campground, surrounded by the dense shade of a pine forest, with no shortage of outdoorsy activities in which to partake.
One of Louisianas nicknames is the Sportsmans Paradise, and with that in mind, expect these free camping options to be busier during hunting season. Some of the most popular, such as the Corney Lake Complex, become a veritable shooting range for parts of the year. Others, like Custis Camp, are small enough that you can either expect to be alone or have few neighbors.
Remember to bring your own water and any other supplies youll need, dont expect to find a full-on camping spot or even a picnic table, and note that youll be more or less camping in solitude with plenty of time to listen to the owls serenade the stars. Do your research, too, as while many of these locations have plenty of space for RV camping, others are better suited to smaller vehicles or car camping.
