How To Spend One Day In Broken Bow
Beavers Bend State Park Hiking
Beavers Bend State Park has several hiking trails, but the Friends Loop Trail offers some of the best views. The trail just opened in 2019 and is 1.5 miles roundtrip. The trail is so new that it’s not printed on many of the public maps of the park as of writing. It takes you through the forest and then along the dam bypass river, offering beautiful views of the water.
For something more challenging, try the Lookout Mountain Loop which has some steep up and down hills. There isnât much of a lookout but it’s a beautiful journey through the forest. For something a bit shorter, try the short Cedar Bluff Nature Trail . It has a great view looking over Broken Bow Lake.
We only had time for the Friends Loop Trail because it started storming on the second morning of our trip. The trail was really nice though, very well maintained and had beautiful views. I would definitely recommend it!
Broken Bow Oklahoma Kayaking
You have to get on the water while visiting Broken Bow and paddling down the rapids of Mountain Fork River is a great way to do it! There are many kayak rental operators in the area but we decided to rent from Tippa Canoe. We parked at Tippa Canoe and they shuttled us up river to the Mountain Fork Park, just below the De-regulation Dam. It was then about a four hour paddling journey back to Tippa Canoe.

Camping In Beavers Bend State Park
Went camping with my son at Beavers Bend. After looking around we picked the Elm campground for a place to pitch our tent. It’s right by the river, very pretty site, though the view is obscured by lots of trees. It’s a 5 min walk to bathrooms and showers, which were clean . It can get a bit noisy during the day: there is a family activity center nearby and there is activity at the nearby river float and fishing area, so for sure you know you are in a family oriented vacation spot, not in remote wilderness . We are definitely amateurs at camping , so appreciated having a country store within the park and a Walmart in nearby Broken Bow for last minute supplies. Definitely recommend exploring the lake itself , still part of the state park, in the area near Hochatown. Some beautiful areas to sit by the lake or go for a swim. Also some lakeside camp sites to consider. We were surprised how empty the park was this time of year. Great for us – don’t know what it would be like if crowded. Call the state park office to check on crowds. Tent sites are first come first served.

Beautiful state park and not far from the DFW area. We stayed in a cabin outside of the park but went into the park for canoeing and hiking. The park was gorgeous and so relaxing.

RATES & DATES: Rates are charged by the number of nights that you are staying in the cabin, not by the days. All cabins have a minimum night stay requirement of 2 nights.
There is a 3 or 4 night stay requirement on all major holidays and selected dates throughout the year. Rates vary by season and there is a base rate for all cabins as well as additional charges for additional guests.
One night rentals are considered and are not available more than 1 week in advance of arrival. One night rentals are considered only if it makes good business sense to do so. We cannot accommodate one night stays in 4, 5, or 6 bedroom cabins the cost to clean normally exceeds our commission. Discounts are not available for one night rentals. Full rack rates apply and include additional fees for outside cleaning services.
TAXES & FEES: All reservations will be charged the current tax rate of 9.25% plus an additional Resort Fee of 9%. Total Taxes & Fees are 18.25%.

Other camping areas add more modern amenities, such as electricity,showers, and sewer hookups. RV sites are also found in the state park. They are popular and inexpensive, roughly $20. It is recommended to call the state park and get information on the availability of these spots.The individual cabins in the park, sleep up to 6 and come with small kitchens and light amenities, some with fireplaces.
