The Cottonwood Campground features individual sites for RV or tent camping, full restrooms with flushing toilets and potable water, electricity, and cable hookups, and a dump station. Pets are allowed, and activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking, fishing, swimming, and kayaking on the San Juan River.

The smell of pine, the sound of gobbling turkeys, and the cool mountain air await you in Black Canyon, just 8 miles north of Santa Fe. While gorgeous year-round, this area is especially scenic in the fall as the aspens turn shimmering gold. Located near the Pecos Wilderness, Black Canyon Campground has easy access to numerous hiking, mountain biking and horseback-riding trails, yet is still just minutes away from local restaurants and attractions on the outskirts of Santa Fe.
The primitive campground at Black Canyon offers 36 drive-in sites that can accommodate vehicles/trailers up to 60 feet. There are also six walk-in tent sites and a few ADA accessible sites. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and grills, with drinking water and vault toilets available nearby. Hookups are not available at this location, but there is a fee dump station located at nearby Hyde Memorial State Park. The 1-mile Black Canyon Trail starts at the back of the campground loop. Dogs are permitted at this location campsites are $10/night.

Nice, hidden RV park. I guarantee you will drive right by it thinking your GPS is screwy. The staff was friendly and helpful. Clean restrooms with showers and laundryIf you need somewhere to basically park and plug in that is close to everything, this is it. You can walk to Wal-Mart, grocery stores, cinema, Meow Wolf. The bus stop is right up on the main road and costs a buck to go downtown to historic Santa Fe. Well be back if we pass through again. Edward, Google review

Morphy Lake State Park

Tight turns make this state park difficult to reach for RVs, but as a result its a haven for tent camping. Morphy Lake is smallonly 15 watery acresbut its setting in a valley shaded by ponderosas gives the park an intimate feel. Campsites perch along the lake under towering trees, spaced so that campers arent too cozy with their neighbors. Each site has a view to the water, and many have access to good canoe launch sites. Although the lake is open year-round , the campsites are only accessible April 1 to November 1.

Aguirre Spring Recreation Area Organ Mountainsdesert Peaks National Monument

The Organ MountainsDesert Peaks National Monument preserves nearly half a million acres of rocky peaks and narrow canyons, much of it in Las Crucess backyard. Aguirre Spring Campground has the convenience of being close to the states second-largest city, yet its location on the east side of the mountains makes the site feel remote. Here the Organs stunning panorama of needle-like spires rises just outside your tent. The mountains seem to hug the campground, protecting the Chihuahuan Desert ecosystem of yucca, juniper, and sage. Its some of the best desert camping in the state. Two trails depart from the site: The six-mile Baylor Pass Trail climbs to a saddle with views of the Mesilla Valley, while the four-mile Pine Tree Trail forms a loop at the base of the mountains.
