Must See Fall Foliage Camping Destinations

Nothing signifies the oncoming change of seasons more than autumns colorful foliage. The change of color is a natural phenomenon that takes place in the tree as the seasons gradually change from summer to winter. In the summer months, the chlorophyll in the leaves gives them their green color. But as the days shorten and the weather cools, that chlorophyll breaks down. As a result, the green color disappears and the famous fall reds and yellows reveal themselves.

This breathtaking natural display is, for many people, a highlight of the year. Are you ready to see the show for yourself? From New Mexico to New Hampshire, we have the ultimate list of fall foliage destinations across the United States, plus where to camp nearby. Grab a warm coat, a cozy blanket and hit the road to see what Mother Nature has to offer this fall.

Reasons To Go Fall Rv Camping The Weather

First on my list: cold mornings and evenings!

Evenings are often cold enough to have a fire. Im not a huge fan of being hot, so its gotta be COLD for me to enjoy a fire, but anything below 70 degrees will do!

Theres just something SO RELAXING about sitting around a campfire with friends and a guitar, singing songs we love, or talking about life and memories or talking about nothing at all. Brew a pot of coffee , make some smores, and just watch the flames dance around the firepit!

Mornings are often MYSTICAL in the fall, too. This is ESPECIALLY true when the days are still warm enough that the water hasnt cooled off enough yet causing fog to rise off ponds and lakes .

The cool, crisp air is invigoratingand its a great time to either snuggle up with your honey and sleep in late, or throw on a hoodie and yoga pants and take a brisk walk!

The people of the Northeast also seem to enjoy celebrating the best of the season, so any autumn trip here is sure to be a treat.

Additionally, water temperatures are still warm and fishing conditions improve. So, if you missed out on a summer camping trip this year, no worries.
