Because of its proximity to Philadelphia, many families came to camp despite predicted thunderstorms on low temperatures. The sites are well spaced, with lots of vegitation between them. The hot showers and toilets are roomy, and well maintained. This year had a cold spring, so the trees are just starting to leaf out. I suspect it will be gorgeous in another few weeks. SteveAz

If youre looking to escape it all, ditch technology, and get lost in the wilderness, this is the RV destination for you and your family.

Kokee State Park offers tent camping and lodging with commanding views of the lush Kalalau Valley from 4,000 feet elevation. The state park offers access to hiking trails in a native rain forest and along the rim of Waimea Canyon trails from Kokee State Park lead into neighboring Na Pali-Kona Forest Reserve and Puu Ka Pele Forest Reserve offering hikers amazing backcountry campsites.

Denton Ferry Rv Park & Resort
A riverside meadow is the beautiful setting of this Cotter, Arkansas campground. As one of the Good Sam Club affiliated RV parks of Arkansas, its guaranteed to be one of the best campsites for visiting the Ozark Mountains. All 44 sites at this park have full-service hookups, and 17 of them are situated on the riverfront. Best of all, there are tons of RV rental options near this Arkansas campground.
Lake Dardanelle State Park
Arkansas State Park camping makes for a truly amazing getaway at Lake Dardanelle State Park. This 34,300-acre reservoir on the Arkansas River has two areas where camping is available.
The main site is in Russellville, where visitors can find the Sport Fishing Weigh-In Pavilion, a fishing pier, boardwalk, trail, and visitor center with five aquariums. Its also a National Park Service-certified site on the Trail of Tears water route.
Programs and tours are available through park interpreters. There are 57 campsites in the Russellville area of the park with 16 Class AAA , 14 Class AA , and 27 Class B . There are 18 Class B sites in the Dardanelle area of the park.
Things to do nearby include the Arkansas River Visitors Center, Arkansas Candle Factory Outlet, and the Confederate Mothers Memorial Park, to name a few. The Confederate Mothers Memorial Park overlooks Russellville and the Arkansas River. See the monument dedicated to the memory of Mothers of Confederate soldiers. The park is on the National Register of Historic Places and has natural walking trails throughout.
The Ouita Coal Company Trail provides bicyclists with rolling hills along the north side of Lake Dardanelle. Named for a local mining company in the area during the late 1800s, the trail offers beautiful views of the Illinois Bayou section of Lake Dardanelle.

Mount Magazine State Park
Exploring Arkansas State Parks is not complete until you visit Mountain Magazine State Park, which the tallest mountain in the state at 2,753 feet. Located near Paris, the park offers many activities from hand gliding to hiking to technical rock climbing to just simply eating in the lodge restaurant and taking in the sweeping vistas it offers.
The park offers many trails around the rim of the mountain, as well as a trail that climbs from the base of the mountain to the top. The park offers campgrounds with hookups as well as cabins. It also is a popular destination for those who desire to stay in a lodge. The newly constructed lodge is large and offers much more than room and board. The park is about a two hours drive from my home, and I have made the drive several times just to eat at the restaurant.
Like I said before, I could go on and on about how wonderful Arkansas State Parks are, however you probably dont want me to. These four are just a few of what the state offers. Arkansas is The Natural State and the Department of Parks and Tourism showcase that well.
Tom Sawyers Rv Park: West Memphis
Tom Sawyers RV Park is all about relaxing on the banks of the Mississippi like the Mark Twain character its named after. There is no lack of amenities at Tom Sawyers RV Park. You have the choice of gravel or concrete pads, both back-in and pull-through with electric, water, and sewer hookups. Showers, laundry, and internet access are provided at no extra cost.
Unlike many of my other choices, Tom Sawyers RV Park is more about relaxing. Set up on the shores of the Mississippi to watch barges and ships pass through, play with your dog, or go fishing for giant River Catfish. For those who want some excitement and blues, downtown Memphis is only a few miles down the road.

Downtown Riverside Rv Park
Right by the capital city, in North Little Rock, Arkansas is the Downtown Riverside RV Park. This park is very unique- as its tight in the downtown of the city!
This site is a secure, gated facility with room for 61 RVs. Theres 50-amp service, sewer and water hookups, free WiFi, a dump station, a pavilion, a clubhouse that has a washer and a dryer, restrooms, a boat ramp, and more. They allow up to 3 pets, but they must be on a leash and attended to at all times, and pit bulls are not allowed.
Downtown Riverside RV Park is open all year, is located close to a city, and has many available amenities.
There is a nice riverfront view of the city here, and due to its location, theres a ton to do even within walking distance, including shops, restaurants, shows, museums, sports games, a bike trail, and more.
This is certainly one of the most unique RV experiences one could get, and its great for someone who wants to explore the city while on their travels.
Open all year, rates here range from $25 to $33 a night, with discounts available for certain people and club members. They recommend reserving the nights, but if spots are available, drive-ups are welcome.
Arkansas State Parks: Crowleys Ridge State Park
Crowleys Ridge State Park is an ideal destination for an action-packed family vacation in northeastern Arkansas. The scenic park was once a campground for Native Americans and now offers outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers the chance to enjoy acres of hardwood forests and two lakes for fishing, boating and swimming. You can rent a modern self-catering cabin or bring along a tent or RV so that you can enjoy a few nights at the Park. Activities include swimming and beach fun on Lake Ponder and boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing on Walcott Lake. In addition there are four and half miles of hiking trails to explore and various ranger-led activities are available in summer.

While most RVers head to the Oregon Coast, take off in the other direction and check out this beautiful park in the Wallowa Mountains of Eastern Oregon. Gulpha Gorge Campground: Hot Springs
Gulpha Gorge Campground is your starting point to explore the 26 miles of trails or relax in the naturally occurring hot springs of Hot Springs National Park. There are plenty of amenities, especially for a National Park site. There are 30- and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups at all sites. There are no real showers but very nice restrooms.
The Hot Springs Reservation, the first name for Hot Springs National, was designated as protected in 1832, 40 years before Yellowstone. This makes it the oldest National Park unit. With 26 miles of hiking trails, there are plenty of ways to take in the beautiful natural scenery or stroll through historical Bathhouse Row or the Grand Promenade. It wouldnt be a visit to Hot Springs without a hot bath. Visit one of the local bathhouses that are fed from the springs for some excellent rest.

Free Camping In Arkansas
The state’s Game and Fish Commission provides dozens of free places to camp, with free dispersed camping available at Dagmar Wildlife Management Area. Peppering the eastern half of Arkansas, these are basic camping areas, often down a gravel road where you’ll find little more than a stone fire ring and peace and quiet. Don’t expect much else, including trash cans or drinking water, so be prepared to pack everything out that you bring with you and be fully prepared with any supplies you’ll need before you head into the forests.
Public land offering free campsites is just as prolific in the state’s western regions. Army Corps of Engineer sites like Cedar Fourche Campground provide amenities like flushing toilets, showers, and fire pits but don’t cost a dime. Even more free camping is provided by the forest service, with places like Sam’s Throne Recreation Area providing the perfect basecamp to exploring the lakes and myriad of other outdoor opportunities.
Even as free camping costs nothing, it does come with a price, and that is knowing how to pick up after yourself, choosing a previously-established campsite, and practicing Leave No Trace Principles.
