It hosts the river rafting rapids of the Lower New River’s Class II – V rapids along with the Upper New River’s Class II III for young families. In addition, we offer raft trips on the world-famous Gauley River’s Class IV+ rapids.

Savage River State Forest keeps the Savage River under the shadow of dense forests and natural beauty. One of the best ways to experience the areas natural beauty and get a sense of the scale of the New River Gorge is to hike it. The National Park Service maintains a number of New River Gorge trails in addition to trails maintained by the state park system.
